  1. I am 1 of 6 boys. According to my late parents, nobody should suffer that ...
  2. Ump has a pretty generous strikezone for the hometowns team. Time to break the up. Edit: Thanks, Zuke!
  3. oh crap. thought it was a 7:10 start....
  4. Oops, sorry. I had a very old estimate of the Twins value. http://www.forbes.com/teams/minnesota-twins/ The Twins team value, as of March 2016 is $910 M. Again, purchased for $44M. Take the revenue of $240 and subtract the expenses, profit is around $96M [although I could be wrong on the math]. Kinda screams 'sell now!' to me....
  5. "In addition, the plan, which requires no state funding, calls for the Twins to assume all operation and maintenance costs, as well as any cost overruns on the ballpark. The Twins must also commit to a 30-year, no-escape use agreement. Additionally, should the Twins be sold prior to 2016, the public will share in the proceeds of the sale." I read that as the Pohlad's can sell now. Carl paid $44M for the Twins in 1984. Current value according to Forbes is $490M. If I'm a businessman like Jim Pohlad, I'd find around 450 million+ reasons to sell.
  6. Or, maybe a more likely scenario: The Pohlad brothers never seemed to love Twins baseball like Carl did. The firing of Terry Ryan is the beginning of the Pohlad's prepping of the Twins for sale.
  7. I don't think Ryan was fired over anything other than, what is it: a 5th 90 loss season in the past 6 years.
  8. Eduardo Nunez is not THE shortstop. 41 games at SS 33 at 3rd 5 at 2nd 4 at DH He is still a utility player. He's not just in the lineup because of his offense [but still a big part], it's because of the failures of others, some injury related, some just bad performances. This season is a loss; there isn't even a question about it. The influx of MiLB players that began in the 1st half will continue in the 2nd. Maybe even escalated. If this doesn't signal an exit for Nunez [which I don't think is a guarantee by any stretch of the imagination] then I'd like to know whom. After watching Dozier try to tag out a guy returning to 2nd on the back instead of a sweep tag on his arm/hand, he's my 1st choice to go. EDIT: Upon further review of yesterday's pitching, I'd add Gibson to the list. But that's not what this thread is about....
  9. All Star break came at the wrong time for the Twins.
  10. Well, at least this ump has been consistent. He's called that outside strike all night.
  11. Time to call upon special powers. Da Rally Rat!
  12. Great play by Dozier, of The Magnificent Hair
  13. Same here. He really needs something that'll work on righties.
  14. May looking bad, yet again. 8th wild pitch this year???
  15. Guess Molitor knew Santana was gonna get nailed....
