    Leaving aside the "why.?"...How do you propose giving any of these any time in Minnesota? 13 man roster, team is trying to win the ALC.

    Well hopefully if Falvine does trade Gray they get a haul like for Berrios. We need to make sure St Paul's 2025 rotation has a fifth starter sporting a 6+ ERA and a no power, no position hitter with a sub .200 BA. The point: trading talent for prospects sometimes works, but gets you little or nothing far more often than it gets you something. Nobody seems to want to acknowledge that.

    True, and meaningless. They're not in the ALE. So they have a very solid chance of making the post season. Not to mention meaningful games for the rest of the regular season, which is, to me at least, extremely valuable.

    It's certainly possible the Twins wouldn't have the opportunity to set a playoff rotation (maybe they have to fight to the finish to win the division), but given a choice I believe they'd give Gray game 1. Second half performance could change that, but as of today I think he'd be a lock.

    A team trading for him really wouldn't give much thought to 2024 and beyond. He's a free agent at the end of the year no matter what. And Wouldn't be able to offer a QO. Only the Twins can offer the QO. I don't think his comments make much difference. Not that I'm currently in favor of trading him. Unless the Twins fall a half dozen or more games behind Cleveland by the deadline, I hope they don't trade him.

    Pretty solid work from the pen this series. I'd call that the primary difference between the two teams this weekend. First sweep in Oakland since 1997. Nineteen. Ninety. Seven.

    My bet: Tampa Bay shocks the world and trades for Ohtani as a rental. They have the prospects to get it done, anyone can afford 2 months of salary, and a team good enough to get max value out of adding an impact player. Book it. Second choice: Texas

    Regarding Jax, Put me down on the "glad Rocco didn't risk multiple innings from one of his few good options" side of the ledger. Jax pitched Friday. So now he's pitching back to back, one risk factor. There's also a widely held opinion that multiple inning use puts a lot of extra strain on arms...that sitting for a half inning, then resuming pitching, is different than 1 inning use. Another risk factor. IMO Rocco handled that just fine. Just another reminder there's no such thing as a low leverage reliever. Everyone in the pen is going to pitch at least sometimes with the game close. You can't just use a couple guys every time a game is close. My quibbles with Rocco would be he left Lopez in too long, and I wouldn't have let Ortiz pitch to Rooker as the go-ahead run in the 8th. I'd have used Duran for 1 out there, and let the other Lopez have the 9th. And that's not second guessing, I said it real time in game thread. But it worked out, even though Rooker missed a 3 run shot by a couple feet. We're lucky he hit that to dead center.

    There are many things I don't agree with about this article, but I'll start with Kenta Maeda's 2020 being one of the greatest seasons for a Twins starter in history. C'mon. Seriously? More low hanging fruit: Bert Blyleven's 1971, 72, and 75. Any Dave Goltz season mid to late 70s. Kevin Tapani 1991. Jim Kaat doesn't make your list ANYWHERE?
