Mick Abel to the IL Mick Abel looked the part of big-league starter through 20 innings pitched this season, before being sidelined with an injury. Matthew Trueblood wrote an excellent piece with tons of great info, leading to lots of good takes by the TD faithful...you should be adding yours! Luke Keaschall and Sophomore Slump Small sample size, of course, but Luke Keaschall looked the part of polished big league hitter last year--in between injuries at least. This year has been a struggle, to put it kindly. Cody Christie takes a look at the "sophomore slump." What do you think? History of MLB #3 Picks I'm not much of a prospect work, but I know many of you are. TD always does a fantastic job covering the MLB draft.     I'm all for playing Martin more, but please, let's not "play him all over the field," or "drop him in at 2nd base." Let's leave him alone to learn and play a position. One of the issues with Martin has been defense. He's been getting better in LF. Leave him there. Anybody can play anywhere is just a bad idea.

    Uh, no. For the record, wOBA does not "add in the situation of the game." Specifically, wOBA would give the same value to a bases clearing double and a leadoff double the next inning. The same exact value to a double no matter the "game situation." Here's a definition of wOBA. It's based on linear weights. Basically, a HR is worth more than a triple, which is worth more than a double, which is worth more than a single, which is worth more than a walk, etc etc. The basic idea is that not all OBP is created equal, and shouldn't be viewed as such. But it very definitely does not consider when the OBP occurred (1st inning, 9th inning etc), or the situation ( bases loaded, bases empty, 0 outs, 2 outs, etc). https://www.mlb.com/glossary/advanced-stats/weighted-on-base-average

    I dont think any RFer catches that ball. That entire inning is on Rogers and Topa. Twins have a bad bullpen. Film at 11! On the other hand, Wallner continues to completely suck at the plate. The two young lefties have big league stuff. But IMO neither are ready for the big leagues. Rojas especially can't consistently command anything.

    Now, that piss poor AB was Wallner's fault.

    This isn't on Wallner. That ball falls in front of every RFer. And with 2 outs, he wasnt going to throw out a runner off on contact. It's Rogers allowing 2 LH hitters to reach, and Topa being an awful part of an awful pen.
