    It seems like it could, since it means the same thing. If you're winning to admit sentences without verbs, you could probably reduce that to "I." As in "Who's rooting for the Twins tonight?" "I!"

    To me, this has been the biggest difference between 2016 and 2017. Last year, the horror start took away their confidence and they never got it back. Every time they lost a game you expected them to lose three more in a row. This year, with the exception of the West Coast swoon two weeks ago, there has always been a sense that they could always come back following a defeat and win the next one. Some of this is probably greater maturity in players such as Buxton, Berrios, Sano, Kepler, Polanco, and Rosario. Some of it MIGHT be more effective mentoring by the new veterans Castro, Gimenez, Belisle, and maybe even Colon. Whatever the reason, it seems likely that they will be able to at least hang around .500 and get the experience of serious September competition. I'm not counting on making the post-season, and if they do I'm expecting at best a wild-card or first-round loss, but it is sure a lot more interesting than last year (or 2011 or 2012 or 2013 or 2014 or 2015)!

    I went to a few A's/Twins games in the 1970s when I was in grad school. Even when Charlie Finley's A's were winning three straight World Series they didn't have any fans. Then free-agency hit and they essentially had a AAA team for a couple of years. Still didn't have any fans, but at least then there was a reason (and the Twins won a few times).

    "Kernels starter Evan Sanders struggled through 4.0 innings" I didn't realize we had a Kernel Sanders in the system.

    My tuppence worth: I'd look for offers on Grossman. He has strengths that can add something useful to a good lineup in the American League. He helps the Twins, but we have a better 4th OF in Granite and should be able to replace his bat. Polanco has never recovered from the death in his family earlier this year. It's been a downward spiral ever since, with poor performances draining his confidence, leading to more poor performances, both at the plate and in the field. Don't give up on him yet. Give him a chance to clear his head and come back in the spring with confidence renewed and see how he can grow. Think about what kind of nurturing (from teammates, coaches, or even outside counselors) would help him, and follow through with it. Rogers is part of my bullpen for the next few years. Necessity has pushed him into a more prominent role this year than any of us expected, and he did extremely well until the last couple of weeks. Likely overused. If even some of the AAA/AA/DL bullpen studs for whom we have high hopes work out, he can be a more-than-useful piece as LOOGY or LH setup man. Santana, Kintzler, and Dozier are useful pieces for next year, but I'd make them "available" if the right offer comes along. It would have to be pitching and would have to have high probability of making the team better by 2019.
