  1. Too early to be concerned that it's been radio silence since the winning bid was announced a week ago? How long did it take for Kang to sign last year?
  2. How does that old saying go, Even a blind squirrel? Enjoy the 1 year with Floyd, Iowa.
  3. All of those players could be had for a 1 year deal to rebuild their value. Once Buxton and Kepler are ready, they'll be on the team. I don't see the harm in targeting one of those guys to play until our crop is ready, and they take a back seat as the 4th OF
  4. I've thought and read more about Aaron Hicks the last 2 days than I have in 3 years... Exhausting. Time to get back to the fun thread. Today's National Day sucked. But tomorrow is one I think we can all get on board with. National Pickle Day! And also, National Spicy Guacamole Day!
  5. Your wife won't see right through that white lie you posted Mike?
  6. "I have no idea..." - Latrell Sprewell
  7. This is a little off topic, but I have a question about QO. Is it similar to the franchise tag in the NFL where you can only offer it to a player 2 years in a row? Or could the Orioles theoretically offer a QO to Weiters every off-season if a long-term deal can't be reached?
  8. Tis the season to accept QO's.... Don't blame him for doing so. Zuke is the clear answer for getting more AB's. Hope that Murphy takes away enough to prevent Suzuki's 2017 vesting option.
  9. I'd be fine with either Bedrosian or Morin. Both are 24, have years of control left, and strike people out. Those are all good things in my book.
  10. I'd much rather see the Angels get shut out in order to prevent having to trade Plouffe to an AL Central team.
  11. I have no issue with the trade. On the surface it looks like a pretty even up deal to swap for positions of need. I mentioned this in the elongated Hicks trade thread... IMO it's too early to tell if Hicks truly turned a corner at the plate. Would I have liked another year to find out? Yes. If he didn't turn the corner, would the Twins receive this sort of return in a trade next year? Probably not. The Twins gave him ample opportunities to earn his keep in the majors, and really they got one hot month from him. Now I'm over him, and moved on to JR Murphy.
  12. Ben, I don't claim to know much about the Braves, so I'll defer to you who's spent the time and energy following this team. It appears they're trying to revert back to the 90's heyday where they build a stellar rotation, and just enough bats to compete. It also looks like they're going with the Astros route of dismantling the team and building a top-echelon farm system to start competing in 2017, more likely 2018. Is that the feeling you get? Also, do you have any predictions of who else might be on the trade block? Freeman or any of the veteran OF's?
  13. I guess crazier things have happened in college football but that's a bold prediction to pick Minnesota to win on Saturday... The spread on this game is lower than I thought (Iowa -11.5) It's not crazy to think Minnesota with the points could win you some money.
  14. Today is National Indian Pudding day. I don't believe I've had it before. But the pictures look good! And you can top it with ice cream, which is always a win in my book.
  15. Is it better to acquire a more proven bullpen arm through trade? Or is it a necessary evil to gamble on the FA arms and hope for the best?
  16. I really do think his value is only a bullpen arm. The Angels seemed like a good fit to unload Plouffe and TBH I just chose the young man from MN for my plan.. On the surface it sounds like a Twins trade to get a 24 year old with 4 years of control left. I have higher aspirations for Plouffe, but low expectations for when the real trade happens.
  17. I'm starting to feel bad for this dead horse. How is there anything left of it to beat on?
  18. The Twins aren't that desperate to get rid of Nolasco by taking on Melvin Upton's atrocious contract are they?
  19. Why would they have given Arcia a chance last year? He was awful.
  20. By the way, best pizza in Austin is Via 313... I'm picking this up tonight in honor of the National Holiday http://48tx1q1rrcysi4t7l687xbtt.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Via-313.jpg
  21. So before we were surprised by Miss Vanimal's appearance, the Intern went through a TON of research on MLB the Show to see who really won out on the Twins/Yankees trade. He dug deep into the numbers, and played games as Hicks and JR Murphy to find out who's going to be better. As we all know, video games are the best resource for determining future value. Aaron Hicks: 74 overall. JR Murphy: 72 overall.. Dun dun dun! Already falling behind the mark. Have no fear, Potential is a calculated figure in the game. Aaron Hicks: C JR Murphy: C that's as even as you can get fellas. Lastly, the intern played home run derby mode with each player to find out the official winner of this trade. Aaron Hicks: 2 HR JR Murphy: 3 HR!!!!!! By this calculated and scientific test, Minnesota Twins Whine Line can officially say.... The Twins won the trade!!!
  22. Shots fired.... Look at you Miss Vanimal having 6 posts in an afternoon. See isn't this fun? I'm supposed to be doing a show right now until it got derailed by this controversy. Still better than talking about an Aaron Hicks trade!
  23. Okay fine, then it was an orange University of Texas shirt. Intern, help me out would you? Why am I paying you right now?
  24. No no come on now, I remember! It was a purple shirt with some black and silver striped design on it.
  25. Oh god. No... NO... NOOO!!!!! Shut it down! Shut it all down!!! Intern, pull the plug http://www.ambrosekane.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Houston-4.jpg
