  1. Why do people think Nunez should not or will not be traded? He has had a very good yr at the plate and can play multiple positions. That is perfect for a contending team. Get what you can for him while he is having a career year and replace him with Jorge polanco. I'm not saying give him away but if you can get even one decent prospect take it. Santana should be moved and should bring you a top 200 prospect in return just based on so few decent starters being available and so much need.
  2. We do forget that a lot of these young guys have come up together and have won together in the minors. Learning to win and having a winning attitude is as important as pure skills. You keep a bunch of these young guys up and playing together that energy seems to have returned. Maybe we have something. I wanna see some big traded in coming weeks if it's not just to get all these guys up and playing together. Maybe I'm just drinking the koolaid of a little win streak but you gotta grab at anything positive sometimes.
  3. Suzuki just seem to get worse defensively. The white sox ran all over us. I don't want to keep Suzuki only because last time they tried and couldn't trade him they extended him instead! I wanna see a Murphy Centeno combo and Mitch Garver in AAA. If Garver plays well in AAA add him and bring him up in September. It would also be wonderful in we could pull a decent catcher in a Santana or Dozier or Nunez trade. Not holding my breath on that one though.
  4. Well you can't send him down without losing him on waivers. He is a guy that will have a little value at the trade deadline to a team that thinks they might have a chance or a team that loses a corner outfielder. He probably isn't on the team past August 1. The guy can't figure out how to hit a fastball up in the zone and can't lay off a breaking ball in the dirt and the league figured that out.
  5. The next month and a half there should be some serious bullpen changes. Jensen traded for anything, Abad should get you a low level prospect. Tonkin can't hold runners and doesn't have dominate stuff, he will never make it in MLB. If you can get anything for him do it. Jason Wheeler, shaggy, Burdi should all get long looks in the bullpen.
  6. An outfielder I always think of and a best cases scenario for Sano is Willy Mo Pena. Big dude was pretty athletic early in his career, even played some CF I think. Now he never hit well enough but was a big dude and was athletic. Not sure what he was listed at weight wise.
  7. I wasn't suggesting Lagares would replace Buxton long term or even be the CFer long term. He would be much more of a insurance policy can manage CF if buxton isn't ready and would provide insurance if Rosario falls on his face. He would be a guy you buy low on and hope you could turn him next offseason.
  8. What would you think of the twins calling the Mets to see what it would cost to take Juan Lagares. They have 5 outfielders and he I more then capable of taking over CF and would be a great 4th outfielder and defensive replacement late in games. What do you think he would cost and is he worth it?
  9. The question is does Logan Darnell get claimed? Are the twin banking on no one claims Darnell and they can go into ST with both. Gather up enough lottery tickets and hope you hit on one? I'm a Darnell fan but he struggled in the bullpen in AAA early and is a soft tosser without great lefty splits. I could see were he goes unclaimed.
  10. Do you Zach Granite or Tanner English can turn into serviceable MLB 4th outfielders? Or do both just seem destined for minor league organizational depth? Big year for both
  11. I see both sides of the coin. He isn't wonderful at anything, he isn't getting any better but he can play a few positions and he can hit when given limited at bats. There isn't a better option as a bench guy. I don't want to see polanco waste service time and development time sitting on the bench. The only other guy I see is James Beresford to fill that role but we haven't seen him in the majors for some reason.
  12. Would love to see the organization keep every possible catcher at catcher until proven they can't catch. Everything I've read says he has a pretty good arm and seems intelligent. Look how valuable Chris Hermann was around the league. It would be awesome to find another guy who could possible hit much better then Hermann did. Gotta like catchers who can play other positions adds a lot to a MLB bench.
  13. I personally like the left handed options we have internally. Rogers has put up excellent numbers against lefties and Darnell finished the season strong. Even pat dean as an option.
  14. Eric fryer also signed with the Angels. I'm guessing the twins will need to find a minor league catcher.
  15. Best thing going for the twins this year is the emergence of Eddie Rosario and Aaron hicks! People inside and outside of the organization have said buxton and sano would be special. We haven't seen in from buxton yet but the addition of Eddie and Aaron for the future looks bright. If only we could add some high end pitching to go with the young core. But hoping the youth movement continues.
  16. If he gets to the majors he is going to be hitting 9. If he can slap singles, steal some bases and play good defense I like it. I'd take Ben revere like guy at SS.
  17. I would guess that boras is going to ask for the moon early and end up settling very late with a team on a one year deal. Or a team will vastly over pay for Weiters.
  18. Here is Hermanns likely last chance with the twins. Suzuki goes down twins trying to make a late season playoff push. Can he play well for a couple games maybe a couple weeks and pull a Matt Tolbert in 2009.
  19. Weiters is the only guy on this list I'd touch. That would have to be for pretty reasonable $. The other guys aren't much upgrade over what we have and or would block what we have coming. If your not getting one of the ace starters we don't need more middle of the road pitching.
  20. I really like Weiters but not for that price to rent. This season has been cutie but we aren't winning a playoff series if we get there. I want nothing to do with renting a player unless it's for giving up $ or peanuts. Unless this trade comes with a signing of Weiters which it won't I'd just wait till the offseason and kick the tires on him then.
  21. I like the idea. Nunez isn't going to last at SS. If you could pick him up for a few low level prospects or 1 mid level I would do it.
  22. I look around the league at the 3Bs and there are a lot of weak ones. With Sano on the horizon what kind of value does Trevor have? He has 2 yrs remaining of arbitration eligibility, he has hit well and has turned into a solid defender. Can you trade him this yr and get a top notch pitching or catching prospect? Thoughts
  23. How and why do you think van slyke can play CF? The guy is like 6'5 and 230. I know he is pretty athletic but that would be the worst outfield defense in the world with Arcia van slyke and hunter. I personally think van slyke is awesome but no way he fits here in MN with the way the rosters put together
  24. Anyone you draft is a risk. The twins need top of the rotation pitching and there pitching is very rhp heavy so a lefty is huge. Give me Aiken if he is there at 6 and let him sit out a year and rehab with us. The nice thing is if you take him at 6 you likely can get him below slot $ and spend that elsewhere in the draft.
  25. We get some decent players around here and everyone thinks they have excessive amounts of value and we should trade them. A good utility guy is a life saver through out the season, injuries poor play, suspensions happen. A guy who can come in and play anywhere in the infield and be solid defensively. Puts the ball in play, can run a little has sneaky power. He doesnt have any above average tools which is why he doesnt have a lot of value but he also doesnt have much weaknesses. I wouldnt be suprised if guys miss time this yr and Escobar gets close to 400 AB's. Escobar doesnt have much trade value around the league but can give the Twins great insurance value for multiple positions.
