    So the same strategy we have every year.

    His FIP was up a half run as was his xFIP. His Ks were slightly down and his BABIP was very low while his LOB% was very high. Yeah, lucky, but part of that luck was due to the quality D behind him.

    Why would we want Odorizzi? Odorizzi. 143 IP last year. 7.97 K and 3.83 BB per 9 IP. Had a ridiculous and likely unsustainable babip of .227. Had a FIP of 5.43 and an xFIP of 5.10. Had a fWAR of 0.1. He has gotten worse in each of his last two seasons in practically every meaningful way.

    Not to mention there is no way they sign both.

    The goalposts keep being moved. Every time we go into an offseason, we read people who constantly defended the organization say 'well, if THIS offseason they don't do anything to truly address the rotation as it needs to be, THEN I'll complain' Then the team's lack of doing anything meaningful to address THE major concern we've had for years once again gets defended or even lauded as the right move after all, or as no biggy. And with Santana out for awhile, our rotation is even worse. It gets old. I understand this is a new FO, and it has done some things to help the bullpen as needed, but the rotation is just as much in shambles and nothing has been done, and two days from now, pitchers and catchers report. Maybe we sign a #3 or #4 type to add to our ever growing list of uninspired options. These kind of moves don't get it done. And it's not like I ever thought we'd get Darvish, that's not my point. NOTHING has been done. But then, I'm sure NEXT offseason, they'll really address the rotation. Just wait...

    yeah, you missed my point. In any event, I wouldn't trade Kepler for Odorizzi.

    Dealing for Odorizzi wouldn't be smart. Unless we gave up Gibson...by himself.

    It's easy for Twins fans to fall back on that excuse. He's now playing in his 3rd different city in a year.

    Since I never for a moment thought we'd sign him, I'm glad it's over. I imagine the uninspiring Lynn will be heading our way. Or even less inspiring, Jaime Garcia.

    Get better starters and relegate some starters to backups. Bench is better.

    The defense behind Ervin in 2017 was the biggest contributor to his ERA. Overall, he was worse in 2017 than 2016.

    Hard pass on Tillman. If it's Tillman versus playing one of our youngsters, I'll take the youngster. I get a little tired of our SOP of signing people on the cheap we are hoping rebound.

    They had a .541 winning % in the 2nd half. A seasonal .541 winning % is like 87 or 88 wins.

    As far as on the field performance goes, the two Twins players I enjoyed watching the most were Kirby Puckett and Johan Santana.
