  1. With each passing game, the signing of Torii Hunter only looks worse.
  2. Like Molitor was saying today, it's not just the poor fielding, but those were plays the were making during Spring Training. At this point, I think Molitor is being too lenient with these guys. Time to kick some butts. One more week, start demoting people.
  3. For watching Twins games, what do you recommend? I can add FS North HD for $11 or MLB Extra for $$$. I think there's blackouts back and forth...
  4. Twins look competitive. Trevor May looks like he belongs.
  5. Arcia is still young, and it's really on the coaching staff to keep challenging him. Classic example: I believe it was the 2nd game, but there were runners on base and at a bare minimum, Arcia needed to pull the ball, and advance the runners. After hacking off a bunch of pitches, he did that! ONE BIG PROBLEM: he go pissed because it was a weak slow-roller and didn't start running hard to 1st. By the time he got to 1st, he still almost beat out the throw. That's one of those teaching moments Arcia REALLY needs!
  6. I can live with the whole, "giving veterans more leash" thing. But at some point, you run out of leash and then what? Yeah, the wholesale changes that probably should have started a year or 2 ago...
  7. I agree, but would add that it's labeling a player who is in A - A+ ball. And that doesn't necessarily carry on to higher levels. Those 5 tools applied to Hicks and Benson at the lower levels, but not in MLB. Buxton's great 2013 year was Amazing! However, it's still A - A+ ball. Hicks, Benson and Buxton all deserve the "5 Tool Player" label at one point in their MiLB careers. Beware the next higher level.
  8. Buxton, Sano & Walker are now seeing a better quality of breaking balls. It's early, but if they don't turn it around in AA, none of them will make it to MLB.
  9. I'm a doubter when it comes to Buxton. I don't always believe the hype, especially when we're only talking about the 2013 A - A+ stats. And they were REALLY good stats. Another 218 AB's at Fort Meyer verifies he can hit A-ball pitching. And only that. Can't count 2014 at all. Too few AB's and in those 124 AB's, I don't know how many times he was injured. I like that the Twins aggressively promoted Buxton after 270 AB's at Cedar Rapids and the jump to AA this year. At AA-ball, he's facing pitchers with a whole different skill set: breaking balls. After 14 AB's, nobody can say for sure how he's gonna hit. If he's hitting under .250 at the end of an injury-free year, then it's another year at AA.
  10. Yeah, allow me to clarify: "Out spent" as in no impact free agents signed. Oh, Hunter can still hit some, but his great defense is in the past. So, his spot on the roster is blocking [add Schaefer and Robinson to this list] an outfielder like Rosario who, by all accounts, performed very well in Spring Training. Meyer [like you said] May, [both 25] who have been put on hold for the likes of E. Santana, Pelfry and Nolasco, a good/promising bunch of young relievers [Tonkin, Burdi] being "blocked" by the likes of Stauffer, and Boyer. To a lesser extent, wasting Escobar as a utility player. Oh, I didn't count the recent moves. To much work
  11. The Twins are clearly getting outspent by the rest of baseball. If management/owners wish to continue down this path, they need be far more aggressive with both scouting and promoting players.
  12. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Beware the "5-Tool Player". They'll only break your heart.
  13. Looks like Trevor May is starting on Monday... http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/blogs/Twins_Insider.html
  14. If you want to ruin any hope of Buxton or Sano being legit MLB players, go ahead. Bring them up now.
  15. August 25, 1970. Twins vs. Red Sox. 4th inning this fat guy in an UGLY orange and white checked suit runs/waddles towards the pitching mound. A few minutes later, the PA announces that the Met Stadium had received a bomb threat. We were told to evacuate the stadium. Worst part about the whole thing: we were on the 2nd level. Everyone on the 1st level got to go onto the field with all the players from both team. AND security blocked all stairways to get down there. We ended up in the damn parking lot. The fat guy in the ugly suit coat was Calvin Griffith.
  16. CBS Sport says: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/update/25141865/twins-sp-ricky-nolasco-headed-for-mri-on-elbow quote from Molitor....
  17. Everything > Ricky Nolasco
  18. Put me in coach!! Oh, sure, in the shape I'm in my arm will probably fall off after a dozen pitches. But, HEY, at least I won't give up 6 runs
  19. I'm going to respectfully disagree on the use of Price. First game of the year, a 4-0 lead, a pitch count of 100 and, well, it's the Twins. Why wring out your ace this early in the year?
  20. I wouldn't get too hung up on his size right now. Here's another case: Scott Rolen: 6' 4" 245 lbs. 8 Gold Gloves, 7 All Star selections. Sano's biggest problem is he can't [ Currently ] hit a breaking ball. At only 21, there's time to work on that, too.
  21. I absolutely think Joe can win another batting title. Let's not forget: last year he had a bad left leg. I've read a report that he has had problems with his left leg over the past 2 years. The leg is healthy and he can now push of it again. I'm expecting .310+ BA. On the Mauer contract: Remember, the Twins gave him the contract when he was a .300 hitting, Gold Glove catcher. That's what got him the contract.
  22. The thing that bugs me the most about the Ervin Santana suspension is why did this come out a heartbeat before the season starts? Frustrating.....
