  1. I don't know if this will play or not but here's the link to The Chucker getting the two Reeves boys mixed up! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7XU8zLN4c94
  2. I had intended to comment on what appear to be deep and familial issues lurking in the psyche of 33 and her sibling! But then I read the Christopher Reeve/Superman/Horse comments, and it became clear that those matters, troubling as they may be,were in effect minor in comparison!
  3. The Twins seem to have an extremely hard time moving a veteran. I know that's not news to anyone, but is it caused by the same originisational philosophy that is prevelant in the management ranks. Bill Smith, and Gardy are the two most visible. Fired, and handed make up jobs. Constantly resigning ex players. Maybe other teams do it, I cannot say. But it seems very common here. i am board with waiting through the trading deadline to make the most productive moves possible, and agree that who we can trade for a return is likely out of Ryans control, the market will set that. But I fear we will find Nunez extended, hey we can't trade our only AS, and Dozier still pulling foul balls against the limestone. Plouffe? A toss up, but I do think Arcia will be gone. For one thing we don't platoon, and won't. And he doesn't really fit the stereotype of a Twins player. Plus it is going to be like pulling teeth to get Robbie off the field. He is the OF version of Kurt Suzuki, and if you cannot recognize the limitations Suzuki brings to the game, you won't see them in LF either.
  4. If you dont get it, you haven't been following the Twins operation philosophy over the last twenty years. But I know you have, and I know you get it. So it was likely a rhetorical question.
  5. All I know about him is there are consistent reports of great glove, bad bat. And the hitting stats seem to support that. The reports all say could be one of the best gloves in the game, not just the Twins. What's the WAR on an elite fielding, light hitting SS? It's too early for EV, but if your "plan is to build your team around "slugging" corner fielders, and PTC pitchers, you should and should be able to carry a "glove" at SS.
  6. I think GT participants are far more comfortable when the College of Musical Knowledge is restricted to: Whoopee John Wilfhart, and the Boys will play!
  7. That was enough info to make the Office of Management and Budget go into a catatonic state. And if Molitor knew all those numbers during that 30 seconds it took him to bench Rosario, I apologize in advance. Plouffe was a dead duck, the inability of the catcher, did not make it a good move. Nor did the minsicule improvement in scoring chance. He's Trevor Plouffe, the human statue. He should have been out. Rosario caught them napping, and unless Verlander ran the Olympic 400 meters, was not going to get caught. This boils down to two non statistical issues. Rosario's previous misadventures in the OF, his offensive struggles, and his lack of tenure. On the other side of the coin was the veteran Plouffes teflon status as an irreplaceable cog in the machine. Please understand I am not disagreeing with the accuracy of your stats, simply that they had anything whatsoever to do with Rosario ending up in Rochester. I want to add one last point. The move to extreme shifts is going to result in more of these odd chances, which go against the grain of the book. I completely agree with never making the last out at third, but if no one is playing third, that certainly changes the odds of getting caught.
  8. This isn't going to please the "public execution" crowd, but it's a nice summation of a plan forward. I hope some of the major moves regarding players occur. I would be amazed if any of the FO moves happen.
  9. I know I have said this before, and will again. You have two choices of BD. The one you see now who will hit an occasional inside mistake for a down the line double or a 341' HR. Or, the Dozier who could possibly hit in the high 260's with some gap doubles and be a decent baserunner. And while I personally think he is defensively overrated, he is still adequate there. But you will never have the power to RF, it's not there, and I am not sure you will ever see him reinvent himself here. He might somewhere else after a trade, when the handwriting on the wall, is clearer, and the bench becomes more of a real possibility. It certainly will not be here.
  10. I looked at the Kaplan link. It completely boggles my mind to think the Twins would go from the Ryan era to a new GM/Kaplan era. I don't see anyway this could be integrated, it would have to be a total blowout. The resistance from an organization engrained in philosophies that accept bunting in the second inning, bringing in the infield in the third, not understanding the value of a strikeout on either side of the game, and still thinking you can find that one magic bean i.e. Johan Santana, every year would make simply a change at the top unworkable. This also would be a massive investment, both financially structurally for the Pohlads. I don't think that is in their DNA. You mentioned Ryans dealing with the personal side of the game, which in a manner, is one of his faults. Not moving veterans, not selling a FA acquisition high when the season collapses, etc. Thats the most frustrating part of the analytics discussion for me. It doesn't take analytics to know that Hughes, Nolasco. Dozier, Plouffe, Grossmann, Suzuki, Centeno, etc, etc, etc are who they are. Many if not all have established histories. Wishing and hoping that because they are now MN Twins, they will turn into a carriage and stay that way are what gets us to where we are. Don't get me wrong, I am not against analytics, but I don't need them to tell me that you cannot take low SO, fly ball pitchers, and team them with a crappy defensive OF. There really cannot be just a new GM and or analytics dept here, it needs to be blown up.
  11. Bottom line, never wait for them to call you. In this case the squeaky wheel theory pays off. I had a 83 Carina, great mechanical car, some kid whacked it in front of my house. They wanted it totaled, I wanted it back. Eventually he said, "ok, if we fix it, will you promise never ever to call me again"? I said can I call you back? Lol. But they fixed it.
  12. The cynic in me says yes, but I have Progressive, and the little trouble I have had they have been right there.
  13. Aaaargh! The fearsome Red River Pirate! And his one legged Parrot Chief!
  14. Moot point! Let Dick sell it on Car Soup! If he can try and convince us that the Twins are a MLB team, he can get you a good price on that slightly used quality automobile.
  15. Dick just said Sano was nowhere to be found? How do you lose a 280 lb guy? Did they check OCB?
  16. Earlier in the game Dick said the most important thing the Twins could do is win a month at a time? Now he said "I don't know where the team would be without Nunez"?
  17. Sadly it wasn't low voltage, it was what we called a weed burner. As for "smarter than my brother", that might be a thread unto itself!
  18. I was raised on a farm with electric fences, I can verify this. One of my brothers, in an alcoholic stupor peed on a electric fence one night to see what would happen. Suffice it to say that was the only time he ever did it!
  19. Hughes is way to large to insult that way! Pit Mull?
  20. Hughes is way to large to insult that way!
  21. I felt I wanted to say something, and then I thought of all the threads, and all the blogs, and all the articles, and all I had said, and all everyone else had said, and it occurred to me that I couldn't think of anything else to say! So I'm just not going to say anything at all!
  22. If next years manager is NOT working with Kepler, and the likes of Kepler, in 2017, then this franchise is headed for years of the same!
