  1. Turner and Garver don't figure in Twins MLB catching plans until LATE 2016 / Spring 2017.
  2. Actually, 40 guys were put on the 40 man instead of Gilmartin last winter. Those decisions also factor in "who is most likely to be selected in Rule V?". Not an exact science, "Mind-Reading by Amateurs"
  3. We all can question decisions made by those making decisions...AND we all can question opinions made by those NOT making decisions.
  4. Most teams need two regular catchers. Only two catchers caught IN more than 130 games in 2014.(Lucroy and Salvador Perez) So backup catchers on most teams are very busy.
  5. Only the first six are subject to that rule. The SEVENTH player (Garver) is not subject to that rule. That is why there are TWO Twins A-ball players...Hildenberger and Garver.
  6. The Magnificent Seven include (from Baseball America Prospect Handbook Twins preseason prospect list): #7 Burdi; #13 Turner; #15 Rogers; #17 ABWalker; #19 Reed; (2nd best catching prospect) Garver ; AND TREVOR HILDENBERGER, WHO IS NEVER EVEN MENTIONED IN A LISTING OF THE TOP 94 Twins prospects!!!! Unbelievable rise! THAT is what evaluators mean, when they say a prospect has HELIUM!!!
  7. "If the Twins had a desire to have him start at the end of the season it would have taken a plan that was implemented in April". Thank you "drjim" for your clear, informative and (I feel) on-the-mark explanation. Much appreciated
  8. Minnesota Twins selected the contract of Eric Fryer from Rochester Red Wings. Minnesota Twins sent Jason Wheeler outright to Chattanooga Lookouts. Minnesota Twins recalled A.J. Achter from Rochester Red Wings. Minnesota Twins recalled Danny Santana from Rochester Red Wings. Minnesota Twins recalled Michael Tonkin from Rochester Red Wings. Minnesota Twins recalled Kennys Vargas from Rochester Red Wings Confirmed by mlb.com
  9. And HTF do you measure THAT?? Rectal thermometer reading?
  10. If the emergency catcher is Pinto, and he isn't cleared medically to catch, you only have two catchers.
  11. Its not BOTH pinch-hit-for; OR BOTH injured. It can be ONLY ONE injury AFTER you have self-inflicted the pinch-hitter occurrence. If you pinch-hit for your catcher, you just put yourself ONE BAD FOUL TIP away from NO CATCHERS! You need three, although the third catcher can be for emergency only.
  12. The message is to adjust to the prospect and his situation, based on what your trusted evaluators tell you. And always ignore the blogs!
  13. Nobody announced yet.
  14. "Berrios is one of the 20 best prospects in baseball, continuing to think he's not ready, I don't get it.......he's ready" Buxton is one of the TWO best prospects in baseball. How ready is HE to hit MLB pitching? Are you 100% certain?
  15. "A player with three or more years of service, but less than six years, may file for salary arbitration. In addition, a player can be classified as a "Super Two" and be eligible for arbitration with less than three years of service. A player with at least two but less than three years of Major League service shall be eligible for salary arbitration if he has accumulated at least 86 days of service during the immediately preceding season and he ranks in the top 22 percent (increased from 17 percent in previous agreements) in total service in the class of Players who have at least two but less than three years of Major League service, however accumulated, but with at least 86 days of service accumulated during the immediately preceding season"
  16. "A player with six or more years of Major League service who has not executed a contract for the next season is eligible to become a free agent"
  17. Berrios has zero years on the 40-man. If he is added to the 40-man and plays this year, his clock starts running.
  18. They have to project better NOW, than they will be one year after they are eligible for arbitration and then Free Agency. Otherwise, ANOTHER team will own them at the PEAK of their CAREER!!!
  19. Fryer and Berrios are the only necessary additions to the 40-man-roster.
  20. Kepler doesn't make the team worse btw. He has to be added to the 40 man anyways next year, losing Aaron Thompson now or then is irrelevant. Kepler is ALREADY on the 40-man roster.
  21. What's the roster situation in calling up Fryer. Does he have to be put back on the 40 man? Yes. Someone (Jason Wheeler?) on the 40-man-roster must be waived tomorrow.
  22. "Is Eduardo Escobar the new Nick Punto?" Did the old one die?
  23. Berrios pitched six innings tonight for Rochester, if that answers anybody's questions
