    I've been clamoring for cole since July. Again a couple of weeks ago before the thread turned into which pitcher people would rather have and this that and the other thing. I believe I suggested Gordon,Romero, Thorpe and possibly Wade or another 15-30 guy. Is that legit to get Cole? He just seems like a guy who could be a cy young guy with a change of scenery hopefully.

    I was wanting Cole at the deadline. He has ace stuff and a bit of a chip on his shoulder. I believe he is due for a cy young break out season and his team control matches up with our window. I'll take a guy like this over a couple of prospects. What about Gordon, Romero, Thorpe and Wade? Does that get it done? ID rather keep Gonsalves over Romero at this point. Not sure why. Romero reminds me too much of Liriano at this point in his career.

    Even if they are one and done. This season has put a lot of confidence in our young hitters that only helps down the road. I'm also pleasantly surprised to see super Joe hitting and getting on base again at his pre concussion mark. Maybe they surprise some people in october

    Very good article. Funny to remember following these guys since those days. I remember looking up stats and seeing how these guys were doing back in those days. That was the last time the twins were relevant wondering how these guys would contribute with a Mauer( pre concussion MVP days) or a Liriano ( waiting to regain top form post TJ) and Morneau or Span. Funny how things change fast. They are in good hands now or at least better more modernized hands. The Twins collapse was bound to happen looking back now. When the game passes you by that much and you refuse to acclimate its inevitable. Hindsight is always 20/20 though.

    I like them all. Let's do this now. The more we are content sitting on our hands waiting for prospects to hit their peak the more our window turns to early to mid 2020's I think. We must remember how long it takes for a prospect to get acclimated to the majors. Rarely do they come in and dominate right away. Berries was kin of an advanced pitcher for his age and he took a whole season almost to hit his stride. Gonsalves and Romero become regulars next year. Maybe?!?! All of a sudden we're looking at 2019 now barring any injuries or developmental setbacks. We've got our core now. Let's add in some pitching and start going for it next year!

    Good for Stewart! Maybe he's not a #1 like we hoped but might be a solid 3. Never know as well. Could turn into a late bloomer ace someday as well. I still like this kid no matter what his K numbers are.

    Not only this but they blew it multiple times in the 2000's by not trading anyone to boost a run. They coveted guys like Gibson and Arcia and such not "trading away the future" in order to stick to the plan of winning the division and getting bounced in the first round cause no help was ever added. So they got burned twice. 1) Never went past the first round. 2)The future they wouldn't deal for immediate help to win a title led to 5 years of cellar dwelling and we're now just getting back on our feet. Forget prospects! You keep a few to add depth to the big club but if the right deal is there trade them!

    Forget about all these guys. Forget about whether or not Nick Gordon sticks at shortstop.Are the Pirates open to trading Cole? That's what I want to know. If so what does it take? Is his value down right now? Could he be had for Gordon, Romero, and a few throw ins? He has ace potential. Is in his prime. Controllable for a few more years. Is this a guy we give up Gordon and maybe another of our top 3-5 for?

    I would trade Prospects for established MLB players any day of the week. The prospects almost never become what you want them to be and if we get a couple years of solid pitching that's a win in my book whom ever is on the table. I would keep Gonsalves and maybe Stewart as it's nice to slip those guys in at the back end of a future rotation. As for the rest of them. Sell em all!!! The goal is to win in the next 4-5 years and waiting on prospects is a futile effort.

    If they are close at the deadline you gotta go for it. Too many times we waited in the 2000'sfor our star prospects to come up and we ended up with 2011 and we all know the story from there. I admire the Royals way of thinking. They have no farm system left but they have 2 WS appearances and one ring. And sure as hell theyre looking to buy right now when everyone thought they'd be sellers this season. Got to strike while the iron is hot. At least set yourself up for the near future. No need to sell the farm but you don't need every prospect either.

    Btw... the Twins are in first place. I don't see them trading Dozier unless Gordon is putting up video game numbers and making every play hit to the left side. Just sayin...

    The one thing I like about this draft is there seemed to be a plan. Not just based on scouting or analytics but the combination. Twins drafts have always seemed to be behind the times and purely based on scouting. That's fine but the analytics will find you guys that have the upside you're looking for I think. Love Enlow. His stuff is electric and he has lots of room to grow. Very good pick.

    A crafty lefty. Not impressed. Need these guys but we have plenty already. Ok we've saved some money now. Time to use it on some HS projection before we get too deep here.

    I love this pick. Seems to have the high end projectibility with some growth. Adding a few ticks on the fastball and refining a changeup. Curveball is there already. Watched a few videos and it looks nasty. Fastball looks to have some good movement especially if he can add some velocity to it. With this pick I'm understanding the strategy a bit. I like this pick and I think a few things happened yesterday that turned the course towards Lewis, Rooker and Leach. I wish there would have been another pitcher in that first group of 3 but I'm good with all the picks so far.

    This is puzzling. Big things??? This seems like a typical twins move. Hope this kid turns out to be the Canadian.... I got nothing. Lol! Maybe a diamond in the rough I guess.

    If de Leon and Alvarez are on the table you take it. Dozier will not have more value. This team doesn't need him. They need pitching. The market for 2nd basemen is not good. I feel the nats sold themselves short and the sale trade was on par. This is what they are getting. They're not getting the prospect haul everyone thinks they should be getting. Sucks but that's the market. Plain and simple. Just as I've said before.

    I understand bellinger being a legit pretty much ready prospect. I just don't think we get the dodgers 1 and 2 realistically. I believe de Leon and Alvarez are going to be our best bet. Along with a 3rd throw in. Is abdullah still in the organization? Just saying if we're waiting for bellinger and de Leon we might as well look forward to 2 years of dozier.

    Why do we want bellinger? I would rather take another pitcher or 3 instead. Unless he is a stud OF in that he will be playing there for the next 7-10 years. 1B is Sanos home after Mauer leaves. Just my take.

    I compare this to a knoblauch trade. The team isn't in as dire need as that team was but it needs to be a changer. We have no one else who can bring back what we need. The johan trade was not that dire. We had pieces then and were close. Just not the money at the time. I think the FO sees this as a kick start to contention in that we need to stockpile pitching to go with our young hitters.

    Strong start? Only compared to the previous regime perhaps. This is what a front office in 2016 does. Am I happy about the move? Absolutely! Let's just see what happens in the coming weeks. Hopefully a dozier trade for pitching prospects and a few tricks from their sleeves maybe. That would be a strong start. Let's see what you boys got!

    May should never have been a reliever this year. For a team with the worst everything in the pitching categories it boggles my mind why we are even talking about this.

    It's easy to be this humble when minimum wage is 6 figures plus. We must remember this is a business. In the real world it takes people their whole careers to make this much money. It's a business and sometimes we lose sight of this. Just my bitter two cents haha.

    This is good to hear. Not your normal Bill Smith or gardy getting a job under TR just to have a job. Like what was said a one in a million personality and a guy who has been around with winning organizations his whole career and knows what it takes to win. This would be a solid move and not from the old boys club perspective. He's not Minnesota nice and shoots from the hip. The twins need this.

    I like it. Only thing is who is the coach? If it's molly I don't know if Mauer is doing against righties only which is what he should be doing. This year will not be to compete but to build for 2018. Not sure if our coaching staff allows for this. Does falvey keep the coaching staff all season? So much is up in the air right now.
