  1. This was probably the most mind boggling decision made, especially after he did not hit or field very well in Spring Training.
  2. Hopefully he is doing just what is said in this quote, breaking out. If he can get his BA up to .220-.230 area I think that is ok for the time being.
  3. I can't help but wonder if the plan for this season was to make it work with whatever they might have in the time being and then keep Buxton up after the Future's game in July.
  4. I completely missed what he was saying in his post and apologize if my post came across as an attack. I also agree that the trade left the Twins somewhat short in CF, however the actions of this season have done much more to put the team into its current bind then what the trade caused.
  5. I think 6-8 sounds about right, they will likely lose at least 2 in New York because of the teams weird mental thing with the Yankees.
  6. Why would the Twins make this deal, it has very short term benefits. You are looking at a year perhaps a year and half with Revere before Buxton takes over, plus you are potentially trading away a piece of the rotation for the next few years (who has turned a corner it seems in AAA) for a year and half of CF stability. It seems hard but this is another case where the long term benefit needs to win out over the short term gain.
  7. Thank you for the clarification.
  8. I may be wrong here and please correct me if that is the case, but I believe Pinto's service time would continue to run even if he is sent down so if service time is the only reason to send him down, he may as well stay with the big league club.
  9. How many pitchers are the Twins carrying right now? 12 or 13? If it is 13, you send down a pitcher when Fuld is ready. If the Twins are only carrying 12 pitchers, then when Fuld is ready it might be time to send Colabello down.
  10. Yeah and if he continues to hit then his potential trade value goes up, so really this is almost a win-win for the Twins. If he regresses they can resign him as a back-up/clubhouse guy, if he continues to rake, you trade him for max value. Thus win-win.
  11. He threw a QS last night and the Twins got the win, he just guaranteed himself another start if not another 2 unfortunately.
  12. Although to be fair, TR did go out and get some pitching and the team is playing better this year. Not to say that I don't agree with you about the prior years.
  13. I agree with the thought about Escobar, if in another week or two he is still hitting good, make the move. With Hicks, I believe the Twins are looking for a solid month or two from him before placing him back in the pressure situation he would be in as lead off hitter. I must say it is nice to say we have a 2nd baseman who can be spoken of in the same sentence as Cano, Kipnis, and Pedroia. How long has it been since the Twins had an elite 2nd baseman? Knoblauch?
  14. Yeah I actually thought the same thing.
  15. Hey everyone, just wanted to post on here that SI.com has a gallery of classic Kirby Puckett photos. Here is the link: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/photos/1405/classic-photos-of-kirby-puckett/
  16. Suzuki won't bat lead-off because of his speed. And Escobar, well I have no idea why he couldn't lead off, although having Mauer bat 2nd supposedly gets him more at bats, so maybe he is there at 2 which forces Dozier to lead-off and the putting Escobar at 9 gives a "2nd" lead-off man for a wrap around. And no shots intended here, but Hicks is hitting 8th, so Escobar could be leading off several innings if Hicks doesn't start hitting.
  17. Personally, I kind of like it. Gardy and TR are holding him responsible for his poor performance so far this season. Hopefully this will light a fire under him and get him performing to an acceptable standard.
  18. Hopefully this is the break through we all have been waiting for.
  19. Yeah I definitely think that Meyer needs more time to continue to refine/develop his change-up. It is better to let him develop at further at Rochester. I do think that we will see him up with the Twins at some point this year, unless his innings limit interferes with this. He had 5 innings of no hit ball yesterday but was wild (4BB) so he clearly is still working.
  20. Ok Parm, a nice long single wins the game.
  21. I am enjoying the excuse to be distracted at work.
  22. We need you to do what you did earlier today.
  23. Hey at least Ortiz isn't in there to hit a game winning home run against us.
