  1. From then on, you will totally lose your sense of smell. Taste, sight and hearing will soon follow.
  2. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draftdb/index.php
  3. "That series" = small sample size
  4. It is not about understanding. It is about the tradeoff between: 1) sliding early (which results in the tag beating you to the base)... or 2) sliding late (which is more likely to beat the tag to the base, but increases the risk of oversliding and being tagged later) It is a risk/reward decision that can help you or burn you whichever of the two poisons you pick.
  5. If Revere could get an arm transplant, this would be a good idea. If the donor was Raul Mondesi, this could be a GREAT idea! Problem is Mondesi is right-handed, so Revere's new left thumb will be on the outside of his throwing hand.....So let's downgrade the idea back to "good".
  6. It is your (the pitcher's) choice, but Dozier is now a .260 hitter. Pitch him low and away ALWAYS, and you may make him a .300 hitter with fewer HR's.
  7. If a batter KNOWS every pitch will be in the same location, that pitcher has no chance. You cannot stop a hitter from diving on an outside pitch, if you NEVER jam him.
  8. You did fine. Maybe if Dozier would candidly answer your questions about: 1) Why he doesn't get surprised by THAT PITCH! (high, inside fastball), unlike most other hitters...How does he mentally prepare? 2) How he can hit THAT PITCH and still have his hands ready for low and away. 3) Are any of his swing mechanics different from other hitters, enabling him to do what is so difficult for those other hitters? If Dozier won't properly explain, you are limited in your analysis to what he WILL discuss.
  9. That's a pretty defensive (snarky) response to a legitimate comment. How's THAT?
  10. Harold Reese also confirms that his first name is not "Pee".
  11. Grover Cleveland Alexander Pee Wee Reese Albert Goodwill Spalding Kirrrrrr Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Puckett ( as called by Bob Casey)
  12. Keeping Johan for the last season would have been turmoil, because he wanted OUT!!!!
  13. I didn't know that John Quincy Adams, John Foster Dulles, Joe Don Looney, John David Crow, John Cougar Mellencamp and Sugar Ray Robinson/Leonard/Whatever were on "Saved by the Bell"
  14. Except HE drove in 71 runs in 78 games, and THEY DIDN'T!!!!
  15. Apparently spaces don't transfer to the text.
  16. "My favorite comp is probably Steven Moya of the Tigers" Mine would be Jack Cust ex-Oakland A'S. 2107AB 311R 510H 105HR 323RBI 444BB 819K .242BA .374 OBP .439SLG .813 OPS ABWALKER 1536AB 256R 401H 89HR 319RBI 117BB 467K .261BA .314 OBP .503SLG .818 OPS
  17. If the opposing pitchers were paying attention to his HR/RBI totals, I would think his walks would increase exponentially, and pass his HR's soon. Apparently, the pitchers don't know enough to be afraid of him yet.

    Hicks

How does this relate to Hicks?
  19. "And the Southern League only plays a 140 game schedule" I know, and it does not change the fact that ABW is "ON PACE for 147 RBI for 162 games!"
  20. Adam Brett Walker just got his RBI #70 in Chattanooga's 77th game! On pace for 147 RBI for 162 games!

    Hicks

Hicks will outplay Arcia defensively (and baserunning); by far more than Arcia will outplay Hicks hitting.
  22. Boyer, Graham, Thompson, Meyer, IN. Burton, Thielbar, Tonkin, Oliveros, Swarzak, Achter OUT
  23. Ervin Santana throws a slider that is one of the most devastating strike-out pitches in MLB. The Twins have no other pitcher with a comparable strikeout pitch. If you saw him pitch last season and this spring (after he started using all his pitches), you shouldn't be suggesting that any pitcher in the current rotation should keep their spot ahead of him. If you know anyone who has faced Ervin Santana's 2014-2015 slider, ask them what they think of it.
  24. Often players are sent AA rather than AAA, because the bitter attitudes of some of the ex-MLB players at AAA may be toxic to genuine prospects.
  25. Only 39 currently on the 40-man roster. I don't think it is Walker, but he could be added. Hicks may be most likely to replace Robinson and Sano to replace Vargas.
