    Even though it's beside the point now, I can't say that I blame him. That was such a blatant missed call that you almost have to wonder who paid them off for ruling as they did.

    Why can some teams (like Boston) make hitting look so relatively simple, but we make it look so incredibly difficult? Could it be approach at the plate? I'm thinking that's at least part of the answer.

    I'd send Gray out for the 6th. What have we got to lose at this stage, given the recent state of our bullpen?

    I don't disagree with that point, but that leads to another problem. There's just not enough potentially viable alternatives above high A to get overly excited about the short-term outlook for this team. And of the few that do exist, most can't seem to figure it out at the major league level, ala Wallner and Larnach. Hence, I fully agree with your lacking in talent assessment.
