  1. I don't like the trade, but it isn't 1/100th as bad as people on here seem to think. That's my .02 What it continues to show to me is Ryan is much better at selling than buying.
  2. 1. Are we developing the kids or trying to win? I hear all this talk about bringing up every prospect in AA or AAA, then hear we should send down Santana. Doesn't make much sense to me, he clearly has the most potential of the SS on the roster. 2. WAR and other metrics are helpful, but to solely use them to fill out a roster is beyond foolish. Especially at a position like catcher. Can the Twins replace Suzuki? Sure, but how will the new catcher work with the pitchers, call a game, go through line ups and all the other off day reports with the pitchers? I'm in agreement to look for a new younger catcher, but simply saying he's 17th of 18 in some stat is waaaaay to simplifying things. AJ is a perfect example. 3. Tonkin is a AAAA reliever imo. He seems to almost be used as a ROOGY or whatever you want to call a one or two out righty. 4. The Duensing stuff is starting to get hilarious. 5. I have no desire to see Arcia's lack of defense in RF on a regular basis. Any hitting will only negate the horrible defense. His future is as a DH, and I'd rather have Sano. Also, I'm not about to move four guys positions to make room for Arcia as DH. 6. Arcia for Rosario? So the same offensive numbers a drop in speed and a big drop off in defense? Haven't we learned over the past couple years that defense in the outfield is important, especially with pitchers K rates in the 6's? 7. I agree a May for Pelfrey swap is coming if they don't make a trade. 8. The Twins need an 8th inning reliever and to have Fien pitch the 7th. I don't see TR bringing in an 8th inning guy. Too bad we couldn't trade Arcia for one.
  3. I thought I heard he was fielding at first base when it happened. Is that true? Should we read anything into that?
  4. I don't see where Arcia fits on this team currently. Backup left field and backup DH is about it. 1-2 games a week.
  5. The majority of the time that a player is making a "productive out" they are just going the other way. And it generally is when a batter already has 2 strikes.
  6. We construct our line up with our 15 old team as: 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1 instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 3 lead off hitters, 2 #2 hitter ect. So for the Twins it might be more like: 1. Dozier 2. Mauer 3. Rosario 4. Sano 5. Hicks 6. Suzuki 7. Plouffe 8. Hunter 9. Santana
  7. I'd go after one of the Rockies if the price is reasonable. I suspect Lucroy is going to cost too much for my taste. The Twins are probably a few years away from legit conversation for a World Series crown, so I don't want to pay a lot this year.
  8. I hope not, that would be allowing the inmates to run the clubhouse. I must admit, I've have wondered the same however.
  9. Very true they've been inconsistent to say the least. My comments were more so about this game
  10. I agree to a point, Plouffe and Hunter were completely robbed in the 8th and 9th innings. KC's defense is very good and were the main reason they won imo.
  11. True, but you give your guys another at bat likely against another KC reliever not named Davis or Holland. Normally I don't make this complaint, but a series closing game against the division leader is worth it to me. If that means Perk is not available tomorrow against Baltimore, so be it.
  12. Hip hip Jorge!
  13. A chance to win 3 of 4 at the division leader. Yost uses Holland in the 9th, Molitor trots out Boyer and Thompson. Series ends 2-2 5minutes later.
  14. This was the day to use Perkins in the 9th, games against the division leader are too important. KC had no problem using Holland.
  15. So no change they sign Sawyer? Bummer.
  16. I swear half this board wants a team of rookies.
  17. If Molitor put Meyer in that situation, I would have turned off the TV and started a fire Molitor thread. The kid has a chance to be a good one, but he's now where near good enough right now to get us out of a 10th inning jam.
  18. The Twins are lacking an 8th inning reliever for sure, but I don't see one suddenly arriving. Molitor is going to have to mix and match or run Perkins out in the 8th more often.
  19. Santana should be in the pen, the other five deserve to stay in the rotation for now. Santana might be just working into shape in AAA, but the numbers are not encouraging. He also should be willing to go into the pen since he burned us cheating.
  20. Because throwing him in any high leverage situations would scare the crap out of me.
  21. I didn't realize his numbers were that good in relief. He realistically could be called up after the deadline or Sept. if he continues pitching well in relief.
  22. Theilbar's WHIP is 1.55 and has been dropping for some time, his numbers are skewed by a couple bad outings. You can switch Acter for Darnell, fine by me.
  23. So, does a single and a stolen base mean the thread was a success or a failure?
  24. Time to send out Thompson and Tonkin and bring up Thielbar and Darnell. Thompson has really fell off a cliff since a nice start, Tonkin isn't even trusted to pitch a full inning unless it is mop up time.
