    First of all, I would bet Twins starters don't go 6.2 innings even 30 times in 2026. They averaged just over 5 in 2025. You'd still need 2, probably 3 relievers when they do. And you cant be sure your 2 "high leverage" guys are even available for those few games when your starter DID go 6.2. Not to mention the other 140 games when they don't and youre using 4 or 5 relievers night after night. All while missing a couple of relievers off your opening day roster because, well, guys get hurt. A lot. So your bullpen really needs to be about 10 or 11 deep. There is virtually zero chance the Twins bullpen is even anywhere near mediocre in 2026.

    Bullpens are not 2 relievers deep. Well, good ones anyway.

    Don't be so sure. We'll read the same next off-season. "Bullpens are easy" is one of those myths that just won't go away. Meanwhile 3-5 relievers are pitching 3-6 innings every game. Every game. And those numbers grow every year. It's not unusual for a team to use 8 or 9 different relievers in a 3 game series. There are no "low leverage" relievers, and a team will go through, what?...16 relievers in a season? 18? 20?

    I think they could have a disaster of an off-season following a couple disastrous seasons and some people would still pretend it's perfect.

    I enjoy baseball and watch/follow the entire league too. With my brain. But there's only one team that I follow with my heart. I couldn't just "pick a NL team to care about" even if I wanted to. And I don't want to. I watch the Twins because I love baseball, and I feel it when they win, and when they lose. I hope that never goes away. Lately they're making it more difficult than ever to care, and I never wavered through some pretty lean times.

    If it's just since 1961, Bert Blyleven is easily at the top of the list. Go to BRef and check his first Twins stint when he came up as a 19 year old in 1970 until traded in 1976. Never less than 275 IP in a full season, and his worst ERA was 3.18 as a rookie. 101 complete games in that stretch. Read that again...One hundred and one complete games. Concur Jack Morris does NOT belong on this list. I'd go Jim Perry, but I can listen to arguments for Pascual and Viola.

    Having one of the larger pools to spend and ending up without a single top 30 signee is pretty poor resource allocation, IYAM.

    Giving Jeffers and/or Caratini playing time at first base and/or DH isnt a good thing.

    I'm not really talking about minor league signings. I'm talking about signing and/or trading, or collecting talent to supplement a MLB 26 man roster. Nobody does that entirely internally. And in the specific case of Arcia, I firmly believe it's "minor league" deal in name only. He'll be on the 26 man come opening day. "I'd bet my life on it."

    You keep tilting at this windmill. Every MLB team needs to, and does, supplement their minor league supply line to the majors. Every. Single. Team Pretty much every single year. Nobody is churning out postseason teams solely from within. It's not simply that the Twins haven't been able to develop and deploy MLB all star level players. They've also sucked at adding outside talent. You need to do both. There's no shame adding players. None whatsoever. Everyone does. But be good at it.

    I'd put the chances of Arcia being the Twins utility infielder on opening day at roughly 100 percent. Roughly. That's why he was signed. He might not last the season, but he'll start it.
