  1. But ... I thought I was on Twins Daily! Apparently not, though; unfortunately, I find myself in the unusual position of having to resume my search for the website I waste the most time on ... I'll get back to you when I find it ...
  2. Okay, this is like everywhere, so I'm not sure what the original source is, but, "In law, hate speech is any speech, gesture or conduct, writing, or display which is forbidden because it may incite violence or prejudicial action against or by a protected individual or group, or because it disparages or intimidates a protected individual or group."
  3. Yeah. If anyone panders to their audience, it's the press, not Hillary Clinton.
  4. I'm not defending the protesters (quite the contrary), but hard as it may be for some people to grasp, there are limits to our freedom of speech. I'd be pretty hesitant to say trying to stop a guy who can't open his mouth to speak without spewing hate speech in all directions is worse than what the actual guy is doing. It may not be the right way to handle this, but calling it "The problem" as if that's the root of this dilemma? With all due respect, no. Just ... no. Just to be clear, "Hate speech is any communication that disparages a person or a group on the basis of some characteristic such as race, color, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, or other characteristic." And from what I can tell, Trump's platform is pretty much built on the disparagement of such people groups. (That last bit was said slightly tongue in cheek ... but not ... I just don't get this man, and I really don't get his popularity.)
  5. No. The average life expectancy for men in the US is 76, while it's 81 for women. Gotta dig deeper into these little facts ...
  6. Let's just assume that Park isn't quite at regular season form yet, either.
  7. Yes.As an official Chiefism grammarian, I consider it my duty to correct mistakes when I see them.
  8. Yeah, and it's mostly people my age who support him anyway. I doubt age plays a significant role in his popularity. And I wouldn't say he's ugly ... though I've always been a bit of a gerontophile.
  9. Don't worry - I only knew because I use Google, not Bing. Gotta put Nirvana behind me for the day and dig up those Riot Grrrl playlists ... I love Sleater-Kinney. <3
  10. So today is International Women's Day. For those of you who forgot.
  11. Same here ... though I've been trying to cut back on fb so mostly I just go on it for news ... it's sort of a gratifying experience because I get to waste time on fb (it'd be easier to just type out npr.org) without actually feeling like I'm wasting time. That, and ravelry.com, a knitting website I'm part of. Yeah, I knit. It's not uncool. I'm making a lace scarf right now ... it's supposed to look like tiger eyes, but it reminded me more of Rothbart from Swan Lake, so I'm calling mine Odile - not that I'm going to affectionately call it by its name the way I call my flute Bellamy, but every project needs a name. It's going to be much lacier after I block it; I shared the link to the pattern page since the photo of mine is somewhat deceptive.
  12. The bright side of this scenario is that Twins Daily is making money off a completely unprofitable move by the Sux.
  13. Wow, this makes me feel so young. When Puckett died, I was eight years old, didn't know or care who the Twins were (to my credit, I wasn't 100% un-Minnesotan - I was a huge Minnesota Orchestra fan), and consequently had never so much as listened to a Twins game on the radio. My fondest memories (because yeah, even I have them) of Puckett are watching the replays of the '87 and '91 WS over and over and listening to my mom reminisce about the good old days when Puckett, Knoblauch, Gladden, and the likes were The Twins. I'm pretty sure she loved (loves) Puckett more than any other man on the face of the earth, and if I remember correctly, the reason we got to listen to the '06 season was because she was so shook up hearing about Puckett's death. And yeah, she's as old as all you guys claiming to be too old for him to be your hero. As glad as I am that she's not on TD, it might've been nice to have a documented account of her memories.
  14. And here I thought you were growing tired of my company ...
  15. Out of the Park!! It had to be said.
  16. From what I can tell, the gist of the tale is, "Mauer takes strike one right down the center of the plate." Isn't that how he always was, even before the concussion? Or am I remembering wrong? And then the moral of the story is, "Mauer went 0-3." First of all, I feel like the fact he took strike one looking three at bats in a row has little to do with the fact he didn't get a hit today. Furthermore, as someone pointed out in the game thread, so did Sano. Glasses, anyone? Anyway, it's been established that it was cloudy today. The only person I know who wears sunglasses on cloudy days is my little brother, and he doesn't do it to protect his eyes but rather to make use of a chic fashion accessory which completes his look. That being the case, I feel like Mauer not wearing sunglasses had about as much effect on his game as Mauer not wearing a beard did.
  17. At the moment, our best option seems as simple as throwing in the towel and returning to an alienic state. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpqVrbylLTE
  18. Makes sense she was caught alive then.
  19. Only if you have, as the new Sheriff put it, some damn good statistics to back that hatred or love.
  20. I think some people fail to understand the purpose of spring training.
  21. Thank you! I was waiting for you to start it and didn't want a duplicate thread. OMG!! The first game is underway and I have tears in my eyes ...
  22. Likewise. I was actually just coming here to repost that neat pic of Plouffe legging it out from 1st to 3rd on a double when I saw you'd bumped this up. Not to mention I keep being logged out for no explained reason. It particularly likes to do this to me when I hit "post" after writing up an especially long bit. Beyond irritating. Btw, I am also on Chrome, and it started doing this *before* I added the Drumpfinator extension. I don't use incognito mode, but, well, yeah ... I do have adblock. However, I'm not promoting it in any way, and if I could somehow figure out how to keep pages loading quickly, even with a gazillion ads all over the screen, I wouldn't mind it. It's just that it's a waste of time otherwise. Sorry ... this is bad enough.
  23. Idk, but my parents certainly do. :-/
  24. This is fantasy, Hrb. To add to that (now that you're no longer hovering over my shoulder), one of the two things I really, really want to learn is tae kwon do. The other is riding a motorcycle. You know good and well I don't have a chance getting my father to teach me karate (or much else, for that matter), and he probably isn't a very qualified black belt at this point in his life anyway.
