  1. It seems like we always lose dealing with Washington. (And I'm not even thinking about politics.) Ramos? Span? Belisle shows that we can't even get the better of a deal when we don't give anything up! Advice to Front Office: don't deal with the Nationals.
  2. How about faking the bunt and having both runners steal. Both 3b and 1b are rushing in. Fast runner could probably beat ss to 3rd, no?
  3. Dick says Keuchel on the DL with neck strain. Beard too heavy?
  4. And Eddie is playing tonight because ............
  5. Only the opinion of an old fogy, but it seems like almost every team in MLB has a designated "Stupid Beard Guy." And every European football team has a "Stupid Hair Guy."
  6. Yup. Red Sox = Yankees + Beards + Inferiority complex. (Is that too much math?)
  7. Has he thrown even a single inside pitch yet?
  8. I'll say this (and little more) for Boston fans: This is the first game I've watched all year that the seats behind home plate have actually been full. Or is that because they don't have the fancy club with TVs to which to retreat?
  9. Tacky quoting myself, I know. But I got to thinking (always dangerous ... just ask my students): Would you trade Berríos for Sale straight up right now? I don't think I would.
  10. First two words scared me! Berríos is not for sale!!! (If I were running the club.)
  11. Maybe the non-American English-speaking world could compromise with a circumflex (colôr, flavôr) like the French did when they got rid of the silent "s" in hôtel and hôpital (among many other words).
  12. Love the umpire's hustle, but ... wow ... he is the anti-Buxton!
  13. Improved defense has probably helped Kintzler a lot. If preseason worries about Polanco and Sanó had on the left side been justified, he might have fewer saves.
  14. I'm curious about how those more knowledgeable than I (most of you) would answer the question "At this point, what is Buxton's ceiling (with the bat)?" I've given up on Mike Trout, but can he ever be a .300 hitter? Even at .250 his defense would make him a valuable player, but do you think he can ever be an offensive asset?
  15. How many more letters could they fit on the back of Hildenberger's shirt? If he had a hyphenated last name?
  16. I agree. Good broadcasting is all about matching the style of whatever sport you are covering. Vin Scully and Al Michaels had the perfect style for baseball. This is why the sound is always off when an American broadcaster attempts to narrate a football (soccer to Americans) game. Football requires the same kind of patient, relaxed narration as baseball does, but the American broadcasters seem to have the (incorrect!) attitude that "this is a boring game so I have to act excited about every pass to keep the viewers interested." Drives me nuts!
  17. Is there a statistic for two-strike fouls allowed? Mejia is racking them up. Can't seem to put them away.
  18. Should have thrown ball three. Hittable pitch with only two balls ... he was asking for it!
  19. Maybe he should mix in a couple of hit batters. You know, just to save on pitches relative to having a 3-2 count on everyone.
  20. Mejia has a two-inning no-hitter. But he may only make it through four at this rate!
