  1. Obviously Spring Training stats mean practically nothing, but I for one hope they do give Park a long look. It seems a lot of people on this board have been ready to anoint Vargas as some sort of given in the lineup... based on a couple of mini hot streaks, one back in 2014 and one last year (that each lasted less than a month if memory serves me correctly).
  2. "really good" .259 .279 .466
  3. Well its actually 124 PA, you were talking vs lefties, correct? And yes, that is nothing. I never said Stubbs should make the team or take at bats from anyone. I laughed at the notion that his 124 PA over 2 seasons proves he can't hit lefties
  4. Not sure I get why people think a sample size of 100-200 bats are meaningful in any way...
  5. You can't actually be basing this off of his 2015 + 2016 major league plate appearances and think that proves a reverse split...
  6. Well he's thrown nearly 200 innings in AAA... if he's not ready now, its possible he might never be. I have honestly no idea, but how many pitchers that throw say, 300+ innings (if you leave him down there until June) in AAA ever end up having much big league success?
  7. Do you? Pitchers blow out arms all the time. Would you rather him use up his live bullets in AAA than MLB?
  8. What does this mean? It's January
  9. Exactly. Kershaw only started 21 games, Rich Hill only 6 for the Dodgers. Urias was a rookie, etc. Also, David Wright is "back full time"? The same David Wright that has played 30 some games each of the past two seasons and has a debilitating back injury
  10. Park, Vargas, Palka and Mauer are/ should be complete non factors when debating whether or not to acquire potentially a high end corner OF/ 1st baseman.
  11. You have learned to ignore defensive scouting reports because Aaron Hicks couldn't hit? That seems logical.
  12. I was all about trying to sign Ramos this offseason, and then he tore his ACL. Castro and Wieters are better than what the Twins currently have, but I'm not sure I'd break the bank for either. If they can sign Castro to a reasonable 3-4 year deal I would be happy, fwiw. We agree on the Pohlad's, I'm certainly not advocating for them to line their pockets more. But I'm trying to be a realist. This FA class stinks, the team stinks. Let's root for the best possible trades for Dozier and Ervin and start looking ahead to the 2018 FA class (Lucroy??)
  13. Is there a legitimate C available this off-season? I'm on board with attempting to sign Castro, but lets not get overboard with a doomsday scenario if they don't sign him. This FA class stinks and the Twins just won 59 games... adding a ton to payroll seems foolish
  14. He hasn't had the peak that a Chase Utley had, for example... and I agree he's on the outside looking in at the Hall even with a few more good years... but the consistency over 11 years is phenomenal. Which back to my original point, I think you know what you are getting with Kinsler. With Dozier, I don't think you have any idea - In mid May there were discussions on here about benching or sending down, and he was MVP level for the remainder of season. Do I think Kinsler will certainly be better than Dozier for the next two years? No way. Do I think its possible the younger guy with dead pull power is the one more likely to fall off a cliff? Yes
  15. Fine, I'll take the bait. You realize in 2015 he let his team in at bats by 100. In 2016 he led the player with the 4th most at bats by almost 150. RBI and Runs scored are counting stats.
  16. This is probably where our disagreement is happening. A player who has averaged 4.8 bWAR/ season over an 11 year career is certainly elite in my opinion
  17. Ask and you shall receive! I didn't even have to ask the same for Adam Brett Walker and that was taken care of as well
  18. Predictions on Plouffe's next contract? I would say the David Freese deal he got from the Pirates in mid-March, 1 year $3 million is a good barometer.
  19. Sure, if they can give up less for Dozier than they would have to for Kinsler, I would definitely be behind that if I were a Dodgers decision maker or fan. I'm not really taking into account age because I don't think its all that significant for the next 2 years. Dozier does have a chance at being a better player going forward. Again - I was merely responding as reasons the Dodgers may value Kinsler more. Personally, I think its very close... I was making a Kinsler argument because everyone else here completely dismissed him
  20. Again, we are talking about 2 years. Not for the rest of their careers. You can dismiss Kinsler all you want based on his age, but the fact of the matter is his longer track record of success means something. I would guess most in the industry think very highly of Dozier. I would also guess no one in the industry expect him to repeat his 42 home runs. Over the past 2 seasons... Kinsler 12.1 WAR (bWAR) Dozier 8.9 WAR (bWAR) 3.2 WAR over 2 seasons is a margain, however significant you want to believe that is. Also, I think its pretty clear Kinsler is the better defensive 2B
  21. I know how sample sizes work. You asked which metric, I responded
  22. Not baiting. Responding to the question. His UZR was significantly better than Trevor Plouffe's last year at 3rd. I also think its reasonable to suggest with an actual offseason to prepare at 3rd base, and another year removed from TJ, he'll be fine
  23. His UZR is above average at 3rd
  24. Let's all agree to stop adding Plouffe to deals like it is going to add to the return. Deal? If the Dodgers want Plouffe, they will wait until the Twins non-tender him and sign him to a 1 year $3 million deal.
  25. 2 years. What happens to Kinsler or Dozier from November 2018 - on means nothing to the Dodgers if they were to trade for either. An extension is not relevant to the discussion (unless of course Kinsler demands one to waive his no trade, in which case I would definitely lean Dozier and pass on Kinsler) I'm not following the 2nd part here that if both bomb out next year Dozier is tradeable and Kinsler is not. Why would one be tradeable and the other not if they were equal busts? I'm not following the 3rd paragraph at all. Why would trading for Kinsler be a desperation move for the Dodgers? They are trying to win a World Series and he's one of the ~3 best 2nd baseman in baseball
