    Posters here, self included, have made it clear that the biggest thing this team can do is analyze players. And as far as SS goes, we have accomplished that goal. Polanco can't play SS!

    Robbie is going to miss Molitor, maybe more than anyone. Lol. I realize it's the end of a miserable season, and there are guys hurt, and some not called up. But Molly is just trolling the fans now, he has to be. But then again, this isn't that much different from his lineups when the season mattered. Circa 4/1/16 thru and including 4/10/16!

    l . Agree. What do the cops say at a crime scene? "There's nothing to see here folks, just move along". That's how I feel about Centeno. He is a law of averages catcher. 1/3 of the low balls bounce off to his right, 1/3 or his left, and 1/3 hit the umpire in the foot!

    I posted this in the game thread, but the more I think about it, the more I am puzzled by it. It even caused Bert to far surpass the normal level of decorum used in discussing managerial moves. "Removing Berrios in the 5th with two outs and a lead was not done because he was losing it, or because the game situation, or season demanded it. It was intentional. But for what reason? To send a message? But to whom? For what? Gardy was infamous for using that situation to either discipline a recalcitrant pitcher, or in the inverse reward a veteran by leaving him try and get the out for a cheap win. Molitor didn't remove Berrios in a poor strategic move. So why did he really jerk him?"

    Hopefully we continue our efforts at consistency, and do not get complacent. Our goal should be to end up not just with the already clinched number one pick, but also to be the only team in baseball whose winning percentage starts with a 3!

    My wife goes yearly to a weekend thing in Northern MN. For some unknownst reason she chose target shooting as an activity. Sadly she is a remarkable shot for someon with no background in the gun culture. I have developed not only a new found respect and admiration for her, but also new hiding places for the .22 single shot!

    The blessing in disguise that is the 100, and counting I might add, season is that it required the Pohlads to finally get off the dime. Or off something! With the exception of pitching, there is either some talent, or some trade chips to right some wrongs here. While I don't know what the new guys will do, I do know Ryan would have at best made cosmetic changes, and shot for a .500 finish, and a second WC. Also, if you're gonna be bad. Be epic!

    I was surprised there was ever a discussion on hots streaks? Or did I misread that part. Averages are what they are, averages over a longer time frame, year career etc. Streaks are in essence SSS, and have existed forever. As to clutch hitting I have long been a believer that clutch hitters are somewhat of an illusion. How so? I think that most of them simply perform to their overall career stats, in important situations. Basically not letting the magnitude of the event over stress them, and letting themselves "slow down", so as not to over react and do something they can't. For if simply trying harder would be enough to give you better results, then everyone would do it, and do it in every game, as trying is simply effort compounded. As to pitch framing. My neighbor and long time friend was a D2 caliber catcher. He caught for years in men's amateur ball, and then umpired for something like 26 years to levels in the state tournament range. Men's, high school and Legion. Ho told me years ago how he showed pitches to an umpire by glove postion, and lack of glove movement, and not being greedy on the ones you can't save. And he said that the same applied to an umpire. A catchers low stance, and how he sets up and receives matter, a lot. While it took stats to more widely make the concept acceptable, cathers and umpires have known it for years, although I doubt most umpires are willing to admit it.

    I have been critical of the Twins beat writers for several years. But today LEN3 put this out for out perusal. Much has been said, written, or blogged before, but this is fairly high profile. I didn't see a mention of Plouffe though. I agree with most of it, but I would really hate to see Vargas go. Park? Eh. And if Plouffe goes, it more or less removes Sano from the DH equation.
