  1. Wait, what? We're jumping from "not as dirty as Pigpen" to "clean, civilized people"?
  2. I'm not doing that for any price. And a mere 35k? C'mon, Van. No way am I stepping out of the house for any reason while I'm that filthy, even to work. I can think of much better ways to make that much money, especially considering the time frame of two months of growing dirty plus two years of cleaning up again (taking into account the time it'll take for said Dove Hair & Body Wash to restore my teeth back to their previous condition, and after the experiment is finally over, a huge dental bill to pay). That said, Dove can just go corral Pigpen for all I care. It doesn't look like his parents have bathed him in his entire six or so years of existence. http://www.peanuts.com/wp-content/themes/desktop-theme-peanuts/images/characters/main-pigpen.png
  3. What apocalypse means to most people: Something ISIS jihadist maniacs believe they are a key agent in bringing about. What apocalypse means on Twins Daily: Miguel Sano moves to the outfield.
  4. POTY. And it's only February.
  5. Because, when it boils down to it, we are all just "random people from the internet" made neighbors by the fact that we all live on Twins Daily.
  6. Get back to me when you are no longer emotionally attached to baseball in general and then we'll talk.
  7. Brock, there's a glitch in the system that's causing quotes from the article page to not link back to the quoted comment. If I quote something from a forum page (i.e. here), you can click the little return button to go back to the original comment (example: ChiTown quoting big dog from the forum page). However, if you're on the article page (i.e. here), the return button isn't there, and the quoted person doesn't get notified (example: me quoting Riverbrian from the article page). Edit: I just checked the problem, and when you quote in an article it has the member name and timestamp but not the quote number. Article quote:
  8. I think people jump to praise what people outside the room say because it's similar to what they believe - remember, they, too, are outside the room. I guess it's sort of like how people are quick to jump onto Trump's bandwagon, not because he's qualified to be the POTUS, but because he's so much like them. I hope comparing these people to Trump supporters doesn't equate to calling someone a "moron" or "idiot."
  9. Is we intentionally disregarding the fact that words taken out of context and used without regard to their meaning should be italicized, not capitalized?
  10. May I respectfully ask where you draw the line at whether an offense is worthy of publicity? At this point in Dayton's life/career, does he really need to improve his political image?
  11. Since Mike forgot, I'll say it for him: Don't forget the wine! (We have board games, yes ... )
  12. It's so disappointing!!!! What ... does that sound celebratory? Dang ...
  13. Cheese Lover's Day? How fitting! I see we celebrated Always rather than cheese that day.
  14. That's an insult to sweet potatoes in general. Since there are nine people in my family (not counting the four dogs and two dozen centipedes, all of which definitely qualify as people - and don't tell me what's said in game threads stays in game threads ), so we buy everything by the case*. That means a lot of sweet potatoes, and we don't stop at fries! For instance, SP's are a great substitute for pumpkin when it comes to pies, only better. They're creamier, sweeter, and even easier to make. Or you can bake them for an hour and serve cut in half with a generous pat of butter on top (or several, if you're me; when's National Butter Day?). Sweet potato apple dishes are also hugely popular in my family. And a week or two ago I made sweet potato pone with raisins just to make Hrb mad - his history with raisins runs long and deep as he ate one at the tender age of four, didn't like it, and has waged a war on all raisins since, assuming his taste buds haven't changed since the original offence. Personally, I thought the pone was delicious. Hrb did not - though he refused to offer any input, so maybe I'm mistaken. Comments, Hrb? I bet you're lurking around somewhere. And sweet potato scones! I don't know ... the list goes on (as the length of this paragraph clearly indicates). I've even been serving them mashed lately when the spare room on the stove top exceeds the spare room in the oven (which frequently amounts to nothing at all). But the moral of the story is this: don't diss sweet potatoes. There's more to them than meets the eye. By the way, I'm speaking of the red-skinned, yam variety. And don't tell me yams aren't sweet potatoes, because that's just not true. *Think Cheaper by the Dozen - except we have a baker's dozen, disregarding our beloved centipedes.
  15. Yeah, movie music is great for eliminating dumb songs from your head ... unless it's a song from a musical like that damn "Sobbin' Women" song from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers my brothers have permanently ingrained in my memory. But the theme song from Buffy the Vampire Slayer never fails to erase such horrors from my mind ... though I'm guessing you guys are all too old for that show. But then again, I'm supposedly too young. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-xnvdtuRRo
  16. Josh, At least they got your name right. Over the weekend, our country suffered a tremendous loss in the passing of Justice Antonin Scalia, an unwavering champion of our nation’s Constitution and an outspoken defender of the original intent of our Founders’ writings. That is, an outspoken defender of his interpretation of the original intent of said writings. His presence on the Court is irreplaceable and he will be sorely missed. As anyone who dies is irreplaceable, this comes as no surprise. The vacancy on the Supreme Court left by Justice Scalia has sent shockwaves through Washington. I'll say ... we're feeling them in Minnesota. The next justice named to the Court will play a crucial role in determining the future of policy in America for decades to come. This is not a decision to be taken lightly. [said in my best Iago impersonation] Oh, there's a big surprise! I think I'm going to have a heart attack and die from that surprise! Senate Republicans have made a commitment to ensuring that the American people have a voice in the selection of the next Supreme Court Justice. Yeah, too bad it was just Muslims and gays, etc. who voted in our current president. Now we need the American people to vote in a new one. What a drag. I hope you will join us by signing the petition to stand with Senate Republicans as we hold our ground in waiting to confirm a new justice until after 2016, the time by which the American people will have chosen a new president and a new direction for our country. I saw a comment by a random Facebook pundit who basically said if Scalia came back to life and Obama nominated him, the Senate would vote him down. Yeah ... I'm sure they would. Funny, isn't it? Way to put things into perspective. Your support means everything at this pivotal moment in American history. Just like every other petition out there. Sincerely, Always33 Random Twins Daily Poster
  17. Brock? BROCK? Are you there? Somehow, someway I didn't get notified of this response. But ChiSoxFan, I couldn't agree more. --- ok, nvm brock ... I figured out what was wrong.
  18. What happened to those age old Chiefisms? Yes.
  19. I not infrequently hear that kids don't know how to deal with stress as well as adults. I disagree. You don't magically learn how to cope with bad times once you hit the magic number; the fault lies entirely with the MLDA.
  20. Lol ... as far as I know you can drink beer legally before you can run for president. Also, I'm assuming you're aware of this. Plus, you seem pretty sane still, and according to your profile, you're almost as old as Chief. Older than Sid Hartman, even.
  21. Naturally I prefer the general populace to have to exert a little effort in order to find my name. Furthermore, I strictly forbid you to tell anyone or so much as give hints. If they want to know, they have to figure it out themselves or, at the very least, ask me. It's not a difficult feat by any stretch of the imagination. Of course, I would definitely have my last name on my jersey, but I'd still wear 33. I'd just be [---] 33 instead of always33. Not that big of a difference. And I have a feeling everyone on here would still think of me as Always. Y'know, for TD at least, I'd rather go by the name I gave myself than my father's father's father's father's father's name. Too many fathers, if you know what I mean.
  22. Thanks for coming in here. Always nice to discuss multiple aspects of a situation to keep an even balance. Your post was a fresh reminder that while as a Twins fan I should probably hate the ChiSox, I'll never be able to because you're the classic Sox fan. I can only assume you guys have earned the respect of most baseball fans. So I wish you the [second] best of luck this season, and may the competition between our teams be fierce and well worth watching. And may the Twins come out on top.
  23. Nope, I certainly don't. People'd say it's because I was a woman, i.e. "See, women can't compete," etc. Triple crown for sure. I'd not only be the first woman baseball player in MLB but the first to win the triple crown, and not only the first woman to do something but the first rookie to ... I think. They'd come up with the always33 award after I died, I'm sure. It would be a most deserving title.
  24. Lol ... in all fairness, I guess I should perhaps have left the last sentence out. I've learned enough on TD.
  25. And the fact that you do something makes it highbrow? Hey guys, I learned something new on Twins Daily today!
