  1. Doesn't look like its gonna happen . This team has no fire in its belly. Somebody (Donaldson or Cruz) should have held a players meeting by now. Errors, bad baserunning, not moving runners over, terrible relief pitching and a manager with seemingly no clue....
  2. Remember 2006? Started 12-18 and Morneau basically put the team on his shoulders and they went 84-48 the rest of the way. One can dream I guess.
  3. Gallo turned on a 95 mph fastball that was "on his hip" inside. It was a good pitch, one that not many hitters hit fair, much less HR off of.
  4. Eliminate Badoo's first 4 games and his line is .155/.194/.397 for an OPS of .590. He may be given back to the Twins by June at this rate.
  5. This may be different by the end of the season, but I think the current offense could use Eddie. His defense is even above average by sabermetrics. Twins LF - .185/.224/.241 0 HR 5 RBI Rosario - .245/.304/.434 2 HR 8 RBI
  6. But to be fair, the players have to execute (read: move the runner over)
  7. Don't know if I the new extra inning rule or the fact that Baldelli doesn't know how to manage for it....
  8. 2-8 (.250 avg.), 7 BB (9-15, .600 obp) 5 runs scored and 3 RBI. I can see where you thought the bottom of the order wasn't producing.
  9. Kirilloff's clock has not started yet......
  10. Not a fan of keeping Astudillo or Garlick, however, if they outperformed the competition, they earned their spots. That being said, keeping Astudillo allows both Garver and Jeffers to play without fear of losing the backup C, I would use one of them to spell Sano at 1B as both Arraez and Astudillo are too short, in my opinion, to play there, or to give Cruz a day off. If Kirilloff and Rooker show they are ready, both Astudillo and Garlick can be sent down or DFA'd, as both play the OF and can spell 1B and DH and let's face it, a third C is truly a luxury, not a necessity.
  11. I had really hoped the Twins had signed him, turns out to be a good non-signing. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/03/tyler-clippard-shut-down-six-weeks-with-capsule-sprain.html
  12. He is going to have to prove he can stay healthy and that he can play defense somewhere. Singles hitting DH's don't play and don't get paid in today's game.
  13. Could really like watching that swing @ Target Field....
  14. Lynn's ERA for the season was 4.77, it was 5.10 with the Twins, good times.....
  15. The Twins big HR guys hit most of theirs to the pull field...dead ball will probably affect more doubles than homers....
  16. I would be open to Ozuna, but in a couple of years the teams DH spot becomes cloudy as presumably him, Sano and Donaldson would all be better as a DH than as fielders.
  17. '87 was a great a series as was '91, which is when Hrbek lifted Gant of off 1B
  18. I thought that this forum wasn't for political views......
  19. If rosters will be set at 26 then signing Cruz makes sense with the players you have listed here. There is no flexibility, no super utility guy. Need to sign somebody like Kiki or Marwin, unless a big trade is made for a SS then Polanco or Arraez becomes utility guy. I would go Wade or Rooker over Cave because both can also play 1B, especially if signing Cruz becomes a priority. I suppose Kirilloff could start in LF and fill in at 1B, but then the 4th OF gets more playing time. Clippard and Bradley would look really good to fill out the BP. Or are Thorpe and Smeltzer going to relied on? The rotation is a little tougher because nobody knows how Dobnak rebounds, or if he is a starter or reliever. Try to sign Odorizzi and bring some reclamation projects into ST and hope something works out. I've said it before, I am glad this is not my job and I a have a lot of faith in Falvey, Levine and the coaching staff.
  20. San Diego's projected payroll for 2021 sits at $153.5 M, let's all go to the Google Payroll that was on here and build to that number. Bet a pretty good team is theoretically built, just gotta them to actually sign here.
  21. I could get behind a Semien signing if Rowson was still here, otherwise Didi or Simmons if going FA. Would prefer even one year of Story over any of those three. Otherwise make a run for Kiki and keep the status quo. Bradley and Clippard to fill out the BP, maybe one more if Cruz decides to sign elsewhere. If no Cruz, Brantley would look good at DH and can spot start in the OF. If Odorizzi suddenly gets too expensive, I think Kluber, Bailey and Hill could make 25-30 starts between them and cost about the same without the long term commitment. I have faith in the braintrust, they've done alright so far.
  22. Imagine if you will, a season so turned that Nick Punto may be the teams MVP despite being 10% below league average AND his teammate won the league MVP....
  23. Maybe Lynn will come here with a better attitude this time, but his time here sucked. He signed late (for a ton of $$$), came in out of shape and stunk the place up. I liked him and thought it was a good signing, but his time here was not good.
  24. Not a fan of Semien, his 2019 season is an outlier to the rest of his career, and there were questions concerning "juiced" baseballs that season, so a hard "NO" from me. Paxton or Odorizzi, not both. I would actually like Bailey and Hill in those two spots. I am OK with re-signing Cruz and Clippard, both have value and a proven track record. I also think Soria would be a good signing as long as there is no bidding war, set a price and stick with it. I don't think payroll is going to go up or they would not have DFA'd Rosario. I think they would have signed him and looked for a trade partner at the deadline.
