  1. I thougt we were talking about win probability added. A pitcher who walks the bases loaded, then gets 3 Ks, added the same win probability as a pitcher who skips the 3 walks?
  2. The actual numbers are irrelevant. Arguing that three positive events added with two negative events is equal to the same three positive events added alone is nonsense.
  3. Then why did you post THIS EXACT QUOTE? "Julien is leading the team in plate appearances so the “he is not playing everyday" argument lacks credibility." At the least, own up to your own lack of credibility. And with that, youre on ignore.
  4. You're not using the correct measurement. "Team leading" number of PAs doesn't measure whether a player is a full time player. Measure against the league. One month in, and Julien trails the MLB leader by over 40 PAs. He's 30 behind dozens of players. Julien is not a full time player.
  5. I dont think this is accurate. Three positive events (outs), combined with 2 negative events (baserunners), aren't equal to 3 positive events. For example: 1 + (-1) + 1 +(-1) +1 Does not equal 1 + 1 +1 Both mathematically and intuitively, getting 3 outs with zero baserunners in a one run game does not have the same "win probability added" as getting 3 outs while allowing a walk and a hit. Your own explanation proves that (the "up slopes.") WPA is worthless, but let's at least understand it.
  6. I've always been a huge fan of the Carlos.Santana signing
  7. Well we know who to blame for THAT abomination of an inning.
  8. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/02/al-notes-mejia-bellinger-yankees-carter-twins.html Santana was always gonna get the overwhelming majority of playing time at 1b.
  9. 1. I never said Castro is a full time player. 2. Santana, on the other hand, was absolutely signed to be a full time player. 3. However, the point being discussed in the post you quoted was "There are no every day players in MLB anymore " Which is categorically false.
  10. Correa activated, Martin to St Paul.
  11. Take out all the pitchers...~55% of that 94%. Take out the players who spent time in the IL, and in the minors. Get back to me with what that 6% looks like. The point is, there are plenty of full time players in the big leagues.
  12. False. https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask/most-mlb-games-played-2023 Plenty of every day players in MLB. It makes zero sense to take your best players out of the game unless they're injured. Plenty of MLB managers don't.
  13. I'd DFA Bowman as the move when Duran returns. Easily the worst current reliever. Figure out who goes for Topa when he's ready. Jackson probably. I think Topa has an option so there's no need to bring him up at all, other than perhaps face saving. I think Miranda goes for Correa. Zero chance they cut bait on Farmer, and Martin seems to be the CFer of choice when Buxton sits. There's also zero chance they give up on Margot at this point. Again...save face.
  14. Furthermore, There is no room on this team for Jorge Polanco when Manny Margot, Christian Vasquez, and Jair Camargo have starts at DH.
  15. Stupid Rocco. PHing Julien for Farmer...
  16. That sounds like the restrictions on fielders gloves.
  17. Not me. I never have my computer on while posting in the game thread.
  18. Don't come to the game thread unprepared, friend.
  19. Yeesh. This Angels team is rough.
  20. Would have preferred not to dip into the deep end of the bullpen.
