  1. Rosario was MVP of the Midwest League then almost MVP at Wichita. The crowded outfield in St. Paul would appear to be the only thing holding him down.
  2. Austin Martin continued to do what he does best: put the ball in play and be aggressive on the bases. Analytics hate his style, but he puts pressure on defenses more often than not and seems to put up good AB's most of the time. Home runs are sexy, but you need guys like Dan Gladden and Martin to fire up a lineup.
  3. Greg Gagne was a big part of our championship teams without a big offensive profile. Houston has only to hit as well as Gagne.....not a high bar.....IMHO
  4. Larnach taking innings and AB's from Martin is concerning. Outman surely is on probation. I don't like Roden taking AB's from our top prospects. I think by May 1st we will look a lot different and...hopefully....not too buried in the standings.
  5. A real change in philosophy would be "risking" someone claiming a DFAed Outman and swallowing the 5 million dollar tendering to Larnach. Sending Roden to AAA would just take AB's away from Gabby, Erod and Jenkins. If someone claims either Larnach or Outman then they are very desparate for outfield help. At this point nobody is giving more than a box of baseballs for Larnach.
  6. Royce doesn't do slumps, but it's getting harder to remember when he wasn't in one.
  7. Great minds think alike! Gabby's approach reminds me a bit of Luis Arraez. Viva Gabby!
  8. I feel Gabby is consistently undervalue. Very hitterish, with decent power and decent glove. The chemistry between the three reminds me of Hrbek/Gaetti waiting for their big chance. It is coming and it will be fun to watch!
  9. A lot of 20/20 guys sitting in St.Paul this year. Erod, Jenkins, Gabby, and Fedko have so much potential and will be fun to watch. Oops, I left off Culpepper!
  10. Amazing honor for someone who has never mastered play by play. A quick hint; You are on the radio, please paint a picture for us.
  11. Nobody chased out of zone breaking balls more than Greg Gagne. He had a nice career here. And Greg was fast, but rarely stole bases.
  12. It's been a lot of fun watching Erod and Gabby this Spring. They have great chemistry. With the winning run on third Emma didn't get a pitch to drive, took his walk and pointed his bat at Gabby as if to say, "You got this big guy". .......and he did......game over!
  13. Excellent take! Whether he starts game one in St. Paul, he has front of the rotation potential. Outside of Taj Bradley, I don't see that upside in our young hurlers. It will be fun to watch develope.
  14. Basestealing isn't just about speed. Look at what Josh Naylor did last year. Obviously speed helps, but I remember Greg Gagne whose first to third speed was great, but never was a stealer of bases. GG's bat to ball skills are impressive for such a young hitter. Not quite Luis Arraez, but very good.
  15. Littell is a solid "innings-eater" and would stabilize a rotation that will feature a lot of 5ish inning starts.
  16. If Byron does get injured, then you can bring up Emma. I would bet the farm OUTman passes through waivers. His AB's were not just bad they were brutal.
  17. Low expectations is a fun place to be. If Dodgers win 105, 57 times their fan base goes to bed in a bad mood. And if they get bounced in the playoffs....oy.....they will be jumping off bridges.
  18. Abel is building off a great start over his last start against his old team. Very impressive.
  19. Hard to say someone 22 years-old is in a make or break year. Perhaps if were 26 that would certainly put him in "Make-or-break" territory.
  20. Only if the offer is just too good to take. Wait until a team with realistic hopes of contending overpays.
  21. As a fan, going into a season rooting for a team with very low expectations is great. A .500 season with emerging young players is much better than being a Yankee fan with a bloated payroll, high expectations and not winning it all. I've been watching baseball for 75 years now and seen some bad baseball and good baseball and it still captivates me. Hope springs eternal and with so many new faces on the field and off it is time to PLAY BALL!
  22. Zack Littell is the definition of a "innings eater". Not sexy, but would be helpful to a staff of "5 inning" guys. I never understood why thet let him go in the first place.
