  1. It just amazes me MLB teams can't deal with the 1st and 3rd play. And GREAT JOB Gallo, delaying the K by 1 pitch to let it happen!
  2. Pretty disappointed in Kirilloff there. 3-1, gets beat by a fastball, then swings through ball four.
  3. Gallo gone on 3 pitches. I'm not at all gobsmacked.
  4. Dick: "It looks like, at least in the short term, they're here to stay." Heh
  5. The actual joke is them thinking anyone is buying this story. "Three days off is too long so we're fixing that by giving him another day." heh
  6. It appears Cole Sands. Again, gobsmacked. They cannot possibly make due with only 12 pitchers, can they??
  7. Kind of surprised? Color me gobsmacked. Pleasently.
  8. Sign me up for Raya for Hader. Easily. But San Diego will get better if they trade him
  9. Every winter I beg and plead for bullpen help. Every winter I read how relievers are "fungible," "not reliable," and "easy to acquire." And every summer, we all beg for pen help.
  10. Concur. I wanted to believe, but he's not shown much. His minors power is actually quite disappointing. SlG only .452 in the minors, .402 at AAA and sub .400 in the majors so far are huge red flags IYAM. The "lost a minor league season to covid" excuse is beyond lame. So did everyone his age, and players lose seasons to injury all the time. It was 3 years ago, it's close to a nonfactor. If you can still get value for him, do it.
  11. They're literally considering moving Jorge Polanco to third. Jorge Polanco. In favor of Julien. Hitting gets you in the lineup, always, everywhere.
  12. "Bottle necks" are mostly imaginary. Nobody that demonstrates the ability to hit gets blocked for long, if at all. In rare cases where it does happen, it's a good problem, not a bad one. Julien had 38 games and 178 PAs in his first AAA opportunity. He was never blocked and would have been up by now regardless Polanco's health. Wallner will continue to get opportunities in Minnesota unless he plays his way out of them.
  13. So in your 3 season look, Buxton has OPS's against LHers of .997, .917, .582 I think you meant to say he's been a problem in 2023, and wasn't available enough in '21 and '22.
  14. I take extreme exception to "excellent long-term players." Long-term, probable. Excellent? Extremely unlikely, as with 99.9% of prospects. The last time the Sox sold off they acquired quite a haul...and as noted above have mostly losing seasons and Luis Robert to show for it. The most likely outcome is neither have any real impact. If one or the other turn into average or better big leaguers, good for them, good for the Sox. But the most likely outcome of this trade in terms of impact on the Twins is that we won't see Giolito in the September White Sox series.
  15. "Two excellent long-term players"? Heh. Also, aren't we first taking care of business in the central THIS year?
  16. If only Cole Sands wasn't in the witness protection plan, maybe he could have been asked to pitch 3 innings or so. But it appears we're playing with 1 fewer pitcher than everyone else. Ryan clearly didn't have it. Couldn't locate, velocity noticeably down. Lots of traffic on the bases. Arguments to be made to take him out after 3. Also arguments to leave him in, to be sure, but "no relievers available" isn't really one of them.
  17. I think this is mostly about getting rid of Lopez. He's been a distraction off the mound, and in addition to some less than stellar pitching, a sometime embarrassment on the mound. He's someone Rocco will only use when he's forced into it. Better for all involved to move on.
  18. Nitpic, but Moran put 3 runners on, not two. He pitched to 3 hitters: BB, BB, RBI double. Pagan came in with no outs, a run in, and runners on 2nd and 3rd. He gave up an RBI ground out, then a 2 run HR. Then finished out the inning. He wasn't good, but only 1 runner, and 1 run, were his fault. Three of those 4 runs were on Moran, and properly charged to his pitching line. You simply cannot come into a game up 4 and walk the first 2 hitters. Inexcusable.
