  1. 59 win team. This team is awful.
  2. I don't have much at all... And it's not that I didn't expect it to be bad, but when it's bad, it's good to have youth learning and taking their lumps. Having older players in there getting roughed up does nothing for me; actually, it just makes me apathetic.
  3. Awesome math!! Just wanted to point that out. That's all. Have a great day
  4. I think it would be in the best interest of both the Twins and Dozier to go year to year.
  5. I'd rather the players get the money than the owners, but man, this just seems like a bad move. Best case scenario, he puts up MVP #'s for 4 years, and the Twins lose money going to arb...but that would suggest they are actually winning games too...whatever, I guess. Not my money, I just don't want the *50% of our revenues will be for payroll* and having a useless contract on hand preventing the team from improving
  6. Considering Nelson Cruz was the only MLB'er to hit 40 HR's last year, I don't see Arcia jumping up that high. Love the dudes energy and swing, but if the Twins get 30 out of him, they should be more than happy.
  7. Mr Burns had the fix in for sure!!
  8. I'd like to see Sano too....but if Plouffe is holding off Sano, that means he is playing extremely well, and I'd be all for that. Anything to make this club better.
  9. Good for him. Proves baseball (and the Twins) is flush with money.
  10. I'm not disagreeing, just happy that he is *catching up* rather than to ignore the problem
  11. Probably reactive...but I'm guessing because they figured their pitching would be in a better place by now, and it's not. Looks like TR bit the bullet because pitching hasn't turned out as he had hoped. Which is exactly why signing Santana/Nolasco/Hughes, even if it has the potential to *block young prospects*, makes sense. Pitchers/pitching is too fickle to plan too far ahead
  12. Santana - nice grab. Again, if we actually end up having a pitching logjam that blocks such talented pitchers, that would be a great problem to have.
  13. I guess I don't see why they can't bench them, or why they can't trade them (and eat most of their contract)....to me, holding out hope that all the kids in the minors are going to succeed and be at least an MLB average pitcher is not a smart move. Way too many pitchers flame out, blow out their elbow/shoulder, etc. Get pitching while you can, worry about the *logjam* when you actually have one.
  14. Sorry, that was typed somewhat tongue-in-cheek....
  15. I think that's the problem....no one really believes they'll get their chance to *play* because of the slow promotion. Berrios, man, I don't expect to see him until 2017...
  16. I'm not saying they will, but WHY can't they just eat the contract??? It's a sunk cost, the revenues continue to go up....
  17. If the real talent is in AA and AAA and is ready to move up, that's a great problem to have. Pitching can always be dealt somewhere (salary dump, C level prospects, whatever).
  18. Sign em. Twins pitching has been horrible the last couple years. Add the talent, worry how it fits later
  19. Yup! Revenues at an all-time, why shouldn't the players get more rather than the owners continuing to rake in profits. It's not like the beer prices at Target Field have gone down....
  20. Yeah, but the 87 Twins had the almighty pitching power of Mike Smithson!!!
  21. Probably no room with the way the Twins are putting this thing together.....which is depressing. At least another year, and probably two (going on 5 strong) of non-contending baseball.
  22. Which I guess is my point....why bring in an old OF, that is nearly replacement level, that isn't going to transform the teams fortunes, AND has a no trade so you can't flip him for assets (without his permission) at the trade deadline?? Just seems odd
  23. Seems odd so many people are so sure he'll put up good numbers....How many 40 year old OF's put up good numbers? There's a reason there are few 40 year olds in the MLB period.
  24. Spelling - yeah it bugs me, but I can't get too worked up about it, because twitter/fb/etc have encouraged crappy spelling. Ex-Twins - I don't think they let any of these former player go due to money...mainly, due to performance. If those players performance improved, perhaps examining the coaching/philosophy is warranted, but just bringing the player back isn't going to solve anything Pitchers - Mostly agree on Nolasco and Milone. Big Pelf, he has never really been *good*. So I can understand the angst in trying to get rid of him. 90 loss seasons - Yup, totally agree. You can argue they've done a crappy job flipping the roster (and perhaps relying on a crappy strategy), but you can't argue they just keep bringing the same guys back
  25. Maybe he's one of those dudes that doesn't really *love* baseball, just plays it because he has always been good at it...At least that's kind of the vibe I'm picking up from reading stories like this
