  1. On a positive note, Hildenberger looked a little better than he has, IMO. I'm nervous about him, but that was encouraging.
  2. Carrot Top is not only alive and well, he's currently doing six shows a week (dark Tuesdays) at the Luxor in Vegas, with tickets starting at $49.95. I fear for our country.
  3. I respectfully disagree. It’s an airplane hanger, not a baseball stadium IMO. A nice hanger, to be sure, but a hanger.
  4. In the specific case of TF, they didn’t have the extra land necessary for a retractable roof.
  5. Bleleven...25 complete games in 73. Times have changed.
  6. CONCUR! But doesn’t the Pohlad family still own a Pepsi distributorship?
  7. It’s possible an infield DL stint would bring Gordon up rather than resulting in regular duty for Adrianza.
  8. Pitchers are still going to throw curves and changeups, too. Hitters won't get any flack for hitting a line drive.
  9. In your opinion. I, on the other hand, agree with Dozier. I like the "unwritten rules," they keep the game closer to what I want to see, and prevent much more conflict than they cause. And the bunt was...questionable, IMO.
  10. 1 fair point 2 players on both sides know, I wager 3. No, it's not possible, unless you can show me teams routinely don't hold a runner with 2 outs. Teams will occasionally not hold a runner who isn't capable of stealing a base, or when the game is out of hand and both teams have called off the dogs. 4. It's not a big deal in that there will be no retaliation, or anything like that. But these teams have to play 162 game schedules, they are incredibly competitive people, and people's careers are on the line. The idea that there aren't unwritten guidelines on how to conduct oneself over the course of 6 months of daily competition, so as to get everyone through the season as safely as possible, isn't realistic.
  11. 1. the amount of comments about the bunt on Twins Daily exceed the amount of comments by the players by a factor approaching 1000-1. 2. the players involved understand why the bunt would raise eyebrows, but do nothing else. 3. Gladden didn't actually defend the comments, but noted the Orioles, earlier in the 9th, did not hold a runner on first, indicating they believed the game to be over, and the Twins did not take the free base, indicating they accepted the same situation 4. my guess is the veteran leadership on the Orioles let the rookie know it's not a big deal, but we don't play like that in the big leagues.
  12. He's also famous for claiming a 300 game anytime he rolled 12 consecutive strikes...regardless if they were all in the same game.
  13. These are so incredibly well done Matt! Thank you.
  14. It also fell into the third category of the old “ you will win X games, lose X games, and the remaining X decide the season” saw. It was a winnable game, which means decisions and individual plays mattered and are subject to debate. It also means we’re 0-1 in that critical third category.
  15. More 4 seamers, fewer 2 seamers. That was last seasons key development. Better command, more swing and miss, less contact, fewer 2-0, 3-1 counts. I don’t know if it will continue, but I’m hopeful.
  16. In game 1, with an off day following and an off day prior? Your point is well taken, but not in yesterday's game.
  17. Reverse spilts in 31 PAs for the year vs RH hitters last year. He’s had normal platoon splits every other year since 2012, and for his career RH hitters hit him more than 100 pts of OPS higher than LH hitters. Once there 2 on and one out, you just can’t let him pitch to consecutive RH hitters in a tie game. That’s just silly, when your entire pen is available and you have an off day tomorrow to boot. That’s a far piece worse than Castro not blocking a pitch in the dirt.
