  1. By that logic, why does Bruno even travel with the team then? He could just Skype all his players to watch their swings and hang out in Cali...I need to get on that plan
  2. Wouldn't it be better to work WITH Bruno than sending him to AAA to work away from him??
  3. Pleasantly surprised they haven't completely sucked, which is what I expected. They'll keep me interested to watch them progress...there may be hope after all. Woo hoo!!
  4. Mauer - dude hits, period. How those hits happen, who cares. He's never been a power (HR) hitter, and never will be. Enjoy the hitting prowess.
  5. Agree. He will never get *too expensive* for the Twins...
  6. None. Go year to year with him. They control him for at least 3 more years (can't remember exactly how long). He isn't going to get overly expensive. Just live with the year to year deals
  7. Only need 3 1/3 innings more of scoreless baseball and Big Pelf has himself a quality start!!!
  8. But Mastro gets after it....and battles his tail off
  9. Pinto is only in the lineup because Gardy saw Punto in the A's lineup, and got confused.
  10. Ratliff and *If he wants 10 million...* ARG!!! This team is going to HAVE to overpay to get pitchers here. On a one year deal, who cares if they give Johnson 10M.!?!?!? It drives me nuts...
  11. Im guessing since their dream is to play in the Majors, and the AFL is supposed to be for high level prospects, they jump at the chance and don't have to be asked if they want to
  12. Power hitting SHOULD be valued as it's the quickest way to put runs on the board...last I checked, more runs scored generally means more wins. What I don't get, is the game has changed from the 70's/80's way of playing ball, and the Twins just now are slowly starting to move away from that. What has taken them so long?!?! Oh well, more of a half hearted rant while enjoying a super surprising 500 team for as long as possible.
  13. Re: K rate and innings pitched: The internet rules.... 2013 MLB Baseball Pitching Statistics and League Leaders - Major League Baseball - ESPN 2013 MLB Baseball Pitching Statistics and League Leaders - Major League Baseball - ESPN The data is available to interpret as you wish
  14. Probably more of a mental thing than a physical thing. Yu was probably super focused on getting the perfect game as the game wore on, that there is a natural let down after giving up the hit being so close. Probably tough to re-focus, and probably a way to have Yu acknowledged by the crowd. I'm betting it wasn't pitch count related
  15. Beauty! Love KC as the slump-buster.
  16. Gotcha. I was just saying in general. Yup, adding to the win total by batting order optimization is a no-brainer in my book.
  17. Yup. It's about expectations. Realistically, there is no way the Twins are competing for the playoffs this year.
  18. Tough to rip Gardy on opening day...when it's 30 some degrees out. They aren't playing in optimal conditions obviously, and even though they are professionals, it's tougher to predict what's going to happen when it's that cold. Whose to say it might take Burton longer to warm up in the cold?!?!? All in all, I was happy it was a decent game. The way it started I thought it would be a 10-0 blowout. In a rebuilding year, close entertaining games are always two thumbs up
  19. Delmon Young!! Hehehehe, just seeing that name gives me hope the Tigers might choke (I know he isn't with them anymore, but any team willing to take him on isn't the brightest)
  20. Pretty spot on, although ranking Hicks that high coming out of the gate seems a touch optimistic. (which is probably a good thing, since this team is gonna suck )
  21. 500 April - Nope. 500 for the season - Nope. The sentence *While the success of the team is dependent on the rotation..* says it all. They just switched bodies around, never really *upgraded* the rotation
  22. Slama. It's gotta be him. When is he ever going to produce in the minors so he gets a shot with the big club?!?!?! Kidding aside, I would envision there isn't a whipping boy because there is just going to be too many candidates for sucktitude. Punto was a weak link on a good team, so he was an easy target, Butera was historically bad; another easy target. With this team, there could be multiple players to fit the bill....
  23. I thought he was going to playing TE for the Browns?!?!? 3B for the Indians too, love it!
  24. Reading the article (specifically the game accounts), make Benson seem like a hopeless cause I'd love for them to go full blown youth movement in the outfield with Benson/Hicks/Parm (until Big O is ready).
