    Verlander wasn't going to come here. The whole question of whether we should or shouldn't have traded for him is moot. If he was going to leave Detroit, it'd be for true W Series contender, which is what happened. He chose wisely. These I told you so followup posts because he's doing awesome doesn't mean a thing. Kind of like the Aaron Hicks trade thread that got closed because of people going back and forth saying I told you so. He wasn't coming here.

    I hope Mauer gets another contract. His defense and his OBP are valuable. Obviously he'd need to take a decent pay cut, butt he still has good value.

    In 2015, the Twins were tied for 11th in % of revenue put into player salary, putting 49% of revenue back into player salary. http://i.imgur.com/yPYrkOg.jpg We're usually around that. In the dome, at times, we got quite a bit higher. Salaries for players past their initial controllable years are well past the point of getting ridiculous though.

    Mauer's UZR is #1 for 1B not only in AL but MLB. He's not the favorite and he won't win it, but there's plenty to point to and say he is arguably the best choice. He certainly saved a lot of our infielders with his play and by extension the pitchers.

    Well, no, that's probably not true. There are clearly 1Bs who are great defenders and then 1Bs who are there because they need the bat in the lineup. Mauer ranked 1st in the AL for 1B UZR. No one was really close to him. He was also 3rd in DRS and 3rd in RZR as well. He's an elite defending 1B.

    Sell high on Gibson? How would that be possible based on his performance this season? Or last season for that matter (since both seasons practically mirrored each other).

    The best center fielder in baseball is TROUT. Also the best overall player. Buxton was, however,very much the best defensive outfielder this year and yeah, we should lock him up sooner rather than latter. I'd be happy if they waited another season though, to see if the 2nd half hitting sticks and he doesn't destroy himself playing recklessly.

    Well, you probably don't know even close to everyone who knows baseball nor have you likely had discussions with anyone in baseball in regards to that. If so, please share. I'm sure many would love to hear how those conversations went. Lots of studies have shown how bad it is to purposely give away outs. With the pitcher in the NL it makes slightly more sense in certain situations, but teams get 24-27 outs in most games and giving them away has been shown to decrease the odds of scoring, not increase it. So I imagine that managers who embrace newer info out there, only call for it in selected situations. Some older school managers might find it makes sense whenever because that's how the game has been played for so long. Bunting for hits is a different conversation.

    I really have no issues with pace of play or how the game has evolved. I would like to see them implement a pitch clock like they do in the minors and then also enforce some rules put on the batter a couple years ago yet for some reason only enforced for like two weeks.

    There isn't. Also did anyone notice Supreme Leader Trump suggested going after NBC licensing because they report 'fake news' on him? Cause anything that is negative about him or isn't glorifying him as the best at everything is fake news. YES, he's going after the first amendment A LOT! But hey, at least the 2nd amendment is safe.
