Messed up that opportunity royally. Two most strikeout-prone hitters both struck out with the bases loaded, with Buxton looking at one near the middle of the plate.
AARGH.
True enough. But I can't see this lineup scoring at least 5 more runs in this game, especially given that we've only scored three runs total in the last 19 innings and have only scored in (I think) 4 different innings this entire series.
Just being honest with myself.
I think he desperately wants to contribute positively, but since he's not playing defense, it seems as though he's taking chances at the plate, that he probably otherwise wouldn't be taking.
Hence, things aren't going well at all for him.
2nd straight game we were punched in the mouth early in the game and failed to respond in a positive manner, at home and against a supposedly inferior team.
Doesn't say much of anything good or positive about this team.
We seem to be able to score runs in bunches, but the many innings in between those events are generally just a whole lot of absolutely nothing.
That means that I basically agree that our offense is consistently bad.
That's what happens when it appears as though you weren't really trying all hard.
Not saying they weren't, it just appeared to me like that was the case.
I don't mind losing competitive games, at least not usually. Except that they were well short of competitive in any aspect of this game. That's why this team can get so frustrating, at least to me.
Almost like we expected to win and then when the Tigers punched us in the mouth, it didn't appear we had any idea how to respond.
Pretty sad, in my opinion.
