1. Comments on a comment board will always outnumber comments by the player. There's far more of us. 2. The reason why we're commenting is that we're incredulous that a bunt in that situation would raise eyebrows. Why exactly, is what happened not ok? 3. The runner the Orioles did not hold on came with two outs. Isn't it possible the Orioles decided it was better to play a true defense in an attempt to get the third out, rather than prevent a slightly higher chance of a stolen base? 4. If it's not a big deal, then why do they care if things are done that way or not? As Sisco accurately pointed out, the Orioles were able to load the bases for Schoop and Jones--two guys quite capable of hitting a grand slam and turning a blowout into a game, particularly against a guy around 100 pitches who might be tiring. Is it not the number 9 hitters job to set the table for the big bats at the top of the order? That's exactly what Sisco did, and if the O's clubhouse thinks playing smart and until the final out is recorded is something that shouldn't be done, they're in for a long year.
