  1. Not just defense, but poor fundamentals all around. The overall identity of Baldelli's teams. Fix it all. Be better at playing the game than other teams, rather than worse.. And BTW this is completely separate from talent. The Twins need talent upgrades sure. But they also need, as an organization, a return to valuing and emphasizing playing the game correctly. That concept has been scoffed at for the entirety of Baldelli's tenure, right from day 1.
  2. There should be no talk of hiring existing managers away from their current jobs. That's not happening.
  3. I don't disagree. But I'm still happy that one of the things that needs doing was done.
  4. It didn't require genius level insight, or inside information, to arrive at the obvious conclusion that Baldelli's job might (finally) be in jeopardy.
  5. I doubt anyone thinks he should have won a WS with this crew. He should have won more than he did. His teams routinely sucked at the parts of the game a manager has direct control over. Winning 82 with a team that should win 88 is as bad as winning 92 with a team that should win 98. We need a guy who wins more than he should. Not less.
  6. From the OP: but (Baldelli) was good at the vital functions of the job: communicating with players, the media, and his bosses in the front office. Balderdash. Hogwash. These are not the "vital functions" of a baseball manager. The vital functions of a baseball manager are -to ensure his team knows how to play the game, and does. -making decisions on playing time. -strategy And these are precisely the areas Baldelli sucked at. Long overdue canning. It's one critical step on the road back to respectability.
  7. We don't even know for sure there actually ARE minority investors, much less hiw much they're investing, what it might be used for, or how it'll change payroll going forward.
  8. Sad. But if I'm Buxton I can't wait to put this losing organization in the rear view mirror.
  9. "29 teams won't get a parade" completely misses the point. Completely, totally, absolutely misses the point, and is exactly what the Twins are counting on, to boot
  10. How quickly people forget. There's been multiple articles written (including here) about how Tingler had to suggest to Baldelli they actually run the bases.
  11. If Lee is the answer i dont wanna know the question.
  12. Coincidentally, both had plans for the Twins season...
  13. Hoby Milner's father was John Milner, the hot rod driver in "American Graffiti." Maybe
  14. "Fish" Coincidentally Rocco Baldelli's fav band.
  15. Pfft. Now if those kids really wanted to leave a positive impact, they'd teach those puppies to read braille.
  16. Buxton again. Yawn. So predictable.
  17. OK, Who are you and what have you done with Kody Funderburk??
  18. Concur. Both of em definitely staying or going. For sure.
  19. He's a potential answer to "where do open 40 man spots come from?"
