  1. Abel is building off a great start over his last start against his old team. Very impressive.
  2. Hard to say someone 22 years-old is in a make or break year. Perhaps if were 26 that would certainly put him in "Make-or-break" territory.
  3. Only if the offer is just too good to take. Wait until a team with realistic hopes of contending overpays.
  4. As a fan, going into a season rooting for a team with very low expectations is great. A .500 season with emerging young players is much better than being a Yankee fan with a bloated payroll, high expectations and not winning it all. I've been watching baseball for 75 years now and seen some bad baseball and good baseball and it still captivates me. Hope springs eternal and with so many new faces on the field and off it is time to PLAY BALL!
  5. Zack Littell is the definition of a "innings eater". Not sexy, but would be helpful to a staff of "5 inning" guys. I never understood why thet let him go in the first place.
  6. Ka'lai Rosario was voted MVP in the Midwest League and was close to the MVP at Wichita last year. Apparently, he made impression on someone. I do agree that the team needs to "86" some of these players to shine. The Saints will be exciting to see this year.
  7. I thought the same thing. What do the O's do with an excess of right handed first basemen.
  8. We had no chance of beating the White Sox to the #1 pick when the Pope is a Sox fan. A very unfair advantage.
  9. I totally agree with SWR leapfrogging Ober in the rotation. I think Ober is getting into "prove-it" territory, especially with the young guns lining up behind him.
  10. Being a baseball fan is never easy. The very best team's fan base goes home at least 62 times disappointed, they kick their furniture (Please don't kick the dog). Baseball is about the stories (IMHO), winning and losing, that's why you're a fan. Winning a World Series is a wonderful story and those of us who have experienced it will cherish it, but I still cherish La Tortuga chugging around 3rd base just as much. See you at the park!
  11. Excellent point about the chance for a high draft pick. At a crucial point you have to make tough decisions. I, for one, will not miss Correa's GIDPs.
  12. Tear the whole thing down. Create a new league with a $500,000 salary cap. The Ohtanis and Judges won't play for that and the talent level would decline, but soon enough you will always fill the rosters with young athletes willing to play baseball for $100,000. When the super payed stars get tired of sitting around the house and coaching the little leaguers they will come back. I love watching players playing for the love of the game.
  13. Don't forget Javy Baez went from, "Where do we play this gut", swinging at pitches headed for the Detroit River to having his first solid offensive year in awhile.
  14. Our new hitting coach turned Javy Baez' career around so there is hope.
  15. I heard him on that interview and was also impressed. Of course, winning will make us love or dislike him.So far...so good.
  16. We will miss Tommy Watkins personality but not so much his third base coaching. It sounds encouraging that Sizemore is added. Looks like they are fully committed to the aggressive running game. With the expected departure of Larnach and, perhaps a more limited role for Wallner, the outfield could be upgraded in terms of speed and defense. Encouraging first steps to an interesting off season for the Twins.
  17. There was a September game that SWR pitched where he was dominant and after the game gusched about how he and Pareda were in sync. Also Pareda did hit (SSS) with the Twins.
  18. Two top echelon tools can play at the MLB level. Remember Arraez had one top level tool and did alright.
  19. A positive result will be the culling from TD of a lot of haters. As a baseball fan for over 70 years the best place for a fan to be is: NO EXPECTATIONS! The '91 Twins were a last place team the year before, strange things happen in baseball. The Blue Jays struck gold with guys like Barger, Schneider and Clement. Their manager is the same guy who lost to the Twins in the playoffs. By Spring I will be tuning in to watch baseball and the haters will be going to the Lynx games. Good-bye haters, true fans will miss you......not.
  20. Will he continue the agressive base running style that emerged after the big trade off?
  21. This hire won't sell a lot of tickets, but if we start winning the fans will come back. The haters have come out of the woodwork (LOL), but let's give it time.
  22. Ober? That's a lot of chopped liver to be overlooked.
