  1. true, but his K rate, walk rate and WHIP are horrendous.
  2. makes me ponder the definition of the word, 'fun'
  3. How many Randy Johnson type pitchers have there been? He's like inner circle HOF. The list of people who didn't figure out their command issues later is miles longer.
  4. Altuve and Dozier are not a wash. Dozier has been clearly better.
  5. In baseball, a sacrifice fly is a batted ball that statisfies four criteria: -There are fewer than two outs when the ball is hit. -The ball is hit to the outfield (fair or foul), or to infield foul territory. -The batter is put out because an outfielder (or an infielder running in the outfield, or foul territory) catches the ball on the fly (alternatively if the batter would have been out if not for an error or if the outfielder drops the ball and another runner is put out). -A runner who is already on base scores on the play.
  6. May was on pace for 160 innings. Is that too many? He had 144 last year.
  7. 'Show Dick some respect!'-Bender
  8. If a catcher starts 126 games in a 162 games season, has he been way over-used? Or even over-used?
  9. well, it's a good thing he's so good at framing and hitting. Oh, wait...
  10. going into today he was on pace for 126 starts
  11. Kipnis should have been the starter with Dozier the backup. Altuve is like 4th or 5th. Not bad, clearly, like Infante is, but still not deserving.
  12. Dozier isn't the only one, but he's ours and I'll be voting as much as I can. He was boned the minute Altuve got voted in. No way they take 3 2Bs and Kipnis has been better. Kershaw got boned too.
  13. reminds me of Santana not winning the CY in 2005 because he wasn't quite as good as he was in 2004.
  14. No all star game for Dozier. And Kershaw, who is 2nd in the NL in WAR for SP, did not make it either.
  15. Yes, because he's been bad. Striking out too little, walking way too many, letting way too many on base and roughly 1/3 of inherited runners have scored.
  16. Edit, I THINK it's 5 in 26 appearances.
  17. Less than 7Ks per 9 IP and almost 6 BB per 9 IP. WHIP of 1.671. Not sure how he's done with inherited runs, but it'd be interesting to find out. Edit, I THINK it's 5 in 26 appearances.
  18. You know a pitcher is other wordly when he has an ERA+ that has 4 digits. Wade Davis, ERA+ of 1591.
  19. Less than 7Ks per 9 IP and almost 6 BB per 9 IP. WHIP of 1.671. Not sure how he's done with inherited runs, but it'd be interesting to find out.
  20. 'Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.'
  21. 'What is Sacrifice Hit or Bunt - SAC? A strategic play by the batter where the ball is bunt by the hitter for the purpose of helping a runner on base progress around the bases. Batters are awarded a Sacrifice Hit if they are put out and a runner progresses to another base but don't receive an At Bat on the play. The terms "Sacrifice Hit" and "Sacrifice Bunt" are interchangeable and is also symbolized by an "S" or "SH".' 'In baseball, a sacrifice bunt (also called a sacrifice hit) is a batter's act of deliberately bunting the ball, before there are two outs, in a manner that allows a runner on base to advance to another base. The batter is almost always sacrificed (and to a certain degree that is the intent of the batter) but sometimes reaches base due to an error or fielder's choice. Sometimes the batter may safely reach base by simply outrunning the throw to first; this is not scored as a sacrifice bunt but rather a single. In the Major Leagues, sacrifice bunts reduce the average runs scored but increase the likelihood of scoring once. However, they can increase the average runs scored in an inning if the batter is a weak hitter. A successful sacrifice bunt does not count as an at bat, does not impact a player's batting average, and counts as a plate appearance. However, unlike a sacrifice fly, a sacrifice bunt does not count against a player in determining on-base percentage. If the official scorer believes that the batter was attempting to bunt for a base hit, and not solely to advance the runners, the batter is charged an at bat and is not credited with a sacrifice bunt.' Sac hit/sac bunt not to be confused with a sacrifice fly.
  22. he really has no business being a starter.
  23. sorry, in my shock to his reply, I forgot to quote him when I responded :-)
  24. Lucroy is better than a healthy Suzuki by a pretty wide margin. Lucroy has easily bested Suzuki's best offensive year three times already. And he's a quality defender and framer to boot as opposed to Suzuki. Suzuki is lucky to be a starter. And, BTW, last year Suzuki had the most PAs he's had since 2011 and he only had like 10 or so more in 2011. Twins started him at catcher 115 times last year which is the most he had started since 2011. He hasn't started more than 127 games at catcher this decade. He's on pace for 126. Not sure that qualifies as wearing a catcher out.
