    The reason I was late to the game thread is I had a doctor appointment this afternoon. Nothing serious, just a check up. I was a bit concerned though, when after reviewing my height and weight, he told me he was concerned about my height. "My height?" I said. "Hmmm, that's the first time a doctor has mentioned that. What about my height concerns you? "Well," he said, according to this here chart, at your weight you should be just over 7 feet tall."

    "Top 9 hitters in the org" isn't the proper comparison. The proper comparison is "top hitters who only play 1st base/DH." And against LH pitching, I don't believe Mauer is at the top of that group.

    I think the plan should be for Mauer to be on the bench more.

    If he's subbing for Kepler or Rosario against LH pitching, he's not DHing. If he's DHing, both Rosario and Kepler (and Mauer) are in the lineup against LHers. Or Santana, I guess, which doesn't thrill me. I don't see how that helps much. If they want to give him a try as the fourth OFer, I'm fine with that, even if I think he'll eventually fail. But he doesn't help at DH, They need a RH DH/1b...
