Twins Minor League Report (6/21): Matt Wallner is Surging
PDX Twin replied to Steve Lein's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
And Wallner is yet another left-handed hitter at positions where we already have Kepler, Larnach, Kirilloff, etc.- 22 replies

Whose fault is that? Players learn to bunt, or not, as they develop through the minor league system. The majority of the Twins' players are home-grown, so if they can't bunt it is TOTALLY the Twins' fault. Apologies for the double post. The box didn't go away so I thought the first time I hit the button it didn't take.

Maybe that's what a truly good team is: one that is consistently good, not just good on their best days.

I didn't watch the game last night. When I woke up this morning and saw 8 IP for Bundy, the only explanation that seemed possible is that Rocco went to sleep in the 4th, then woke up after 8 and told his coaches something to the effect of "Good golly! How did you let that happen? Is Bundy still alive? No doubt we'll have to put him on the IL now."

Thanks for this! There are so many TD photos that do not tell us who is in the picture, especially when it is a minor-leaguer whom most of us have never seen.

Three Minnesota Twins Being Overlooked This Season
PDX Twin replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I know it's just a throw-away introductory remark that is not the point of the story, but I'm denying this. He's hitting a lot of homeruns, yes. But MVP? He's batting .233 with an OBP of .317 hitting at the top of the order. He's striking out 26.6% of the time and walking only 8.5%. He had an 0-for-30 spell where he was the least valuable player in the league for more than a week. Injury-related or not, his famed speed is not providing much to the team as he doesn't beat out infield hits or steal bases anymore. That record wouldn't get an MVP vote from me unless he hit 100 homeruns and drove in 250 runs. It's more empty slugger much of the time this year than consistently valuable player.- 26 replies

Ranking the Twins' Top-5 All-Star Candidates
PDX Twin replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I wish that the whole team could just take the week off. I'm surprised that Correa is not on your list. This is a vote that depends on hype and lifetime reputation as much as (or more than) on this year's performance. Correa is the biggest name on the Twins' roster and his statistics are now respectable.- 12 replies

I didn't watch for Apple reasons, but this is not unusual for national telecasts. They probably used a "generic" broadcast team who does all sports. Baseball, because of its pace, requires a very different on-air persona than continuous-action sports such as basketball, hockey, and American football. Long live Vin Scully! When I watch European football games on American TV, I have to turn the sound off with almost all of the American broadcasters. (Most networks use English broadcasters, but Fox's broadcasters are particularly bad.) Like baseball, footie has a unique pace that does not fit well with continuous ultra-high-energy hype. The worst I ever heard was an American hockey broadcaster trying to use the same adrenaline style. He lasted about 30 seconds for me before I was frantically hunting for the mute key!

He's reminding more of late-career Barry Bonds than early-career Barry Bonds. I much preferred the latter.

This is a decent team. Neither (yet) a champion nor the embarrassment that they were last year. Enjoy the wins. Accept the losses. In baseball, there will always be a lot of both.

Twins Minor League Hitter of the Month - May 2022
PDX Twin replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
As I said in an earlier thread, Steer's development reminds me of Arraez. Never the top prospect on any team, but he just hits at every level. And Arraez's success translated to MLB. Let's hope that Steer's does too.- 15 replies
