  1. The owners proposal is incredibly fair and addresses most MLB issues. MLBPA proposal is ridiculous and does nothing to address those issues. I hope MLB installs ownership's proposal. 80 or 90 percent of MLB players will be better off and I bet every professional baseball player outside the top 5-10 percent agree with me. Just install the system, go with AAA players to start the season, and the MLBPA will cave within a month. Everyone will be better off, except a couple franchises and a handful of players. Us fans certainly will be.
  2. So ridiculously wrong.
  3. Your comment seems to me pretty clearly in reference to TB's innovation of the "opener." Bullpen games have been around for 150 years. "Tampa got questioned when they began using a RP to start the game, now it is relatively common".
  4. Water seeks its own level. The Twins are a 70-ish win team.
  5. At this point Parades is tied for the lowest career strike percentage in MLB history
  6. If you're gonna topple over the wall, at least make the catch.
  7. To be called haiku You must follow a pattern Five, seven, then five. Same for Twins pitchers Shelled for a 5 spot one day Then seven, then five.
  8. Dog days in late May Say a lot about a team And our ownership
  9. Yes. ... Wait a minute...did you really want an answer or are you just teeing one up for me?
  10. -kidnap his kids -have his mother arrested. -firebomb his house What else you have in mind?
  11. A fly ball dropping in because of the sun doesnt excuse the next half hour of the same inning.
  12. This stupid idea has completely NOT worked and ends up with the Twins so short on available pitching in the big leagues they have to DFA SWR simply because they're short in the pen for one day. This idea doesn't prepare pitchers for any role they'll need to perform in the big leagues. Minor league 28 man rosters, with 14 - 15 pitchers and regular off days, with shorter seasons, might work. But it's a terrible idea for preparation for the show. You simply cannot tie up two pitchers that can only be used once every 5 days, and on the same day. And thats assuming they DO actually pitch 4 innings each. Which they sometimes won't, because almost no pitcher has the stuff to get through 4 innings every time.
  13. You are correct...as events unfolded, it ended up not mattering, in terms of runs scored. However, IMO that doesn't excuse extremely poor baserunning. Keaschall should have scored easily on Buxton's ball off the top of the wall in right. Run in, runners on 2nd and 3rd. You can't excuse poor baserunning simply because it was overcome by events. Poor baserunning is poor baserunning.
  14. There's no point in dumping Lewis for pennies on the dollar right now. Give it a while. He's not expensive and not clogging the 40 man.
  15. Image courtesy of © Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Long-time Twin Joe Ryan is having another fine season...and would almost certainly bring a haul in trade. What should Jeremy Zoll do? Nick Nelson lays out his ideas here...what are yours? I was strongly of the opinion Rocco Baldelli's tenure as Twins manager needed to come to an end. Well, that happened. What do we think of Derek Shelton? I'm a big proponent of a firm salary cap. I think MLB badly needs one, and needs one immediately. Brock Beauchamp would like your take on the cap/floor question here: View full article

  17. Adding to either roster only serves to further concentrate talent in a couple organizations. We need less concentration, not more.
  18. No problem with that, but the OP question asks me to choose one or the other. I care about the health of MLB. That leaves only one answer. Cap.
