  1. Wait! Did they officially move MAY to the bullpen?
  2. By the time those guys are ready, other guys will be done with their contracts, traded, won't have worked out, etc. These things have a way of working themselves out. I'll be happy when he have even four guys in our rotation that I have faith in being more than one fluky good year in the rotation (see Hughes?). Last time this team was talking about having 6 quality SPs for 5 spots was the offseason before the 2011 season.
  3. It's good info, but home teams win more games than away teams overall, period. That advantage you point to in extra innings occurs in 9 inning games as well.
  4. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure why you think the talent on this team should result in a .500 record or better. Lot of rookies coming and going, not a bevy of quality veterans, starting pitching staff that is questionable (playing over their heads) and a poor bullpen. If our win count starts with 7, that's be nice to see, but putting expectations of .500 on a team very much in transition is unwarranted.
  5. out of curiousity, how often do home teams win the game, period?
  6. If you don't like Molitor, there were more options than just keeping Gardy. I'm glad Gardy is gone. I've wanted him gone for many, many years (well before the consistent losing started).
  7. Besides Berrios, who are you wondering about? Pelfrey will be gone, Milone may be as well. We'll have room for Hughes, Santana, Gibson, May and Berrios.
  8. Hope all of you have a fantastic, and safe, 4th of July with family and friends!
  9. So, the Twins game tonight isn't televised? Seems like the 4th of July would be the last day to take off from broadcasting.
  10. hopefully we will get some answer on that soon.
  11. Hard to watch the team lose a game like that against the division leader while your best pitcher never toes the rubber.
  12. He's a quality defender (though not as good as he used to be) and his career away OPS is .813. An .813 OPS from a quality defender at the shortstop position is special. There are only two qualifying shortstops who have an OPS that high this season and he is one of them. People said the same thing about Holliday when he left Coors. Ooops. People think it's only about leaving Coors, but it's also about playing a ton of games in parks like Petco, Dodger Stadium and AT&T. Not exactly hitters parks over the course of his career and not to mention against quality pitching staffs from those teams to boot on a regular basis.Tulo is a great hitter, period. And he's a leader, he has the intangibles too while still being a great player. Even if he played 120 games a season, 120 games of him and 42 from others still makes the best shortstop situation. At least for another couple years until Correa takes his belt.
  13. why no Kepler in that group?
  14. Molitor is an inexperienced manager with a team that played over it's abilities the first two months. We don't have enough info to rate him 'Mediocre'.
  15. Bert and Richard attempting to justify their stance on giving away outs.
  16. The same people who expect Kris Bryant to hit 50 HR this season for the Cubs? :-)
  17. Could very well be my favorite run scored all year.
  18. Milone walks Escobar. That's impressive. Hard to do that.
  19. was that not worth a challenge? Mauer looked safe.
  20. We aren't even halfway through the season and Trevor May's WAR is 1.7. None of the rest of our current starters are over 0.7. For now, and for the future, May and Gibson have to stay in the rotation.
  21. I do not know of even one person who expected him to hit 40 HR much less 50. I'd be interested to read who was expecting 50.
  22. Just so you know, I put Santana in there only because he's absolutely going to be put in there by the team and this is thread about whether or not we should go from a 5 man rotation to a 6 man rotation. I'm on the side of the 5 man rotation and I've given reasons why. There is another thread about who should be the odd man out to maintain a 5 man rotation (titled 'Odd SP out')where the debate on who the five should be rages on. Your thoughts about where Santana should fit on the team when he returns is ideally put there. It'd be an interesting debate for sure.
