  1. Absolutely, one of the greatest posts ever!!
  2. Amen!
  3. This is a fun time of year when everyone looks ahead to the possibilities of their team adding new personal by trades, free agency, or the farm system. The Twins and their fans are no different. If you are a re-building team (see Minnesota), this is a time for hope. New players, new coaching staff-everyone is excited. Please tell me how Torii Hunter, WillyMo Pena, and 26 year old pitchers from Korea are supposed to give Twins' fans encouragement? I thought we saw this last winter. Do the names Kubel, Bartlett, and Matt Guerrier sound familiar? Young guys, right? The Twins aren't going to the World Series next year. .500 would be a major improvement. But how are we supposed to know what we have if we keep looking to old guys? For the next 6 weeks or so, I'm going to cut management some slack to hope they do indeed have a plan for the future. But not if they keep up the senior citizen plan. If TR is going to spend some money, please spend it on pitching, hopefully young pitching (but not retreads from Korea).
  4. Just read the great article above byGoGonzoJournal. I like his ideas, and he certainly answered my questions,as well as being spot on so far. Great job!
  5. Who are some of the rumored prospects for pitching and bench coaches? (Please don't say Blylevan)
  6. Souhan is a thug and a bully. The noted article is one of his many rants against Mauer, and he has similarly ripped Adrian Peterson, Gardy, and Ponder, each when they were at their lowest point. Maybe his job is to balance out Sid's cheering, but I have lost the little respect I had for him.
  7. What exactly is the holdup? Are they waiting for an announcement time that will gain maximum exposure? Is it a question of money? Is that speculation or has that been confirmed? Seth is the man, and he says there is no hurry, but to me this is somewhat embarrassing. All have had two interviews, and it seems to me that either no one has really jumped out, or TR can't make a decision. Really, it's not like the Twins are selecting a pope or something!
  8. 2015 might be a transitional year for the Twins. Santana needs to play 130+ games at SS to make a fair determination if he is the guy or not. I believe he will be. Likewise with Hicks- he plays a great CF, and if he could win that job, it sets up perfectly. Sano in left, Hicks in center, Arcia in right. Let them play- see what happens. When Buxton is ready, maybe September next year, I'm willing to bet the problem will have worked itself out. Escobar can play 4 games a week as a super sub.
  9. Anybody but Molitor. I agree with Seth: even though I'm an old guy, I would prefer someone young with some fire. If the Twins want to set a new tone, and they should, Dougie Baseball is my #1 choice.
  10. IMO, this is the best starting lineup the Twins can start-for this year.
  11. I've read all the posts on this subject, and while I'm a huge Dougie fan, I'm actually equally opposed to Molitor. But the Twins, if they make a change, will go for Molitor. Why? IMO, they are at least 10, and probably 15 years behind in any progressive thinking. How can any organization with their continued failure rate keep the same basic people managing this organization? Apathy! Even though many of us will continue to express our thoughts on TD and other places, the rest of the fans will continue to give our Twins unconditional love, no matter how bad the product on the field. The new stadium solved any attendance problems for the first few years, but apathy will soon take over. With the TV revenues, there is no incentive for the Twins to care about trivial things like managers. And when they finally do, they will take the conservative route and go with the "name" guy. Molitor offers the organization nothing new: he is Gardy Jr. Can you see him out there arguing when one of his players is involved like Mike Redmond did tonight when Stanton got hit? Right now they're lost one of their biggest fans-me. I am encouraged about the prospects in the system, but they are just that-prospects. Nothing guaranteed. The only thing that is guaranteed right now is the continued philosophy of management-lets do the same thing, and the fans won't notice.
  12. It's not like we're playing the '27 Yankees...
  13. I know I'm jumping in in the middle of this thread, but I don't know how many more games I can watch. This is getting embarrassing....
  14. Hope someone will keep us aware of injury report. Don't do twitter....
  15. I've seen it before, but not recently. Better lights, no more long bus rides, better food and nutrition, and better coaches and trainers, can make the jump easier. He seems to have a good makeup, and so far hasn't had any 0-20 stretches. As Thegrin just said, his bunting ability should help him avoid long hitless streaks.
  16. You're kidding, right?
  17. Looks like a long night for the Twins hitters. I'm predicting a no-hitter by Lester. Then I'm predicting a one-hitter, then.........
  18. Mr. Mauer is just the opposite-his stroke is to LF or left center. He would never have become such a great hitter if he had tried to pull everything. I feel you have to consider the batter- if a hitters best chance is to pull the ball, and management can live with the fact that he'll probably always be a .240-.250 hitter, don't change him. If you are someone like Plouffe and want to prolong your career, and want to be more productive, consider going the opposite way when the pitch dictates that. Or maybe, if you are like Mauer, Carew, Boggs, and Gwynn and want to hit for a high average, and don't care how many HR's you hit, go the opposite way. I also think management has a right to weigh in if a player has peaked, and their career needs a reboot. But don't try to change the power guys-they are few and far between.
  19. I'd be very happy with Seth's predictions!
  20. Doesn't the bat look like a toothpick in his hands?
  21. Maybe Stewart from Toronto?
  22. I like Doc's idea of bringing in a plus free-agent, but when was the last time a really good (not great) player wanted to come to Minnesota? And not because he was washed up, and no one else offered him a contract. Honestly, who was the last player to do that? I probably have little brain function right now, but I can't remember the last guy who did that. Someone help me out! Molitor and Winfield did that at the end of their careers, but I can't remember that last time someone had an impact few years as a free agent pickup, or for that matter as someone who came in a trade. I guess my opinion is that most players want to play in a large market city. I also have a concern that everyone has deeded Buxton as the for sure, certain, positively 100% guaranteed next superstar for the Twins. He is everyone's can't miss stud in the making. He has been hurt this year, yes, but when he has been healthy he hasn't had weeks when he has dominated in FM. I know before his second injury he was player of the week once, but since that time he has been mainly average. And he hasn't progressed to AA either. Hope I am worrying for nothing, but when you are a fan of Minnesota teams, you are taught to think the worse!
  23. Look, the kid is 24. I remember my maturity level at that age, and it wasn't pretty at times. Everyone is down with Hicks, and I admit there have been issues with this kid, but, IMHO, the talent is there. Same with Arcia ( and Pinto, as well)- this is a lost year. Let's these kids learn in the bigs, against the best competition. I hate watching the K's persist with Arcia, but I believe he has enormous potential. If you had a son or daughter failing or having a difficult time at their first job, I would hope your first response wouldn't be to send them to therapy!!
  24. I could be wrong, but Joe has an oblique injury, NOT a back injury. Trevor Plouffe and Drew Bree's both had similar injuries, and have done fine after rehab. By the time he is finished, Joe Mauer will go down as one of the 10th greatest Twins of all time. Deal with it.....
  25. Just realized that. My bad- edited my post, but it was too late. You are just too quick!
