  1. Yeah, we go way back. For awhile I actually knew him as Willy Nye, the wets-his-bed guy.
  2. Did Molitor not learn the "Duke Shouldn't Pitch to Righties" lesson on Thursday?
  3. Dozier just sent this over to me, and asked me to share in response.
  4. Hmmm, he may have done it wrong. Perhaps we should have had Dozier bunt.
  5. Danny says that in order to score Castor on a single you have to take into account the exit velocity of the batted ball, the arm strength of the outfielder, and the foot speed of one Jason Castro. I didn't realize Billy Nye did color commentary for WCCO.
  6. Danny goes off the board, and states his belief that Dozier should not be told to bunt. That's some great strategy there, Dazzle.
  7. If the Twins do come back to win this one, you have to give Lynn some credit. Terrible first inning, regrouped and gave us 3 more innings to give us time to adjust. I always hate it when the Twins get to a pitcher early, only to see him go another few innings, so I appreciate being on the other side of the coin.
  8. You're right, the players are competitive, and do have careers on the line, which is probably why Sisco was attempting to get on base any way he could. Refusing to take a free base hit because the game is out of hand is more indicative of a lack of competitiveness. I don't disagree there are unwritten rules (like not taking too long to circle the bases on a homer, or not gesticulating wildly for 20 seconds after striking out a batter), and that they make sense. This is just an unwritten rule that is utterly laughable, with no reason to exist.
  9. Oh definitely! If only 5 more guys would follow his lead and homer with the bases empty, we'd be in business!
  10. Danny Gladden: "fly to right center, Kepler calling it...and that's gonna be Kepler calling it."
  11. 1. Comments on a comment board will always outnumber comments by the player. There's far more of us. 2. The reason why we're commenting is that we're incredulous that a bunt in that situation would raise eyebrows. Why exactly, is what happened not ok? 3. The runner the Orioles did not hold on came with two outs. Isn't it possible the Orioles decided it was better to play a true defense in an attempt to get the third out, rather than prevent a slightly higher chance of a stolen base? 4. If it's not a big deal, then why do they care if things are done that way or not? As Sisco accurately pointed out, the Orioles were able to load the bases for Schoop and Jones--two guys quite capable of hitting a grand slam and turning a blowout into a game, particularly against a guy around 100 pitches who might be tiring. Is it not the number 9 hitters job to set the table for the big bats at the top of the order? That's exactly what Sisco did, and if the O's clubhouse thinks playing smart and until the final out is recorded is something that shouldn't be done, they're in for a long year.
  12. Lynn and Gibson seem to be in a walking contest.
  13. I came in halfway through his thought, and only heard him say that Sisco is a young player, and the Orioles do have veteran leadership. Also, Dozier thinks Taillon should man up and swing the bat. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of veterans in the Pirates clubhouse to take care of it.
  14. That's 2 bunts for base hits to third already today--any chance Dozier isn't the clubhouse leader we've been led to believe? Also, surprise surprise, Danny thinks Dozier's comments were absolutely correct.
  15. Is this a typo, or did you mean to spell it like that? If you meant to do that, I think you've spent too much time with Pokemon.
  16. Exactly. It's like a basketball team getting upset that when they double the post, the offense takes an open 3. Or a football team fuming when the offense passes the ball every time they put 8 in the box. I don't mind some of baseball's unwritten rules, but the Infallible Guide to the Appropriateness of Bunting drives me insane.
  17. That quote by Dozier was one of the dumbest things I've ever read. I want every team to bunt against the Twins when they shift now.
  18. I mean, you have 8 guys in the pen, a day off tomorrow, and a day off Friday. I don't think the pen needs to be saved. Barring us getting back into the game however, Kinley needs to pitch today.
  19. Completely inaccurate. Lynn has recorded 3 outs--recording none would obviously have been worse.
  20. Sorry to break it to everyone, but the Twins are winless this year when not scoring first.
  21. So you're saying they should have brought in Buxton?
