    11 days until the trade deadline, some team is one little hot-streak from being in contention or one starting pitcher injury away from falling out of contention - there is and will be a market for him. I believe the team would have to be absolutely blown away by the offer to move him, and would also had to have fallen out of contention.

    He doesn't actually say they should trade him, he just points out that he is an obvious target for other teams. He is in the prime of his career, he has a team-friendly salary, and his actual and predictive stats are good. Also, only he, Ober and P. Lopez are guarantees for next season's rotation. Two open spots will be hard enough to fill. Let's lighten up in here a bit guys!!

    I did not say this lost the game. Jeffers was down 0-2 in the count and should have tried to foul it off. I just said that it was not called a strike all game.

    Buxton's last 30 games : 14-102 w/42 K's. Slash line of .137/.202/.314. Buxton's last 7 games : 1-29 w/15 K's. Slash line of .034/.065/.034, including 0 for his last 22.

    Baseball Savant showed it was off the plate, outside. First outside pitch called a strike all night, and with Jeffers being the catcher all night, he knew this. Bad call.

    He'd be stuck at AAA. Also take at look at Julien's numbers, they're a little better, albeit in a smaller sample.

    According to the FS1 broadcast, Buxton is dealing with hip and lower back injuries, no mention of knee issues.

    Their talent is known and the manager knows what he's going to get everyday...

    According to RpR he hasn't earned the right to play because he is an unknown rookie and the manager already knows what he will do any given game.

    Neither does sitting on the bench or toiling in the minors night after night. Every rookie unknown that became a good ball player was given the chance do show it.

    The definition of insanity is doing the same thing time after time (running Kepler and Gallo out there every night) and expecting different results. Hopes and wishes don't win MLB games.

    So you are saying Wallner is being given an opportunity right now? His talent is as good as Gallo, Kepler or Buxton right now. Larnach's talent is at least as good as 3 of the 4 right now. So I call BS on this comment.

    If the front office doesn't promote you or if manager doesn't play you once they do, there is no opportunity.

    Buxton has full no trade protection. If Gallo and/or Kepler can be traded for ANYTHING of value, Wallner and Julien have playing spots. Julien, Farmer and Polanco rotate through 2B/3B. Wallner and Julien can rotate through LF/RF depending on who's traded and all 4 can DH occasionally even if Buxton is not IL'd.

    I think the team can get at least the same production from Larnach and Wallner they are getting from Kepler and Gallo, though the defense may suffer a little. The time is now to see if they can make the adjustments to stay with the big club, not after Gallo (this year) and Kepler (next season) are gone, that just delays finding replacements if they can't adjust. Time for the FO to admit their mistake and move on.

    The second half of the season is time for Buxton to get back in CF. The team can get the same offensive production by rotating other players through the DH spot, but the defense improves by having MAT as the backup CF instead of Castro. Yes Buxton is league average at DH (101 OPS+), but MAT is not league average in CF (82 OPS+). Kirilloff, Julien, Gallo, Jeffers, Solano and (SSS) Wallner are above average OPS+. Lewis, Correa, and Polanco could all have a "day off" at DH. As could Miranda, and a "day off" from the glove could help his offense. If Buxton gets hurt, MAT goes back to CF and the others can continue the DH rotation.

    So here we have another "plug and play" article on TD. It's like the writers here have a template set up where all they have to do is copy and paste a name into the blanks: Twins make bad decision by keeping _________ and trading _________. They then proceed to tell us the traded player is doing this and that with his new team while telling us that the player the team kept is unworthy of MLB playing time. Well, hindsight is almost always 20/20 and not every move works out. If player A is succeeding and player B is not, guess who gets traded. If the roles reverse the following season, then so be it, the call was made at the time. Having said that, this team has been unbelievably snake bitten with injuries and poor performance from the trade acquisitions and the players they decided to "bet" on. I think a little soul searching needs to be done over the next few days by players and front office alike.
