    Gordon is out of options, but I would not consider it a loss if he is claimed if the team tries to get him through waivers. There are potentially better options, and baseball is a business, but sometimes the shiny new choice works out, sometimes not.

    I think we would have seen him last season if not for the injury, he seemed to find his game in the AFL much like Lewis after his disastrous 2019 MiLB season. He wasn't Julien good, but he outplayed the Reds' Matt McClain, who finished 5th in ROY voting after this season. If Gordon and/or Larnach (maybe Farmer??) are moved this off-season, we may have our answer as to what the team thinks of him.

    This is pretty much word for word what the talking-head, ex-GM's on MLB Network were saying while I was navigating the horrible roads headed north tonight.

    My eye test told me he slipped a little last season. In the few games I was able to watch last season, Kepler misplayed several balls into basehits or extra bases, most of these were pre-All-Star game and several posters commented on here that he looked dis-interested and that his head/heart wasn't in the game.

    As I have said, I am not a Hoskins fan. That being said, the national media outlets figure he gets a 1 yr/$14 MM deal. That is affordable, above that not so much.

    Miranda has options, he can start the season at AAA. O'Neill is said to be available in a trade, which is enticing, but comes with injury concerns. Not a big fan of Hoskins, and if the price tag gets to $15 MM I hope the team passes. He is coming off of knee surgery and is not a good defender anywhere on the field. If the team can get him on a Gallo type 1yr/$11-12 MM, I would say yes, otherwise pass. Whether we like it or not, many moves this off-season revolve around the teams expected availability of Buxton, including a possible signing of Hoskins.

    The Reds, like the Twins, are said to be looking for pitching this off-season. And like the Twins, they have a surplus of infielders to trade from. They are said to be making Jonathan India available, which may force the Twins to include Julien in a deal - MLB talent, not prospect. Also, after the Soto deal, the Yankees will be looking for pitching. They generally go the FA route, but if they get involved in looking for trades, this may force the Twins to include Julien or one of the higher rated prospects. We will have to trust the FO in whatever deals they make or don't make, though many on here will question why a deal was made or not made.

    If Hoskins is being talked about by those closest to the team, I would put stock in it. I would also venture to guess that other moves are being discussed concerning any of Kirilloff, Miranda, Kepler, Julien and Wallner.

    Listening to MLB Network recently, it sounds like Verdugo fell out of favor in Boston, for whatever reason, and was going to be dealt no matter what this off-season. Production-wise they may be a match, but I don't think the Twins take a deal like this for Kepler.

    Untouchable seems to be relative to individual TD members feelings about the most recent results of the players being judged. After a horrible 2019 at A+ and AA some on here felt Lewis should be traded, but Kirilloff, Larnach and Balazovic were untouchable. Up until a bump in the road at AAA last season, many on here felt Lee was untouchable, but now think he should be traded. There are more examples including Arraez, Buxton, Sano, Graterol, Duran, Rosario, Kepler, Polanco, Ryan, Berrios and others that have been on both sides of the untouchable/trade them now discussion. If the right trade offer comes along, the front office takes it, no matter who we think is untouchable.

    Considering there were only 59 pitchers who pitched more than 150 innings last season, and the Twins had 3 of those, and 2 of the 25 who pitched 180+ innings, this is a big ask.

    I never said that, but yes he was.... '21 A, A+, '22 AA, '23 AAA, He also made it to MLB in '23, but all or parts of 3 seasons in the minors. This will be Lee's third minor league season and he will also be starting it in AAA. If he not called up early, it will be because no one got injured, but I imagine by summer he is pushing hard for a roster spot. Lee is also 2 years younger and most likely will have played fewer games in the minors.

    Can't use the lost season argument on here, I have tried and been told by the resident experts on here that player development was not hindered because all college and MiLB players were equally affected.

    I was just going to point this out. Add in the fact that Lee's defense is already MLB ready, though he did have a few yips when first promoted to AAA, and I don't think Lee is the type of player you trade; he's the type of player you build around.

    Maybe, maybe not. Kepler comes off the books after this season, as well as Farmer (if neither are traded beforehand), Polanco, Vazquez, Paddack, Castro, Alcala and the dead weight of Dobnak's contract the season after. This opens up approximately $50 MM, $22 MM of which will go to Lopez. They will be replaced by league minimum and arbitration eligible players who are among the teams best prospects.

    Actually, the Twins could make rarely used C work for this season, if Buxton can play the OF this year. If not, they keep him as long as they can and let him go back if they decide he's not a fit.

    I've watched a lot of video of Brooks Lee, and he is closer to MLB defensively than he is offensively. He may not stay at SS due to his size and projected growth, but his defensive game is MLB ready.

    I don't think his new home park is going to be very friendly to him, but congrats to him on being able to cash in after last season.

    Jeffers was 2-19 (.105) in the play-offs this year, 2-24 (.083) for his over 8 play-off games in his career. Vazquez is 23-92 (.250) over 31 play-off games in his career. Sometimes experience counts for something, but we won't know because Vazquez didn't even sniff an AB in this years play-offs.

    How low have our standards fallen that we are now content to expect 100 innings out of a starter and that $13 MM is a reasonable amount for that production?

    Awful lot of money per year for 100 innings, Paddack should be able to replace those anyway for roughly $10 MM over the same period. If you think he would give this team 200 innings per year, he never has. Only twice has he thrown more than 150.

    Let him find his game elsewhere, the Twins already have enough (too many?) middle infield options.
