  1. I am not sure Pinto, either as a hitter, or catcher has played enough at the major league level for his career obituary to be considered, not to speak of written. Parmalee? Possibly? It looks like Baltimore will find out that answer.
  2. "Plate discipline" is likely one of the last talents achieved by a young player. Hunter and Cuddyer come to mind. Both were chasing breaking balls down and away into their third year. Twins fans are going to learn this the hard way. There is going to be a learning curve here with all the young players. It's not going to be smooth and effortless.
  3. So will Santana be re-claimed. He has been hitting better, and the Nunez experiment is really not sustainable. It's generally considered that Polanco's arm is a little weak for short, leaving Santana as the only candidate with the physical tools for the position. As for EE, it appears he has regressed to his norm. This is still the season to find out if Santana will be the guy. Something that could have, should have been done last year.
  4. It is shocking, but should not be anymore.
  5. It doesn't help your pitchers if your fielding % approaches 50!
  6. I thought we already established there was no sense looking for the elephants?
  7. Even cooler if he lived in Wyoming!
  8. Yet again, proof that no question is too insignificant, whimsical, or non intellectual to be answered? . :)
  9. I used to pitch for a team with defense like the Cubs. But the next year in the 8th grade it got a lot better!
  10. I was preparing the faithful for the inevitable. Lol
  11. I hate to bring up baseball, but Nunez at SS, and EE in LF. 3 other letters in caps come to mind. You may arrange them as you see fit! TFW
  12. If the choice becomes Pelfrey of Milone to the pen, it should be Pelfrey. Not Becasue he deserves it, just because it's a better fit. Then ride Milone till or if he blows up. And I don't even really like Milone, it's just that he is likely most effective as a starter.
  13. IF and its a big IF, Pelfrey, Milone, and May could continue there current ways, I do think he will have a negative impact. But his being gone resulted in Pelfrey moving out of the pen, where his big arm could have helped a lot. And still might. It's gonna be a fun next couple weeks!
  14. NO! It's bad enough that they will resign Hunter!
  15. It is in a way. But I think it should be comforting to all on TD, that his legacy will live on in perpetuity. That will be a great consolation to us all!
  16. . The Zoo -- My family and I went to the Zoo Last week and as we were walking along the Zoo route, we were walking behind another family with a young boy. We got the Chimpanzee exhibit and the young boy couldn't find any. His Mom had to point out that the monkeys were kinda hiding in the tree. Then we walked up to the Elephant exhibit and the Elephant was nowhere to be seen. The Boy then asked if the Elephant was in the tree. His mom said, "No... you won't find any Elephant's hiding in the trees;" and the boy said, "They must be good at it". >>>>>>>>>>>>He sounds like a lad with a very bright future. Someday that little boy will grow up, physically at least. And that little boy will be on TD. And he will help continue a long history of inane, inappropriate comments during game threads! And when a TD'er inevitably asks "why the long face" , The Chief will answer, "He reminds me so of RiverBrian, oh how I miss him.
  17. It seems any scenario contemplated revolves around what to do with Mauer? He is the elephant in the room!
  18. You are correct! Too many DH options. But trading the best one of the bunch, IMHO, is not a good idea. Especially if he has a prayer of also being a position player. Few remember that Tony Oliva was a horrible OF when he came here. I reiterate, in a slightly different way. The Twins are notorious for investing a couple years in a prospect, then dumping him so someone else can reap the benefits. The list is long. Plouffe and Dozier likely escaped because there were no alternatives. They were so down on Dozier they attempted to turn Rosario into a second baseman!
  19. I know Arcia has defensive problems. (Likely the understatement of the post)! But I just cannot stand the thought of another player going somewhere and reading about another successful ex Twin. His numbers for his age are excellent. If he is traded it will be regretted on a David Ortiz level at a minimum. Lastly, it's purported the field staff is not happy with his attitude. They weren't happy with Hardys or Gomez, or Garza, or.... well you get the picture. Good teams adapt and adjust to personalities. I have never seen Arcias name on a police blotter or his picture in the post office. But sadly, my guess is he will get traded for some nice safe 28 yr old pitcher who had a good yr at AAA last year, and who will not cause the field staff to have to roll their eyes on occasion.
  20. Trading Pelfrey would be my choice, but it would have to be someone who is desperate for a fill in to make a run. That's not that easy to find. But whomever we trade, it should be for a catcher or a catcher prospect. I know! Easier said than done.
  21. Becasue we don't have a SS? We are stressing defense in the OF, and we sell out at short for offense. We complain that a corner OF is not a great glove man, and then put Nunez at SS. Maybe that's why our roster construction is such a mess?
  22. I always liked Hardy, the one that plays for Baltimore. I can't remember his first name, but his middle initial is J.
  23. all the Twins offense needed was instant replay and a guys whose one leg was 4 inches short!
