  1. Any chance that the Twins looked at a lockout and potential lost 2027 season and to some degree see players controlled through 2027 and only being controlled, possibly/probably, through 2026 so sell what you can while you can? Having read Nashville Twins post, I'd now like to delete this, haha.
  2. Minnesota Twins trade Jhoan Duran (and 2 others: Castro, Coulombe, Stewart) to the Phillies. The Twins trade Joe Ryan to the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox trade Jarren Duran to the Phillies. The Twins receive Andrew Painter and two other top 100 prospects (Tait and Crawford?) from the Phillies and 1 top 100 prospect (Payton Tolle) from the Red Sox. There's alternative options, including if you could get Aiden Miller from the Phillies instead of Tait and Crawford, and who exactly goes to the Phillies. But both buyers fill big needs and the Twins get some very top prospects.
  3. Don't trade John Santana...until you're forced to Don't trade Liriano...until he has an injury history and performing poorly Don't trade Jose Berrios...until you're forced to. Yes, trade Joe Ryan (and at least of Duran/Jax). Joe is a good pitcher but this is likely peak Ryan. No, I don't think others will give up a package as if he's a top 10 starter and perennial All Star. But the return will be solid and with 2+ seasons of control we've seen teams who may be a year away be the highest bidder. This core is not it. The Twins squandered the last few years not reinforcing or spending money. It's time to accept that and hit a reset towards '27 or '28. The Twins are bleeding fans; mediocrity will not get us to return. Stock up WHEN YOU CAN and hope the new ownership group and front office will make wiser decisions when the next window opens.
  4. Let’s not ignore the fact that the Twins have $100M in payroll next year plus an arbitration class that includes Lewis, Duran, Ober, and Ryan. I can’t see them adding a big long term contract right now. But maybe they’ll get an opportunity to offer another pillow contract
  5. 100% against trading Larnach. He needs consistent work. I wonder how many people for trading Larnach away before he’s been given a full look also were wanting to trade away the farm for Danny Jensen or another C last offseason when it was obvious Ryan Jeffers just needed a little more time and consistency. And look what happened. I fully believe Larnach is capable of the same if given a solid chance. Tom Kelly always preached 1500 AB’s. Maybe that’s too much but I think it’s more accurate than 700 inconsistently spread over 3 years.
  6. The umpire scorecard on this game might be worse than yesterday, which heavily favored the Jays.
  7. You might not love the ph but at least you’re not a Bluejays fan. They have something to gripe about. Castro can have an impact still.
  8. Give me Luplow and Stevenson who each meet a specific team need. Sorry Buck
  9. Between Jeffers, Gordon, Farmer and Taylor the bench has been upgraded from just bench players to could be starting on a marginal or bad team players. Assuming relative health of the starters, hopefully Buxton and Correa can keep the team a cohesive unit.
  10. I’ve been wondering how much of a role this sentiment played in the Twins being able to extend Paddack to what could be a very favorable deal with an agent, Boras, who doesn’t typically seem inclined to deals (though that probably isn’t a totally accurate past portrayal).
  11. This front office loves to use the word creative. If applied here, that could mean a 3 team trade where the Twins send a third team cash while the Yankees send That team Donaldson and send the Twins a player for that cash.
  12. My offer to Correa is 320 over 11 years. Sorry, but I don’t think he wants opt outs or creativity. I think he wants longevity and security like the other contracts have gotten this year.
  13. Is it cheating to do this so “late” in the off-season? Maybe but I never thought the Twins would sign the biggest FA’s, except Correa and thought they may be active on the trade front. The big trade is Kepler to the Mariners, Arraez and Larnach to the Marlins (along with an OF like Kelenic) and the Twins receive Luzardo and hometown product Myers. Luzardo has the ability to be the frontline pitcher in the playoffs. He will probably spend some time of the but the Twins have depth to deal with that. Myers can rehab in AAA if he pitches and will take a spot in 2024. It’s hard to give up 3 players but I’m replacing them with experienced hitters for the top of the order and mixing in some of the kids. The bullpen gets a couple of under the radar additions, Ober is not listed but someone will be injured. 2024 rotation already could be Luzardo, Ryan, Ober, Myers, FA/another kid/or extension of Mahle, Maeda, or Gray. C: Christian Vazquez ($10.00M) 1B: Kiriloff ($.7M) 2B: Jorge Polanco ($7.50M) 3B: Jose Miranda ($0.70M) SS: Correa ($30M) LF: Benintendi ($14M) CF: Byron Buxton ($15.00M) RF: Wallner ($.7M) DH: Brantley ($11M) 4th OF: Myers ($4M) Utility: Nick Gordon ($0.70M) Utility: Farmer ($5M) Backup C: Ryan Jeffers ($0.70M) SP1: Sonny Gray ($12.00M) SP2: Tyler Mahle ($8.00M) SP3: Kenta Maeda ($9.00M) SP4: Joe Ryan ($0.70M) SP5: Luzardo ($3M) RP: Jhoan Duran ($0.70M) RP: Jorge Lopez ($3.00M) RP: Griffin Jax ($0.70M) RP: Jorge Alcala ($1.00M) RP: Caleb Thielbar ($2.00M) RP: Aaron Sanchez ($1M) RP: Pierce Johnson ($2M) RP: Matt Moore ($5M) Payroll is 5.47% over budget
  14. I’m shocked that someone who would cheat to win isn’t more tactful? No, his being arrogant or expectant of a big pay day or whatever your take is, doesn’t surprise me at all.
  15. I don’t blame them for wanting to see him adjust to AAA but as as of this week, I don’t see many valid excuses. And while I think he could certainly be a decent MLB player I’m not sure he’s one that you worry about breaking the bank and service time so much.
  16. I’m not disputing that Lee has done well, but if you look at other top prospects, there aren’t many if any that you would move down to make room for his ascent. Most of the guys drafted above or even after him are also holding or more than holding their own at comparable levels.
  17. 2024…Brooks Lee is #1 Sorry but so don’t think he gets through Aa and AAA and gets enough bats not to qualify in 2023.
  18. Who cares about being screwed in 1 game by a bad call when poor hitting with men on base has screwed you in many, many games. 11 hits and 2 runs…that’s the problem here.
  19. I have supported this front office and I’m certain I haven’t blasted them here, but that changes now… Josh Winder is not a bullpen pitcher, having Chris Archer (some may substitute Dylan Bundy) start over him is ridiculous. And now, sending Royce Lewis to AAA (while having stubbornly continued to bat him at the bottom of the lineup) is ridiculous. These 2 young guys are clearly a part of the future and clear upgrades over whomever they would displace. I refuse to believe that a guy who is as determined and focused as Lewis is going to be ruined by playing him out of position, off SS, this year. I call BS. I have to think this is not sitting well with the best players in the clubhouse either, or his agent. Worst move(s) of the year right here. This is a shame on the FO and manager.
  20. Oh good, someone pushing the “cheap Pohlads” agenda. Too bad the Twins are sending cash to the Padres.
  21. I think I might love this trade. The loss of Rogers really hurts. BUT I love the swagger and pitches of Paddack. I wouldn’t be surprised if the thought process is to use a Paddack or a Ryan or Winder in the BP late in the season if the games matter. Pagan…the way relievers can go from stud to bust and vice versa, he may be better than many expect. Do the Twins think they’ve figured out something on home run suppression? Between Bundy and Pagan and others, I hope so!
  22. I guess I think Winder is more likely than some others think he is. Will Archer go 2 innings in his first start, and Gray maybe 3? If Winder is up to 5 innings I think may need those.
