  1. WAR!, huh yeah What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, oh hoh, oh WAR! huh yeah What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, say it again y'all WAR!, huh good God, y'all!
  2. I would say that it is RARE for a fielder to confirm the number of outs PRE-PITCH, and then RE-THINK what he had already confirmed, AFTER he booted the ball. I never did that playing, and I have never heard of a player doing that when I was coaching.
  3. "The YES broadcast showed a slow replay of it and it looked clear that Nunez thought there were 2 outs" "I don't think anyone is suggesting that Nunez thought there were two outs before the play" I think someone was suggesting that.
  4. Actually, he was US Army Air Corps Chief at that time.
  5. "while there is even a 1% chance remaining for a good outcome" IMO there was 0% chance for a good outcome. Nunez's throw to 1B was emotional, not stupid. He did NOT think there were two outs, or he would have been playing BACK for a play at 1B. The golf analogy is throwing your club(s) into the water hazard AFTER a bad shot. That wasn't part of your plan. It did no good. It wasn't smart. But your brain wasn't in charge at that time!
  6. Exactly!!!!!
  7. From postgame interview.."``I didn't mean to throw it to first base,'' Nunez said"
  8. That reaction was AFTER the bobble and AFTER it was too late to throw home. There was NO CORRECT play for him at that time, so his play became just reactionary. Any player who is playing UP, knows the play is at home and the PRIORITY baserunner is at third base.
  9. That is NONSENSE!! Nunez was playing IN, as he (and every other infielder in baseball) has done with ZERO or ONE OUT and an important runner at third base. He KNEW there weren't two outs or he would have been playing BACK in position to get the out at first base. He also knew that the Twins were playing a FIVE-INFIELDER-DEFENSE, when Escobar replaced Hunter right before that at-bat. To suggest that Nunez thought there were two outs (instead of NO OUTS) is beyond ridiculous!
  10. He would have thrown home if he had fielded the ball cleanly. IF NOT, THAT would have been the dumbest .....! What he did, was simply panic after all was lost! There was no thinking going on after the bobble, just an emotional reaction because all was lost.
  11. " It was just a tardy desperation reaction, when Nunez realized that he had lost his chance to get the out at the plate. Nothing he would have done would have saved the game, and Nunez reacted instinctively as infielders/pitchers/catchers do when it is too late to get the lead runner (ie.,on bunts) and threw to 1B. He let his instincts take over after there were no useful options remaining. Holding the ball is no better and looks like a player who is quitting, rather than competing.
  12. Are you sure that is a rule? The eligibility rules to play in the AFL are simple. The roster size is 30 players per team. Each Major League organization is required to provide six players subject to the following requirements: All Triple-A and Double-A players are eligible, provided the players are on at least a Double-A level roster no later than Aug. 1. One player below the Double-A level is allowed per Major League team. One foreign player is allowed, as long as the player does not reside in a country that participates in winter ball, as part of the Caribbean Confederation or the Australian winter league. No players with more than one year of credited Major League service as of August 31 are eligible, except a team may select one player picked in the most recently concluded Major League Rule 5 Draft. To be eligible, players on Minor League disabled lists must be activated at least 45 days before the conclusion of their respective seasons.
  13. Call-ups depend heavily on whether the Twins are competing for anything; and which of their affiliates in the playoffs.
  14. Jumping off a bridge is intentional. Failing to develop a drafted player is UN-intentional, but happens often. False analogies can be either, but you just used one.
  15. This is his 4th season since college. His first season was the 2012 half-season at High-Rookie Elizabethton. The rule doesn't say "FULL" season, so that half-season counted as season#1. Add seasons 2013, 2014, and 2015 adds up to four seasons.
  16. Those who are eligible for the first time to be lost in Rule V are: Luke Bard, Baxendale, Harrison, DJ Hicks, Zack Jones, Melotakis, Muren,Joel Polanco, Taylor Rogers, Valera, Vielma, Logan Wade and Adam Brett Walker. Many of those are VERY unlikely to be lost to Rule V. Walker, Jones, Rogers, Melotakis (although he has been injured) and Vielma are (IMO) the most vulnerable to Rule V.
  17. Only a team which would try to bring back Jason Bartlett, Matt Guerrier and Jason Kubel would make a mistake like that...........OOOPS!
  18. "I'd also steer clear of catchers with concussion issues. AJ Would be a good pickup IMO" AJ exhibited multiple concussion symptoms BEFORE he ever got hit in the head!
  19. I think we will: 1) pass on Pelfrey and Duensing as FA's 2) sign Hunter as FA 3) cut Wheeler, Robinson, Darnell and Thompson from the 40-man roster 4) add Adam Brett Walker, Taylor Rogers, Zack Jones, Mason Melotakis and Engelb Vielma to the 40-man roster for protection against loss in the Rule V draft. 5) Give Terry Ryan a hairpiece and three months vacation because I have already made the important decisions for him.
  20. JEEEEEZE!!! Joe Mauer got more hits than the rest of the roster COMBINED!!!!!!!!!
  21. "I think Kepler supplants Rosario in the outfield eventually as the Twins need more left handed bats" Rosario IS a left-handed batter.
  22. This is probably off the main subject but: Is there a link or source where I can find a list of the Twins minor-league prospects who must be added to the 40-man-roster in order to be exempt from loss in the next Rule V draft? I would appreciate that information. Thanks.....
  23. 12 pitchers IS typical, but the Twins have needed 13 pitchers many times in the last 5 years. If Hicks, Buxton and Rosario can play every inning of every game, then Vargas/Arcia can platoon at DH, but if of the three is unavailable, Vargas DH's and Arcia (or ABW) plays an ugly corner OF. That is do-able but not ideal.
