  1. Reusse ran into Big Papi. (fortunately not literally) This is what the Big Guy had to say about Sano in RF. I have come to believe that Ortiz will not be invited to many Twins Old Timers Games? http://www.startribune.com/david-ortiz-can-t-figure-the-logic-in-moving-miguel-sano-to-the-outfield/372568961/
  2. Ergo, selling high. In a different time and space, if the Twins were of serious contender quality, I would keep Dozier. He is a better ball player than Polanco right now, I don't think for the Twins, this is "right now". Same thing for Sano, Sano will never ever be a better third baseman than Plouffe! At least standing in RF! . Do so few remember how bad Plouffe and Dozier actually were 2-3 years ago? I am not necessarily correct, nor are others. It's solely based on what you want going forward.
  3. Polanco suffers from the Perfect Storm. He doesn't play OF, and isn't going to get enough AB's with 2B and 3B positions entrenched. IMHO he is not an upgrade defensively from EE, and this is from someone not on the EE bandwagon. EE would have to totally flame out for Polanco to get a trial, and while I like Polanco's bat, I don't think he is the answer at SS. Barring injury, his path to MLB is most likely a trade. Personally, in this period of the Twins rebuild, I would have explored selling high on Dozier, and going with Polanco. But that's just me.
  4. Not at all surprised by any name so far. The offensive roster might contain one surprise? Quentin? The SP drama only surrounds Nolasco, with Milone to the pen if he loses, and Duffey to Rochester if he draws the short straw. While the names aren't all filled in yet, the BP, will be the standard Twins BP woth May forced to the pen by the SP glut! It will still be below league average in SO's and walks, and above average in WHIP.
  5. And here I thought Berrios was in a rotation battle? On a more serious note, I wonder what the demotion of Burdi does to the Twins plans for increasing BP velocity?
  6. You can give anyone away, or trade anyone when you eat some of the salary, which I was proposing. Just a different way of eating his salary! I could have puncuated it better, but the thought was intended! . Btw, I don't do fan board moves! Any of this was going to be a financial loss for the Twins to make roster room. It's the fallout from past decisions made by non fan board management!
  7. His success last year was the reason for "The SuperSecret Plan"! It wasn't the part about being in the pen, it was the part about not telling him! BTW I don't think May started his MLB career in the pen?
  8. Shading his eyes, spitting seeds, and endlessly repeating, "I can play third, I can play third, I can........"
  9. Patrick has an article on the way the innings in ST have been distributed so far. It tweaked my interest because it touches on some of the same questions I have had, albeit in a different vein. I can understand his questions about the evaluation process, more so in the Buxton than Sano situation. Buxton I think is still in the air. Sano is in RF, done and finished. But why isn't he getting endless reps during games. He's getting the Christian Ponder Treatment, treated as the veteran he isn't. And we know how that worked out. It's going to be ugly out there, you might as well get some of the ugliness out of the way. He also touches on Arcia and Park. Anyway it's an interesting read, by a long time baseball guy! http://www.startribune.com/will-twins-sano-buxton-park-plan-pay-off-evidence-still-sketchy/372298631/
  10. Short of a couple injuries this was a forgone conclusion. Some other teams would have packaged Milone and another MiLB player for a trade, ate Nolascos salary, moved May back to the rotation, and used a combo of in house younger relievers, with one good acquisition. I know that's expensive, and proactive. But it could have been done. The Twins will let this play out for the first half of the year. It's a well known fact that games lost in April and May don't count in the standings! I don't disagree that May is an excellent late inning reliever. That said, the Twins aren't exactly sitting on a SP gold mine either!
  11. He took it with the respect for the manager and the pitching coach that this is the way we're going to go. I don't know that he was pleased." Something tells me this won't be the quote if they have the "resolve" to send Ricky to the BP!
  12. El Faro 61st and So Archer Rd. In Summit Argo, off 55. "Home of the Giant Burrito". Hole in the wall, great food!
  13. i used to get something in my stomach at Chipotle! Then they started washing the lettuce, and it went away!
  14. Speed was not the issue, nor did it appear strategy! It looked more like a guy who seriously misread the play. The run was not a contest, he gifted an out!
  15. I am going to have to work on my sarcastic talents, or what is obviously a lack thereof!
  16. The radio guys said May has been officially moved to the BP? TR will explain it in the next half inning. I can understand the outcome, and I am glad he got a fair and full opportunity to capture a rotation spot. Sadly he just couldn't keep up with the competition!
  17. I agree on the Buxton play out of theory. In a way I could apply it to Nolasco. Let him play himself out of the rotation. (Assuming they won't eat the contract) It's the only solution that has a chance of settling both the talent, and morale issue. It's the least of an unattractive set of options!
  18. I would agree with most of the Buxton scenario. He should and likely will go north. IF the Twins didn't, and decided to add the obligatory veteran OF to the initial roster, I would not be surprised. Disappointed, and resigned to our fate, but not surprised! Nolasco! Buxton is one thing, since his service time issue is apparently past being an issue, money does not rear its ugly head in the outcome. But it does with Ricky. One can rightfully surmise that Nolasco should not be part of the rotation, but then one has to consider an avenue to that decision, and that avenue would have to include historical reference. Since he will be untradeable for the considerable future, and if I wanted to bring my best team north, I would just cut him, or make a poor trade and eat salary. The BP is a horrible alternative. Actually, if he is going to be an a*^hole out there, they would be better off starting him. Let him make the move. But a leopard is still a leopard until it changes its spots, and the one in the FO is at present, still a leopard! Btw, nice backhanded shot at Ryan, "even Terry Ryan isn't silly enough....."
  19. You can't send Santana to Rochester, he is out of options. I don't totally disagree with Polano. His only use is trade bait or injury fill in. Dozier isn't going anywhere. The last time the Twins ate salary was during the Hoover administration. Nolasco won't be cut. He might go to the pen with the infamous "your the first guy up" Pelfrey Promise, but that's about it. And he presents almost as many issues in the pen as on the SP staff! He is the millstone of the roster this year! Park has admittedly surprised me, maybe he will continue to. But the book ain't written on him yet.
  20. I did not know that. Is this the cause of the infamous Sacemonto phot controversy?
  21. Every time I look to see if Sano is playing RF, he isn't. It might just be coincidence, but shouldn't he be getting every inning he can out there? I truly like Kepler, but he has as much chance as me of being on the opening roster. (Maybe less, my service time will never be an issue! )
  22. Maybe the problem wasn't bringing him up, but bringing him up and not letting him play full time. I seem to remember him sitting an awful lot. Likely another mistake caused by the push to be the second WC spot. His history while brief is exceptionally consistent. Struggles early and acclimates! I don't think yo yoing him will work.
