  1. I saw that, I think it was MO, but not sure. The story I read was about 4 locals drove down to talk to him. If I rem M er right he lived alone at that age.
  2. So you were the guy in the closet?
  3. Speaking of Sleepy Eye, during last nights rain delay they did a bit about the time Babe Ruth barnstormed there.
  4. I got that way with pot too, parts of the day, week, month..... Slipped away. But as all can see I have recovered nicely.
  5. My dad always said, "Whoopee John Wilhfart, and the boys will play"
  6. I actually used the Six Fat because of the cool name, the best was the Jolly Brothers in my early drinking days. And theirs! It wasn't The Doors or anything, but it was fun.
  7. I been to Gibbon, but Daisy Dillman I have never heard of?
  8. Yea, they have more power than a TSA agent, and almost as much common sense!
  9. I really can't remember each and every one of those guys, I likely caught most of the games on radio in those days. Regardless, this team is almost unwatchable. In fact if not for the morbid interest in how they are going to f^*k up each night, it would be unwatchable. It's almost impossible to be this bad. That said, when you take a PTC staff, put mediocre to worse defense behind it, and try and out score the other team with a lineup without a lead off hitter, 3 or 4 hitter, and minimal speed, you are going to get close.
  10. Does Harold Loffelmacher and the Six Fat Dutchman at the Orxhid Inn in Sleepy Eye count, or are we shooting for something bigger here?
  11. Big Jake was a personal favorite.
  12. Or at the rate he is going, Park will get to that 57 yet? This better be a slump, cause if they have figur d him out, hes got a lot of adjusting to do.
  13. There are Legion team with better starting pitchers than the Twins are currently tossing out there. As for his Engle comment, I think his point was not talent related, it was attitude and effort related. Sano has one, but not the other, I guess the comparison would rely on your opinion of which is which.
  14. Oh no, Not Jep! Who's gonna close?
  15. Reusse compared position for position. It didn't turn out well. Hes was optimistic at the start of the season, a mistake he has since acknowledged. I enjoy his observations on baseball, he grew up with the game, and agree with him or not, he has been a fan and observer of everything from town ball to MLB for a long time. http://www.startribune.com/twins-of-1981-were-unwatchable-but-better-than-these-yahoos/380692181/
  16. Apparently you can spend 2 1/2 years pulling everything, and play everyday, but when a reporter says TR says you need fixin, and don't agree, that's not a good idea!
  17. I used to say that if Plouffe is your cleanup hitter, nothing else needs to be said. Seeing Robbie in the 5 hole is making me rethink that long held supposition!
  18. Have I got a deal for you. You call Terry, tell him you know a guy they should look at. That would be me. Soft tossing, PTC, veteran, actually very veteran. I sign the big contract. We meet in the Subway in Rochester, and I go halfsies with you. (Minus travel expenses, and the $5 foot long of course)
  19. After 2014 I was dumbfounded that he saw anything inside, ever, at all. And the first half of the year they still drifted in there. And to his credit he hit the mistakes frequently. Now he is having to cheat so far outside, the occasional inside pitch cannot be handled. By the middle of 2014 it was obvious to some outside observers that the hole in his zone was the better part of the strike zone. But that's only half the equation. Inside guys should have known by then his personality, temperament, and preferences. Combine those two observations, and an adroit FO would have put him on the block early last year. Now it's too late. The tipping point for me was his willingness to go to the HR derby in 2104. That may seem insignificant, but it identified his mentality. And still does
  20. So unless Burnett pulls a Murphy and retires, he will be in Mpls around 6/13?
  21. Abad will likely end up like Suzuki, Perkins, Willingham, even Nunez. And there are times and teams where the "you can't trade all your good players away" guys are correct. But this isn't one of them.
  22. Minor leaguers read box scores. Polanco must be ecstatic that he sat on his butt all this time, and the minute EE came back Dozier took a seat. It also tells, confirms what is apparent. Molitor just does not like to play the young guys. He has no choice with Sano, and I doubt anyone thinks of Park as "young". But over and over his handling of younger players shows he really has to go. He isn't the reason they are 11-33, but he will be a big factor in keeping them there!
