  1. That seems to be an awful lot of maligning for one post.
  2. Ok, recent Twins history demands that Hughes gives that run back immediately! Santana is ruling my theory as I type.
  3. I have not heard that analogy before. Most otters play the oboe.
  4. I was hoping Santana got on again, I poured a new driveway during the last at bat, and I need to float it once more.
  5. Pedro could have kept playing for me, he could really pick em
  6. I realize Polanco's seems to have too many errors, and there have always been questions about arm strength, but that is the type of athletiscm I would like to see in the Twins regular shortstop. There's something to be said for making the common plays regularly, but there's also a lot to be said for stealing hits like that one.
  7. Baseball is really a funny game, both pitchers are getting there brains beat in, and its scoreless. Whoops I spoke too soon, Plouffe and Dozier are not into brain beating! )
  8. That year had a heart breaking ending. Maybe the worst in team history.
  9. I think it was Kubel who hit a HR, otherwise Rivera would have been at 100% against our lads! (Or so it seemed)
  10. Good article. As was Gleemans. But the buck doesn't stop with Ryan. There is nothing to suggest that public opinion will cause the Pohlads get off the dime. Their accountants will likely make the call based on the P&L. I know that sound very sarcastic, but it's not meant to be. Nothing has been presented by the teams ownership to show there is anything else that influences a decision. A season or two of empty seats will cause Ryan to resign (he will never be publicly fired), nothing else will.
  11. The bottom line is you could do what Seth suggests, and have a chance to succeed long term. Or you could do what others suggest, dump a whole bunch of vets now, bring in all the young troops, and suffer through it, and likely succeed down the road. Or you could do what everyone in their hearts knows they really will do. Hang onto the Doziers, Plouffes, Hughes, maybe even Suzuki, etc, all year, and likely next year, and end up muddling around in the middle. Probably go on a faux win streak, and declare yourself in good shape for 2017! Ugh!
  12. Please don't tell me David Murphy changed his mind?
  13. Or maybe the pressure comes from seeing the traveling secretary sitting in the dugout with travel vouchers to Rochester in hand!
  14. Was I satisfied with Berrios, not really. Would I have sent him down. NO! What for? Dominating AAA ball will not help you get comfortable in MLB. We just keep doing this over and over. The good news is some of us have called for the FO to give up on this year, and experiment with younger talent. This move makes it obvious that they have at least gotten as far as the first part of that wish!
  15. Sadly I very much agree. More sadly, if something doesn't, I fear that we will be stuck in this time warp for a long time. We will develop into a not good, but not bad team. It makes me sad!
  16. This from the bottom of a column on the Gopher Basketball program that Reusse had online this morning. PLUS THREE FROM PATRICK Predictions on what will befall the Twins at end of an already-horrific 2016: *Terry Ryan will announce in September that he is retiring after the season. *Twins ownership will throw numerous millions at Jed Hoyer to leave Theo Epstein’s shadow with the Cubs. *Hoyer will blow up the baseball operation, including the on-field staff. Next manager: Torey Lovullo. I don't know if something of this magnitude will happen or not, or even if it would actually work out. Not all moves do. But it brings to mind the old story about the raccoon hunter who climbed a tree the dogs were circling during a night hunt. His buddy stayed on the ground, while he went up to attempt to chase the the raccoon out of the tree. Unfortunately it was not a raccoon, but a tomcat. In the ensuing fur flying skin scratching struggle he yelled to his friend, "Shoot, shoot, for gods sake shoot!" When the friend yelled back that he couldn't because he did not know if he would hit the tomcat, or him, the cat fighter yelled back, "for the love of God, just shoot, at this point I don't care which one of us you hit!" And that old Cajun tale sums up the state of our MN Twins this year.
  17. I have a Harley, they are not fast, and my wife would seriously debate the "fine husband" comment.
  18. Luckily I have Slap Shot on TIVO. I love hockey. Completely agree. While this was bad, so are seasons long mediocre performances. You can either lose with no chance of improving, or you can lose with a chance of getting better. I don't know if May, Meyer, Berrios, Duffey, Burde, Chargois et could lead us to some playoff runs, but I can almost guarantee that Hufhes, Nolasco, Jepsen, etc won't.
  19. Luckily I have Slap Shot on TIVO. I love hockey.
  20. This is getting a little silly, next your gonna tell us you are Eve!
  21. Cain made numerous mistakes! Not enrolling in the farm program was the first. No matter how much wheat he grew, or Abel stole all he had to do was stand next to his mailbox and wait for his check. It's a fool proof system. The second mistake was not whacking Abel in Manitiwoc Co. Had he done that Stepen Avery would have been blamed, and the Old Testament would have been changed forevermore!
  22. Tonkin spent several "opportunities" with the Twins looking over his shoulder. I am sure in his mind, it was either spotless performances, or the next flight to Rochester. That's a tough way to play. Probably far more pressure than pitching with the bases loaded, up one in the ninth for a regular. Young players with visible talent need to feel they will get a legitimate amount of time to show where abilities, not a one, done, and the TSA line!
  23. I have had this nagging thought on Dozier for the last month. While guys like Arcia and Rosario take some pretty silly at bats, they appear to be caused by impatience and poor zone recognition. Doziers problems seem caused by either stubbornness or selfishness. Continually trying to hit everything into the second row of the LF corner. For someone who is one of the faces of the team, and thought by some as a team leader, that approach makes for a poor example. I would get what I could for him and move on.
  24. I noticed TC, like all wild animals focused on the slow to adapt to their environment, and the overly patient. Fortunately for the weak, TC had already had his fill. (As have many Twins fans) . Sadly the third baseman remembered the old Chief joke about not having to outrun the bear, only the catcher. If you wonder, why sadly, you have never seen our third baseman run!
  25. It has been a constant that math should never be done on TD, are we now going to have to add poetry? . Actually I thought it was very good, and a nice change of pace. Not one reference to the FO, the RF, or the BP. .
