  1. This. I think it's the right approach. You cannot give up on either. Part of the frustrating things about a young team is these types of things.
  2. I'm pretty bullish on Garver. I'd note that he had a pretty big disparity between his first two months in the FSL and the remainder of his season. Not sure if it was concussion related or just a slow start facing a harder league, but he put up numbers much closer to his MWL line once he figured it out.
  3. Hmmm... so leadoff help. Wonder if Hicks can step into that role next year. Not sure I'm ready for Buxton there just yet, but letting Dozier bat with meon on base would be nice.
  4. I really think May could be that ace we've been looking for. His peripherals indicate he can be that type of guy. I hope he doesn't get relegated to a BP role b/c of need and b/c he did well there. I hope he gets another chance to start. The more I think about it, the more I think Dave is right. Trade Gibson and Milone so that May and Duffey are starting in 2016.
  5. I think they find a way to get him up with the big club. He's managed most of these kids coming up right now and has that relationship... not to mention having the 'fire' so to speak and mananging two championship minor league teams. He's earned it. Even if his managerial future isn't with the Twins, I think they owe it to him to get him up there. I think it's good for the kids too.
  6. He got off to a very good start and fizzled. Not quite sure I'd call him done as a prospect. He was drafted out of HS. That can take some time.
  7. seems like Kepler's power of late has spiked. Wonder if he's growing into his frame a bit more.
  8. I think we tend to forget just how much age matters in the short season leagues. A lot of standouts in those leagues never amount to much, so something to be aware of, particularly for college age hitters. A few years back, we were all excited about some kid named DB Romero after he posted an OPS north of .900. He was 20 (roughly league average for his age). What was exciting about Santana and Rosario is that both were very young when they did it. Of that list, Palacios turned 19. Arraez is 18. Blankenhorn was also a highschool draftee. Those are very good signs. I hope Wade can keep it up, but he was on the wrong end of that curve.
  9. Somewhere out on a remote lake, Ron Gardenhire just felt some jaring kidney pain, and he doesn't know why.
  10. I was wondering if they could flip a guy like Dean for international dollars or a comp pick in the draft. He's pretty much ML ready and the team would have full control over him. Only real problem is that he's a back end type with little upside. That's what I would do with him at least. There's no room for him in the rotation with what's already there and what's coming up.
  11. chances are you got more value on #4 with the shorter line too.
  12. I'm encouraged by the ABW walk rate improvement. I think that will lead to a corresponding drop in Ks over time if he learns selectivity a bit better. That could be a boon for the Twins as he could be a star if he figures that out.
  13. Call me crazy, but I highly doubt Kepler and Polanco aren't playing in MLB b/c of the new affiliation.
  14. If the price is droping, I'd be all over that pick up. Problem is that he wants to close and that's not happening here. He can be assured he's next in line, but that means very little if Perkins is healthy all year.
  15. I just think they don't want to deal with the cold.
  16. This.... both of these guys got off to really bad starts and turned it around. Not quite ready to call either a suspect (though I'm not terribly high on Turner personally). That said, neither is likely to help next year.
  17. Probably not. He should start again in AA, and if he's a bit more successful this time around, he could be an addition at some point next year.
  18. Priceless. Though they are counting on people not knowing about the the ferry that will take your vehicle acorss lake Michigan that goes from (I believe) Luddington to some place just south of Milwaukee.
  19. I'm not ready to trade anyone there right now unless I get blown away (other than Plouffe). Buxton isn't ready. He needs some AAA time in 2016. Arcia would be selling low and is out of options. Kepler is on the rise, and I'd be OK with him in RF on opening day or in AAA. I'd probably trade Plouffe, move Sano to 3B, install Arcia as the primary DH, and roll with Kepler in RF (or roll with Arcia in RF with Vargas DHing). I'd target a 4th OF FA on a 1 year deal who won't be a horrible plan B if both Buxton, Arcia, and Kepler struggle.
  20. pretty sure Kepler hasn't had 32 home runs on the season. There would be quite a bit more ferver in calling him up if he did
  21. It takes time to put this stuff together. Just b/c a guy can hit 30 HRs in AA doesn't mean he's going to do well in the majors. He's being more selective, quite possibly at the instruction of his coaches. It might take some time for him to put it all together, but that K rate needs to go down and that BB rate needs to go up.
  22. I fail to see how the 9th inning is more valuable than the first inning. A run is a run. I get that you have less time to make it up per say, but if the offense does it's job, it doesn't matter if that run is in the 9th inning or the first inning. Just because a guy excels at preventing those runs for an inning late game doesn't make him a better player than the guy who did a good job preventing them for 6 straight.
  23. what bothers me most about this is the amount of people screaming to sign more pitchers (and still are I might add) yet simultaneously being upset about bad contracts. Ervin Santana was a favorite here at TD for the last two seasons. We got him now, and suddenly it's a bad contract. This is why FA is not a good idea. These contracts are untradeable and guaranteed. The worst part is that it's keeping younger guys out of the rotation. May is out right now b/c of this. Next year, either May, Berrios, Duffey, or quite possibly all of them won't be in the starting rotation despite the fact that they have all shown promise as 3 spots are locked up with these bad contracts and Gibson and Milone being deserving as well. At least Milone is very tradable, though I'll be thrilled if the return is nothing more than a real good reliever.
  24. He's gotten better each of his seasons in the minors. I'm hoping that trend continues. If so, he could be absolute steal.
  25. I would think Bats would be the next guy up if someone gets promoted to AA yet this season. He's a college pitcher who has absolutely dominated the lower levels (which I'd expect). His arm is probably also a bit more used to the rigors. I'd imagine that both Gonsalves and Stewart are getting to a point where they will be shut down.
