  1. My old college roommate always wants me to ship Vanilla Coke to him in Thunder Bay. Why doesn't Canada allow flavored Coke products?
  2. Tough pill to swallow, but something I would deeply consider if it's a Buxton for Fernandez straight up trade. If that was the take it or leave it trade, I would probably pull the trigger on it. I'd prefer to go the quantity route with Berrios, Kepler, Gordon, etc. instead of giving up either Buxton or Sano FWIW.
  3. LOL always pushing back the 3 year window to go all in and be world series champs.....
  4. Berrios Hughes and Plouffe IMO wouldn't come close to obtaining Fernandez. We're talking about a 23 year old who's arguably the face of their franchise. And if acquired would be the anchor of the Twins staff for 8-10 years. I don't care if the price is Kepler, Berrios, Jay & Gordon. I would push all of my chips in to acquire him.
  5. Calling Miller average is a little harsh, he was #25 overall in the MLB in WAR last year. Not a high strikeout guy which was already posted, but also doesn't give up the long ball (0.57 HR/9) I'm not completely sold on him to make a trade. My pipe dream is putting together all of our assets to acquire Jose Fernandez.
  6. I see your point, but you're mentioning every player from the Ron Gardenhire era. Those players may have had different circumstances leading to their attitude problems, but so far so good in the Molitor era. Your next point about taking him out of his comfort zone... It sounds like that's exactly what he's looking for, speculatively asking to be traded multiple times last season. I don't blame him for wanting to get away from that circus of a franchise. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/report-jose-fernandez-demanded-trade-on-multiple-occasions-111915
  7. Your first 2 choices are very solid. On my list I'd switch out Dr. Pepper with 1919 Root Beer
  8. BIG soda has to be profiting from a much smaller group of people these days. I can't remember the last time I bought a 12 pack of soda at the grocery store... On very rare occasions I will have a Diet Coke at work. Otherwise La Croix Lemon to mix with vodka.
  9. This is a guy I would give up the farm for, no question. Berrios is our prized possession, and held in such high regards here on TD. But come on, Fernandez is a supremely talented 23 year old pitcher. I also wouldn't be too concerned with the supposed "attitude problems". Let's all remember he plays for the Marlins, the worst run organization in the MLB, maybe all of sports. Once he goes to an organization that isn't a train wreck, those issues will disappear.
  10. Today is National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day. Unfortunately I kicked the habit of drinking soda, but the brewery close to my apartment has a new beer this week called Billy Corgan's Caffeine Addiction - pumpkin ale with coffee... does that count? It's also National Play Monopoly Day. I like playing that board game, but god dang it takes forever to finish it.
  11. Fighting Hawks? That's the best thing they could come up with? Really?
  12. Buckle up. This show will blow your mind!
  13. I like your angle of picking up Fister on a 1 year prove it to me kind of deal. I think he could bounce back from a rough 2015 campaign and be a dark horse to be a top of the rotation kind of pitcher again.
  14. Sorry I missed this hot debate. I would certainly consider chili a soup. Just a more hearty soup compared to say a tomato basil. Also, is a hot dog a sandwich? Let's get real controversial today.
  15. Maybe I need to open up my world a little more on soups.. I've always had them to warm up on a chilly day. By the way, it's finally starting to be soup weather down here in Austin. Temps in the 60's now. I've turned into such a wuss since moving to TX.....
  16. Today is Mickey Mouse's birthday. Oh boy! It's also National Vichyssoise Day, which I have never heard of until 30 seconds ago. Apparently it's a kind of soup that's traditionally served cold. What's the point of having soup if it's served cold?
  17. Forgot to post after the show was over, but man, Nick Offerman was nothing short of brilliant in this last episode. Now I see why he was cast in that role. It suits him perfectly.
  18. After the 2016 season. See what I did there? Getting clicks with a misleading headline! David Ortiz must be looking for the Mariano Rivera / Derek Jeter retirement tour of extravagant gifts at each stadium he visits. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/11/17/david-ortiz-retiring-red-sox-big-papi/75931862/
  19. I think you just go with whatever feels right, right? Down here in Austin they call themselves Austinites. Austinans doesn't have a good ring to it. My hometown Mankato doesn't have a name that I recall. Both Mankatoans and Mankatoites doesn't sound good at all.
  20. These are the guys I'd want light years ahead of Melvin Upton. All similar salaries. Bourn has a 2017 vesting option if he gets 550 PA in 2016. He wouldn't get that in MN barring significant injuries. Sign me up on Nolasco for Bourn.
  21. Today is National Baklava Day. Looks to be a little too time consuming for me to make that. I want my desserts fast, and NOW! It's also National Take a Hike Day. So I will use that as motivation to hike to my local liquor store after work.
  22. I miss flying Delta. American doesn't provide anything complimentary other than soda on their flights...
  23. Ick. Isn't there an atrocious expiring contract we can find to trade for? I'd rather absorb an A-Rod type contract for 1 year than take on 2 years of replacement-level OF's.....
  24. From the Twins standpoint, they should do everything to ensure he stays with the organization. Going to play in Asia should be a last ditch effort if he can't latch onto an MLB team. For Vargas, who knows maybe he didn't grow up dreaming of playing in the MLB. Maybe he just wants to play professional baseball and make the most money while he can playing the sport. Unless he's a late bloomer, he probably won't get the big money contract at any point, and playing overseas could pay him more. Overall a tough situation for the Twins.
  25. Will Ed and Peggy get away before they're captured by the Gerhardt's tonight??
