  1. Surely you are mistaken! It's a well known fact that Airplane is the greatest movie ever! That said, I found it disappointing that Leslie Nielsen had to share top billing with that blow up doll!
  2. I have read where Kurt is suffering from a stiff neck. If it's that cold and damp, I imagine it isn't getting better. I think this is Centeno 4th start in 7 games?
  3. I am as far from an EE fan as exists on this site, but for the love of my lawn chairs, if Nunez continues to play SS when EE comes back, it will convince me that Molitor has lost his mind. I realize hitting stats have become very complete, and pretty definitive, and that defense stats haven't. But I continue to be amazed by the use of offense stats to evaluate a defensive position. Amazed, and dismayed!
  4. I was about 800 words into a solution for the Twins when the site crashed yet again, like about the 267th time this weekend. The short version is almost everyone's opinion of the Twins is correct, because in reality, the whole team from the FO on down is currently a mess. But those who call for patience have the first step in the solution, correct. It's going to be a slog to get there, regardless of who was to blame, and the issues are so prevalent and intertwined that every move will result in the necessity for more adjustments to make the initial move work. For example trading Plouffe moves Sano, Arcia, and eventually Buxton and Kepler. You can just trade Plouffe, and move Sano, but to me that is not the end. It has to be followed by a long term adjustment of the OF. The bottom line is the team, not unlike Plouffe have this in common. All of the parts, offense, defense, pitching, as a stand alone entity could get by at this level. But combining them coordinates each parts weaknesses with the corresponding weakness of another part, i.e. PTC with poor OF defense. One would like to think that when constructing a team, one would take into consideration the PTC style of the pitching staff when allocating OF spots. Or even vice versa. But they either didn't, or have a different evaluation of players than many do. Regardless, the results are in, and they are not good.
  5. It wasn't my post, but you could leave the word college out, and end up with Chargois, Burdi, Berrios, Meyer, etc. There should be no arguement that they avoid promoting velocity like the plague!
  6. There are days this year when it seems like Ryan wakes up and says, "hey, I gotta get something done today, regardless whether it makes sense". It isn't getting rid of the caliber of Graham, although I would not have, it's the keeping him on the 25 man all last year, thought the off season and dumping him before he really got to play around in Rochester. It so willy nilly!
  7. See, exactly what I meant!
  8. Well at least now we have something to discuss besides the record. Btw, while this post was not sarcastic, we really need to get a sarcasm button on here. Some of the humor is just to subtle and refined to comprehend for some (of us)
  9. Your thoughts that Molitor should stay, and that Polanco, Kepler, Buxton, Meyer, and Chargois should play don't equate. Molitor refuses to give stable playing time to them when they are here. Until that issue is resolved, either by FO dictate, or a different manager, the moves are futile. I agree with a lot of the theories, but first the groundwork has to be laid. As for Dozier, get what you can while you can. They should have this winter. Now you are faced with trading a guy with serious flaws. Even Bert turned on him last night. That's even worse than when Sid does, it's the kiss of death!
  10. Sale is a flash in the pan. Wait till we start piling losses on him just like last year.......... You do remember last year don't you? That year this decade we were contenders! Well kinda,
  11. I have been through Stephen, Donaldson, and Kennedy. Total population 63. . She's right about one thing, that's was really some bad luck! Reminds me of them horror stories where the innocent young girl stops in a small town, and her life is never to be normal again!
  12. Park HR #1 87 mph inside and up. #2 85 mph inside and up. It's senseless to throw him soft stuff in. I noticed that Chicago worked him down, hard and in.
  13. Why do their home runs count for twice as much as ours?
  14. mAirplane, Naked Gun, Slapshot. Greatest movies of all time!
  15. Or until the Swedish police arrive? The most likely outcome!
  16. To steal, and embellish a point Brian made: LOOK for reasons to promote, trade, and balance the roster, instead of LOOKING for reasons to hang unto mediocre vets. That single change in philosophy would be a move in the right direction.
  17. They told him he was to report to Mpls. He said why should I take a demotion? I quit!
  18. I beg to differ. But I will play along. So let's say Sano and Buxton do that? What of the SP, the BP, the catching, the mediocre defense? Sano and Buxton? Miggy and Trout could not have this team playing .500 ball.
  19. I don't think it should be a flood either. Since this collapse was quicker and more extensive than even some of us more pessimistic types thought, it's going to take some patience. (I know, I am tired of that word also). But you still need to be smart as well as proactive. That said, the FO spent 5 years telling us that the farm system was flush. It's time to find out. Nothing short of a complete tear down and overhaul will resurrect this team. It's either that, or a ceiling of endless .500 ball. That might sound inviting to some, but not me.
  20. Why exactly does it take this long, and the mysterious "Deep Throat" reporting to find out an AAA pitcher has a boo boo? Does the FO think this will affect the playoff pursuit? His trade value? Their handling of the matter? This isn't really about Meyer, it's about the odd goings on in club management and the media lackeys which follow same! I think the last revelatory column I have read from a Twins beat writer, is where to eat in Ft. Meyers during ST.
  21. I haven't seen either play, but I hope the decision is based on defense just once. Every other decision has been based on offense, or should I say a perception of offense!
  22. It's way past 72 hours. According to Kojak, we can now file a missing persons report!
  23. It's a craft beer, made by fine upstanding genuine Germans! .
  24. TIVO catch up! Dick says in some ways Arcia and Rosario are the same player? I need to mull this.....
